The Christmas Comet.
This is only a single 10 second shot. I'd like to have 20 or so and stack them. I hope to do better if the weather clears up ... but it doesn't seem likely. The early morning hours of December 6th and 7th would be the prime time. At that time, you'll find it between the last star in the handle of the Big Dipper and the bright star Arcturus to its right.

In juli 2021 raakt delen van de Eifelbahn (Hürth-Kalscheuren - Ehrang) zwaar beschadigd door extreme regenval en daar bij komende overstromingen.
In Gerolstein raakte hierdoor materieel opgesloten, waaronder rijtuigen van de AKE Rheingold, KAF railbus en DB Regio Lint-treinstellen.
De Eifelquerbahn (Gerolstein - Andernach) bood uitkomst om dit gestrande materieel af te voeren. Deze is al 10 jaar buitendienst en de daar voorgaande jaren was de lijn ook al in sterk verval. Enkele maanden geleden is men in rap tempo begonnen de vrij te snoeien van begroeiing en de technische staat de controleren. In januari 2022 werd de Eifelquerbahn voor de overbrengingen, maar vanwege de technische staat geldt er een max snelheid van 10 km/u.
De overbrengingen van de DB Regio Lint-stellen was een klus voor Railadventure. Hiervoor werden de 4180 011 (DE18) en de 365 221 (V60) overgebracht naar de Eifel. De 4 treinstellen werden in 2 ritten overgebracht. Op 22 januari 2022 vond de eerste rit plaats.
Raildaventure 4180 011 met 2 koppelwagens, DB Regio 620 036 + 620 034, koppelwagen, 3 Sfps wagens en 365 221 van Gerolstein naar Kaisersesch, tijdens een stop in Daun.

De waarschijnlijk merkwaardigste treindienst van NS is de intercity Eindhoven - Dordrecht die een starre vieruurdienst kent. Eind september 2021 werd daar nog een schepje bovenop gedaan door het oudste Sprintermaterieel in te zetten. Op 29 september 2021 maakt treinstel 2978 als intercity 1966 een stop in Tilburg.
Easter 2021 Chrissie & I spent the weekend in Granity on the South Island's rugged West Coast. The weather was forecast to be wet on and off all weekend - perfect for landscape photography!
I'm always a little hesitant when going to a new location for the first time and putting pressure on myself to come away with an image. It was a last minute decision to go when the weather cleared for a while. It can often all feel a bit panicky in such circumstances. Still, it was nice to be out. Always nice to be out, actually!
The walk over the hill, along the top of the cliff and then to get down to 'Gentle Annie Point' beach was somewhat precarious. The track is unmaintained and super thin in various places with a 'bit of a drop' shall we say if you were to misstep. I made a mental note to be extra cautious on the return journey.
The beach itself goes on for ages and was a delight to explore and I immediately knew it was a place I would want to return to one day.
Love the West Coast!
It was in the dying moments of the day that I finally found a composition I was happy with just as the rocks were receiving their last soft kiss of the day's light. Focus stacked.

A belated and unpaired contribution but featuring plenty of pushing: Lighting (UV), sliders (colours, levels) and even the pen needed a push.
Taken with a Helios 44 58mm f2 (ГЕЛИОС-44) 13 blade silver M39 lens, extended, uncropped.
1 december 2021 reed een containertrein naar de Sloehaven. Opzich geen rare gebeurtenis, aangezien de Nosta dit wekelijks doet, maar de belading was erg opmerkelijk: de trein bestond volledig uit Innofreight / Arcelor Mittal wagens op felrode containerdraagwagens. Helaas zat ik in quarantaine en kon ik de rit niet vastleggen, en ook de rest van de ritten ontglipten mij een tijdlang aangezien deze telkens in het donker reden. Echter na een tijdje begon de trein een uur of drie eerder te rijden en ook met het langer worden van de dagen kon ik 26 januari eindelijk een rit vastleggen, echter wel met een hoop ruis. Een goede foto moest nog komen dus.
28 februari begon de voorjaarsvakantie en kon ik wat tijd vrijmaken om met Colin per fiets het uiterste puntje van de haven op te zoeken om de bediening van OVET Vlissingen vast te leggen. Na een lange maar prima te doen fietstocht kwamen we eindelijk aan en gelukkig was de installatie al bezig met het vullen van de trein. Het was dus wachten totdat dit proces klaar was en de trein omgelopen was. Dit zou niet langer dan een uurtje moeten duren, dachten we... Echter was dit niet het geval en door een hoop vertraging en gewacht waarvan de reden mij niet bekend was duurde het nog een tijd voordat de trein ons passeerde.
Gelukkig scheen de zon en aan zee is het wachten goed te verdragen. Toch zijn de fotografen maar al te blij als om 14:36 eindelijk DBC 6424 met een vers-gevulde Innofreight-trein langskomt onderweg naar het basisemplacement van de Ritthemse/Vlissingse/Nieuwdorpse haven. Later op de dag zullen twee 189'ers de trein verder naar Saarhölzbach rijden.
*Een bordje in de loc werd achteraf digitaal verwijderd.

Singel | Koningsplein 28/05/2021 16h50
The tram stop Koningsplein has been relocated in May 2021. From 8 February until 5 May 2021 tram lines 2 and 12 were rerouted due to drastic street and rail work on Spui, Koningsplein and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Including the relocation of tram stop Koningsplein which is actually a merge of two tram stops together with Spui. So people have to walk a little further more often. Time savings for the tram are negligible.
Combino 2072 is arriving here at the brandnew tram stop. Koningsplein on line 12 to Amstel station.
This Combino 2072 was delivered by Siemens to the GVB on 04/04/2003 and first put into service on 17/05/2003

Op 27 april 2021 reed de MEG 156 003 dertien locs uit de serie 155 en 151 van Rostock Seehafen naar Leipzig Engelsdorf.
Op de foto komt de trein door het voormalige station van Satzkorn gereden. In de achtergrond volgt reeds loc 187 134 met een goederentrein naar Seddin (op het andere spoor en gelukkig niet twintig seconden eerder onderweg). Een lijst met alle locs die achter de 156 hangen is helemaal onderaan te vinden.
Am 27. April 2021 fuhr die 156 003 der MEG mit 13 alte DB Loks von Rostock Seehafen nach Leipzig Engelsdorf. Dank einer sehr gut funktionierende Informationskette konnte ich diese Führe in Satzkorn fotografieren und freute mich, dass die 187 134 - welche mit einem Güterzug im Regelgleis unterwegs war - nicht 20 Sekunden schneller unterwegs war :-)
Vom Dach eines Gebäudes hatte ich diesen Blick aus gut 8 Meter Höhe

MEG engine 156 003 was tasked with bringing 13 DB engines from Rostock Seehafen to Leipzig Engelsdorf on April 27th 2021.
I managed to get a shot of this train in Satzkorn and was happy that DB engine 187 134 - which was headed in the same direction with a freight train - didn't leave Priort twenty seconds earlier :-)

D1015 on mainline freight in 2021, and in sun. Crazy!
D1015 'Western Champion' and 66719 are seen at Gossington with the 6M42 09:20 Avonmouth Hanson Sidings - Penyfford Cement. The Western worked the train as far as Gloucester Yard then would return back to the SVR as part of its test run.
