De imposante beuken- en eikenlanen, het Capitool achter het landhuis, de vijver met het eiland en vooral het hoofdgebouw met oranjerie en koetshuis geven het buiten echt grandeur. Sinds 1976 bevindt het hoofdkantoor van Natuurmonumenten zich in dit gebouw.

A foggy Sunday in the city and a foggy Sunday on a hill doesn't always mean the same. This time, Japetić peak wasn't just in a fog, it was coasting through a cloud! The temperature was slightly above freezing, there was even snowfall at one moment.

Magical Palm Trees in Paradise
My favorite "sunrise in paradise" location on Key West. These palms are featured on Jimmy Buffett's A1A album, and the back cover is about 50 yards north of here. While he lived here this was a favorite spot of his and he wrote a few songs here. Have been attempting to get the best shot of these palms for many years. I'M STILL TRYING!

Am 15. August 2021 bespannte die Railpool 193 991 den DGS 40569 von Padborg nach Verona Q.E. - eine Leistung von TXLogistik. Den komplett beladenen KLV-Zug konnte ich bei Langweid vor den Toren Augsburgs aufnehmen.
On 15 August 2021, Railpool 193 991 hauled DGS 40569 from Padborg to Verona Q.E. - a service provided by TXLogistik. I was able to photograph the fully loaded intermodal train near Langweid, just outside Augsburg.

Took us a while to find this one as the GPS was a little off, but we finally succeeded. Mud Creek Falls is a waterfall located in the small city of Sky Valley, Georgia that cascades for over 100 feet eventually into Estatoah Falls near Dillard, Georgia. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. :-)

Poland, Łódź, Art Nouveau power plant of Karol Scheibler's factory, built in 1910 according to the design of the Latvian engineer Alfred Frisch. The uniqueness of the building is not only the fact that it is a very rare example of Art Nouveau industrial architecture, but also a construction technique that was innovative at the time. The structure of the building is made of reinforced concrete.

Lake Salda is a mid-size crater lake[citation needed] in southwestern Turkey, within the boundaries of Yeşilova district of Burdur Province. It lies at a distance of about fifty kilometers to the west from the province seat Burdur.
Lake Salda is often included in the Turkish Lakes Region that extends across inner western to southern Anatolia, especially Isparta Province and Afyonkarahisar Province, although Lake Salda is geographically separate from the larger lakes, which are more to the east and, being a crater lake, is morphologically different from these tectonic lakes.
The lake area covers 4,370 hectares, and its depth reaches 196 meters, making it one of the deeper lakes in Turkey, if not the deepest. The lake sedimentary records show high resolution climate changes that are related to solar variability during the last millennium.
The lake is a popular excursion spot for people across the region or from beyond, the more so due to the hydromagnesite mineral found in its coastal waters, which is believed to offer remedies for certain dermatological diseases. The shorelines, surrounded by black pine forests, are also popular among hunters, the game and the fowl available including quails, hares, foxes, boars and wild ducks, aside from the lake's fish. White sandy beaches, limpid water and seven crystal-white islets within the lake complete the scenery.
A township that starts almost at the shore to the southwest of the lake carries the same name, Salda. The local administrative seat of Yeşilova is located to the east of the lake at a distance of about four kilometers and Yeşilova municipality manages the lake's camping facilities.
Its peculiar morphology has led to a number of academic studies conducted on Lake Salda. The unusual alkaline nature of the lake means that is one of the few locations where ancient stromatolite algae still grows.
In 2019, a team of planetary scientists from America and Turkey conducted research on Lake Salda's shoreline microbialite sediments. In March 2021, NASA reported that its Mars surface-exploring rover Perseverance showed that "the minerals and rock deposits at Salda are the nearest match on earth to those around the Jezero Crater where the spacecraft landed."
Hoping to protect the Lake Salda area, the nation's environmental authority has launched a huge national park project. The Salda Lake National Park is currently under construction and should be finished in 2023.(Wiki)

