On our walk around Hungarton we came across this abandoned grounded railway carriage among the trees at Cold Newton. It had obviously been used as a residence in the past but now didn't look in great shape.
I have no idea what its origins are but it must be of some antiquity. The closest railway was the former Great Northern line to Leicester Belgrave Road station which ran about 2 kms to the south & closed in 1962.
Mr. Ratty has pinned it down (see below). It's an ex-LNWR Third compartment corridor coach thought to have been grounded as a residence in 1948.

Sinds het wegvallen van de bekende Leeuwarden shuttle van HUSA in 2011 ziet Friesland tegenwoordig nog maar zeer weinig goederentreinen. De treinen die Friesland nog aan doen zijn meestal omgeleide treinen die vanuit Groningen niet via de normale route naar Zwolle kunnen rijden. Terwijl de terminal van zijn rustige nadagen geniet kwam daar in April 2021 opeens verandering in. Toen reed Strukton in samenwerking met de SHD een trein beladen met geluidsschermen afkomstig van de HSL naar de oude containerterminal waar deze gelost werd.
Op 25 Augustus 2021 keerden wederom de Strukton 1824 samen met de 2205 van de SHD terug naar de Friese hoofdstad met een trein beladen met geluidsschermen. Voor het rangeerwerk in Leeuwarden werd gebruik gemaakt van de 2205 die de trein zou plaatsen op de terminal.
Op de foto heeft de loc zojuist het eerste deel van de sleep gestald op spoor 75 van de terminal, terwijl deze nu bezig is om het 2e deel op spoor 79 te plaatsen.
I've known Dennis for a while now and I always stop for a chat when I see him. A few months ago Dennis lost his partner to Cancer and today would have been her 70th Birthday. To celebrate Dennis was off to what was their favourite pub for a couple of pints. The loss of his long term girlfriend really knocked him back at the time, so its good to see him back to his normal, cheerful self.

Eurocity 8 von Zürich nach Hamburg, wurde am 18.12.2021 mit Re 460 007 «Junior» bespannt und konnte vor Sissach fotografiert werden.
Op woensdag 21 april 2021 reed Strukton een trein beladen met geluidswanden afkomstig van de HSL-zuid vanuit Rotterdam Noord Goederen naar Leeuwarden. Een van de nieuwe aanwinsten van Strukton, de van NS overgenomen elektrische locomotief 1824, reed de trein naar Leeuwarden. Achterop werd de Stichting Historisch Dieselmaterieel 2205 meegenomen voor het rangeerwerk.
Omdat de trein slechts met 90 km/u was ingepland moest de trein onderweg regelmatig aan de kant om snelle(re) treinen van NSR voor te laten. Rond de klok van half 4 kwam het transport aan in de Friese hoofdstad. Al snel werd de 2205 opgestart die de trein vervolgens in twee delen op de voormalige containerterminal plaatste. Aldaar worden de geluidswanden overgeladen op vrachtwagens die ze naar een voor mij onbekende bestemming zal brengen.

Werbelok Ge 4/4 622 «Arosa» bespannte am 07.01.2021 den Schlittelzug zwischen Bergün und Preda. Bei der Ausfahrt aus Bergün konnte der Zug in der winterlichen Landschaft festgehalten werden.
I worked out the perfect way to get my daughter to let me photograph her-take he on a driving lesson! Yesterday we went for along drive to the country to give her a run on the Freeway and get a feel for the speed of the car. I would be lying if it didn't result in white knuckles but it was a good day out! I loved the repetition of the trees here and the Sol 45 gives it a dream like feel.
My recurring dream at the moment is that I won't be able to get on the plane tomorrow for our planned holiday!
Hoping all goes well and I make interstate for a 10 day break, I will be mostly off-line but will try to pop in from time to time.

Happy Caturday 30.10.2021 "rear view"
Timmy has had problems with his right front leg for eight days - he does not put any weight on it, but walks on three legs. Last Friday, the leg was x-rayed. Nothing broken, nothing noticeable. Today the vet x-rayed the shoulder joint: a shadow can be seen slightly below the joint, which is not there on the other side.
He is now on antibiotics and is not allowed to go outside any
more in order to spare the leg.
The problem is that he can hardly defend himself on three legs and his enemies have already discovered that he is handicapped. The result: several small sores on his head, which he hasn't had for many weeks.
He will probably have to stay indoors until the leg is better.

