Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty nine metres at 09:36am on Saturday 20th February 2021 off Blackheath Avenue and Charlton Way in the grounds of Greenwich Park, one of the Royal Parks of London situated in Greenwich, South East London.
Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

Italia, Toscana, Nozzano Castello, Estate 2021
The Castle of Nozzano is a medieval castle that was an outpost of the Lucca defensive system. A position of great strategic importance, straddling the heatedly contested border between Lucca and Pisa. Originally, the structure was in wood and it was first destroyed by Pisa twice. It was rebuilt for the last time in 1395. The current building dates back to this reconstruction. The castle was used until the late 1500s to control the boats along the Serchio river, then its strategic and military importance declined.

Last Light, Mono Lake. © Copyright 2021 G Dan Mitchell – all rights reserved.
The shoreline of Mono Lake, a cone, mountains, and the last light of an early Autumn evening.
The views from this section of Mono Lake have long intrigued me. I think it may be because I frequently arrive here late in the day from the north, and especially in the autumn it is pretty common for me to come down the grade from Conway Summit at just about sunset. On quite a few occasions I’ve raced the sunset to get there in time for the last light, occasionally with the rising full moon in the scene. By now I have a few particular locations where I like to pull over and set up on these lovely evenings.
This view looks along the shore of the upper “corner” of the lake just off of US 395. The shoreline undulates here now that the waterline has dropped from historic levels. (I’m fairly sure that the foreground peninsula was previously under water.) A second peninsula extends into the lake from the Black Point formation, and beyond that lies Negit Island. In the distance, beyond the far shore of this huge lake, lie desert mountains, catching the final sunlight of the day in this photograph.

I hadn't been here since my April 2021 (two years to the day exactly!) trip to hunt big freights under the wire, so while driving home from Florida and Virginia I hopped off 95 quick for a look and a shot, even if I wasn't lucky to catch any freights this time. If you missed the shots from back then here is a favorite: flic.kr/p/2kRq5qb. Anyway, here is Amtrak Boston to Norfolk regional train number 87 on at about MP 60.2 on the Penn Line sailing southbound on Main 3.
Amtrak's Susquehanna River Bridge at Perryville is quite impressive and arguably the signature piece of infrastructure and one of the scenic highlights along the entirety of the Northeast Corridor. Opened in may 1906 by the Pennsylvania Railroad the 4153 ft long double track Howe deck truss bridge features an approximately 265 ft center swing span that increases the nominal clearance from 52 ft to 127 ft for maritime traffic. This is the largest movable bridge on the Northeast Corridor and as a significant bottleneck to Amtrak with plans in the works for a replacement pending the availability of the over $1 billion needed for the project. To learn more check out this link: nec.amtrak.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Amtrak_RTB_Susq...
The 115 year old bridge is itself a replacement for a wooden single track bridge opened in 1866 by the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad with iron reinforcements added between 1874 and 1880. The piers for that first bridge remain prominently visible just down stream of the present Amtrak structure. But even that original bridge was itself a replacement for the railcar ferries that operated across the river for the first 29 years after the railroad first opened in 1837. So whenever the fourth generation of rail crossings becomes a reality it will continue a two century long tradition of improvement and expansion of the rail infrastructure. But for now, let's revel in the glory of this marvelous structure harkening back to the days when the mighty Pennsy proclaimed itself the Standard Railroad of the World.

We received out wood order of cut and split we are still waiting for one order that is all intact logs that GP and our son will be cutting up for the following winter. Right now this bush cord is all stacked so it can dry out for this upcoming winter season. I can sure feel the muscles in my body wishing we had a tub instead of just a shower here at Chez Plevna.

on February 7, 2021, blizzard Darcy raged across Western Europe, a strong wind accompanied by drifting snow. The last heavy snowstorm in Amsterdam dates from 1985. In the evening the storm had died down. Wind, cold, dark? It's minus eight degrees celcius. All reasons to go outside. Scarf on, walking shoes on and into the city centre. Do you see those lights, do you see the smoke coming out of the chimney and do you hear the fire crackling? The snow reflects the light in the evening, giving you a beautiful view. I enjoy the sound of crunching snow under my shoes and the beautiful view of the Amsterdam canal houses. Walking in winter is not only a guarantee for red cheeks and a breath of fresh air, but is also good for body and soul. There is something very beautiful about Amsterdam in winter. The Jordaan is covered with thick snow as above on the Lijnbaansgracht. There is a tranquil beauty of snow and cozy light inside the cancal houses. A white blanket does indeed make Amsterdam slightly different from those other 360 days of the year: different views, different sounds, different light. A winter party sprinkled with white confetti. And it is quite simply a welcome break in the covid-19 lockdown. A period when the days start to look more and more alike and string together in a uniform slurry, with only the longing for the future as a ray of light in the darkness of the curfew. The snow remains at this temperature. More than 10 centimeters of snow has fallen. This is a welcome change. The snow also provides a lot of fun for children here in Amsterdam. Snowball fight, make snowmen, go sledding and adults go cross-country skiing. All fun activities that people do in this beautiful snowy world.
Storm Darcy was a storm that hit parts of Western Europe from February 7, 2021. In the Netherlands, Belgium, the east of the United Kingdom and parts of the north and west of Germany, strong winds were accompanied by drifting snow, creating snow dunes. The last heavy snowstorm in Amsterdam dates from 1985. The snow is during the lock-down days an uninhibited winter fun in the streets of Amsterdam. Adults even go cross-country skiing. The next days it will keep on snowing. Expected more than 17 cm snow in Amsterdam. It's a joy to walk around the canals in my neighborhood. Photo taken at the Lijnbaansgracht in Amsterdam with beautiful canal light on a wintry evening.
Wind, kou, donker?

So you know me as a designer, but what do I do in second life in my spare time?
Well one of my top things is actually finding underwater sims and swimming around as a mermaid.
Not super spooky Helena . . . could even say that is sort of lame and typical fantasy girl trope. Well I have been doing it for years, and I do really enjoy it, so I don't much care if it is mildly cliche.
I have always taken my own take on it, and while sometimes I can be a typical mercritter, most of the time I do have a dark twist on my undersea characters.
Cureless and Moon Amore are having a sale, and it ends today, July 27th. One of the awesome items for sale, is this bone mermaid tail. It inspired my whole adventuring look!
It paired wonderfully with the updated Ranitomeya Skin from Soul. I had the first renditions of this skin and always enjoyed it. This shade works wonderfully for mers.
Items of Note:
Hair - *NEW* @ Mainstore
Skin - Recent Update
Eyebrows - Free
Eyes - Gacha
Lipstick - *NEW* @ Midnight Order
Mer Tail - L$99 on Sale (27th only)
Bubbles - L$15

Two owlet siblings were sticking close to each other that day, two years ago. I don't know if they grew up to be the adult pair I photographed recently (and posted yesterday). They were pretty cute, though.
I shot this still during the filming of Wild Prairie Man; these were among the wildlife subjects I located for the directer, George Tsougrianis. He was right beside me, rolling video. And my pal Madonna was hired to shoot stills that day (she did a terrific job). So there were three of us on the ground - perhaps more humans than these young owls had ever seen. I'm sure they didn't know what to make of us. The parent birds were nowhere to be seen. The soft light that day was perfect, as there were no confusing, criss-crossing shadows from all those cottonwood branches.