In winter, Amsterdammers watch the falling thermometer readings with the same focus as people in Aspen and Chamonix. When the temperature drops low enough for long enough, the lakes and the canals in Amsterdam become sparkling highways for the skaters. Little kiosks are set up on the ice to dispense heart-warming liqueurs. I really love this part of our culture. Almost everyone, young or old, likes to skate and is smiling and friendly. The last days the cold was enough for the canals to freeze over a rare occasion. Amsterdammers sharpen their blades and hit the ice. On the 14th of Februari 2021, the first people started skating on the canals of Amsterdam. A lovely view of people skating on the Keizersgracht canal. Who knows times of Hendrick Avercamp are coming back this year. Avercamp was the first Dutch artist to specialize in paintings of winter landscapes featuring people enjoying the ice. Some 400 years on, our image of life in the harsh winters of the Golden Age is still dominated by Avercamp’s ice scenes with their splendid narrative details of couples skating, children pelting each other with snowballs and unwary individuals falling through the ice.

There, many are hoping for further frigid conditions. This weekend we could ice skate even on some canals of Amsterdam. We had three fantastic days of skating.
Na 3 jaar konden de Jordanezen eindelijk weer de ijzers onderbinden. Op 14 februari 2021 nog geen ideale condities want je kon nog niet onder alle bruggen schaatsen. Op de Prinsengracht is het ijs net dik genoeg, er kan best aardig geschaatst worden, maar ook op de Keizersgracht. De grachten eindelijk bevroren en de adem komt in kleine grijze pufjes uit mijn mond. Handen op de rug. Rustig ademen. Ik geniet van het geluid van de ijzers over het ijs, sneeuw en een prachtige gezicht op de Amsterdamse grachtenpanden. Wie had dat nu gedacht, schaatsen in februari in Amsterdam. Wie even wegdenkt kan zich vandaag in Hendrick Avercamps wereld wanen. Als eerste Amsterdamse kunstenaar uit de 17de eeuw specialiseerde hij zich in het schilderen van winterlandschappen met ijspret. Ons beeld van het leven in de strenge winters in de Gouden Eeuw wordt na 400 jaar nog altijd bepaald door Avercamps ijsgezichten met prachtige verhalende details van schaatsende paartjes, kinderen die elkaar bekogelen met sneeuwballen of een man die door het ijs zakt. In de middag is er inderdaad Anno 2021 iemand door het ijs gezakt. Morgen gaat het helaas weer dooien. Het waren drie fantastische schaatsdagen in 2021.

Taken while on my random visit to my program. *Sometimes they call us in randomly*. No worries here.. On November 15th, (two months away) I will have three years clean from substances. Not even one sip of alcohol since I surrendered to my addiction and decided to change my life. I also gave my life to the Lord.. and I will be eternally grateful each and every single day.. for my life & my blessings in my recovery (thanks to the Lord above). Without him, I know I wouldn't even be here today! -All of those crazy near death experiences that I faced and made it thru... I know I didn't do it without him there. I am so proud of myself, and proud of Juan. I am proud of our recovery, our love and our decision to dedicate our lives to the Lord & always put him first NO MATTER WHAT.
I am doing well. I am grateful. We are back at church & happier than ever.

So even at a place where so much sadness surrounds some people, (I still see the beauty in all things). I always have, even at my worst.. but now at my best.. I will find beauty in any and all things.. that surround me. Optimism. Love. Forgiveness (of others but most of all forgiving myself). And I am living a life worth living today.. A life to be proud of.. & I will never look back, if only to learn from my mistakes. I will never go back, unless it's to forgive myself for my past and move forward from it.. I will continue to move forward every day..
And I will never stop finding the beauty in all things.. and the best in everyone. I will not judge, because that is not my job.. but it IS God's.. & He will. I am here to learn, teach, help others, live and love & worship.