London Docklands è una zona a est e sud-est di Londra. Questi moli erano parte del porto di Londra, un tempo il più grande porto del mondo. Essi sono stati utilizzati fin dall'epoca romana. Una volta, i lavoratori portuali formavano comunità locali molto affiatate e con proprie culture distintive e dialetti. Per la scarsa comunicazione questi erano sostanzialmente isolati dalle altre aree che formano Londra. London Docklands is an area in east and southeast London. The docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They were used since the Roman era. Once, the dock workers formed a number of tight-knit local communities with their own distinctive cultures and slang. Poor communications meant that they were quite remote from other parts of London and so tended to develop in some isolation. The London Docklands was bombed during the Second World War, and was hit by over 2,500 bombs. Between 1960 and 1980 because of the containerization, all of London's docks were closed, leaving around eight square miles of derelict land in East London. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use.
DGS 69616 Hamburg Hohe Schaar - Pirna Gbf
Am 23. April 2021 begann mein Tag mit einer kurzen Tour durch den Hamburger Hafen. Eigentlich wollte ich gar nicht erst losfahren, denn das Wetter war mal wieder anders als angekündigt. So war es morgens nicht klar, wie sich das Wetter den Tag über entwickeln würde. Da ich aber nichts weiter auf dem Zettel hatte fuhr ich dann doch nach dem Frühstück los. Meine erste Anlaufstation war der Hafenbahnhof Hohe Schaar. Dort rangierte gerade in der Ausfahrtgruppe eine Lok solo umher. Diese war schon interessant. Aber erstmal umrundete ich den Rangierbahnhof. Leider war passend zum Licht nicht wirklich etwas unterwegs bzw. keine passende Rangierbewegung auszumachen. Also fuhr ich mal an die Ausfahrt. Die ins Visier geratene Lokomotive stand mittlerweile vor einem Kesselzug. Erfahrungsgemäß dürfte es dann spätestens in gut einer Stunde losgehen, wenn alle Papiere da sind und der Zug fertig gebremst ist. Mittlerweile ploppten die ersten Quellwolken auf und zogen vorbei. Immer mit einem Blick zu dem Signal wartet es sich gemütlich in der Sonne. Der Lichtstand würde noch gut 1,5std passen und dann bei 90 Grad ankommen. Es tat sich aber erstmal nichts auf den Gleisen. Dann wurde irgendwann das Ausfahrtssignal grün und ich dachte schon, dass nun mein KeWa-Zug um die Kurve kommen würde. Dem war aber nicht so. Es erschien erstmal Metrans mit einer Railpool 186er und dann gleich im Block nochmal MTR mit einer 386er mit jeweils Containerzügen gen Osten. Nach weiteren 15min wechselte das Signal wieder aus grün. Aber es war wieder nicht der gewünschte Güterzug, sondern eine RheinCargo 187 mit isolierten Kesselwagen nach Stendell. Nun wurde das Frontlicht langsam knapp, denn langsam aber sicher dreht die Sonne. Ich entschied mich die Stelle jetzt zu Wechsel mit dem Risiko meinen Zug zu verpassen. Ich fuhr also fix nach Maschen auf die Decatur-Brücke. Dort würde das Licht noch lockere 2,5std für Südfahrer passen. Nach der Ankunft zeigte sich der gewünschte Zug dann aber auch nicht. Dafür aber ein paar andere. Trotz der zahlreichen Schäfchenwolken ereilte keinen davon einen Wolkenschaden. Die Bilder von einer Cargo 185 mit KeWa, dem VOLVO-Zug mit Rpool 186, der TXL 185 537 mit KLV und der LOCON 187 309 landeten erstmal im Archiv. Kurz vor meiner selbst gesetzten Deadline tauchte dann in der Ferne die weiße Lok auf, die mich schon den ganzen Tag beschäftigte. Die 193 585 von Alpha Trains, die aktuell für CD Cargo unterwegs ist und dementsprechend ein paar Logos aufgeklebt bekommen hat. Es war gerade dunkel geworden. Eine größere Wolke war gerade vor die Sonne gezogen. Ich sah es schon kommen. Der Wolkenschaden war vorprogrammiert. Dann hielt der Zug aber plötzlich an und stand dort gute 5min. Erst als bei mir wieder die Sonne schien und der Zug in der Ferne gerade von der nächste Wolken mit einem Schatten belegt worden war, fuhr er langsam wieder los. Es reichte gerade soeben, dass die Wolke nicht alles am Auslösepunkt verdunkelt und mein gewünschtes Bild war im Kasten. Wolkenlotto gewonnen!
