Als zweite Kamera zu meiner Rolleiflex 3.5F habe ich für meine Romreise im Dezember 2021 ihre kleine Schwester, die Rollei 35S, mit Farbfilm geladen.
As a second (color) camera for my trip to Rome in December 2021 i had the Rollei 35S with me, the "little sister" of my main camera, a Rolleiflex 3.5F.
Skogafoss from afar on a picture perfect morning. I loved the mornings in Iceland. They were so peaceful. You were alone with only the sound of the ocean behind you, the soft roar of the nearby waterfalls, and hundreds of sea birds coming or going from nests in cliffs high above you.

Maart, de lente is in aantocht! De dagen worden duidelijk langer en het licht is de hele dag fraai. Samen met april de twee mooiste maanden van het jaar als het weer een beetje meewerkt. Gelukkig waren er in maart best wel een aantal mooie dagen en werden er vrij veel foto's gemaakt. De keuze was dan ook vrij lastig. Het ging tussen de DB-Cargo Backbone met een via Venlo omgeleide UC, een Strukton werktrein met 1824 en deze plaat. Uiteindelijk is na lang wikken en wegen de keuze gevallen op de fraaie "vlaggenloc" 189213. De loc kwam in deze outfit in dienst bij ERS-Railways ter promotie van de verbinding met het Poolse Poznan. Na het stoppen van ERS-Railways kwam de loc in dienst bij LTE die hem vervolgens weer bij verhuurder MRCE inleverde. Rail Force One nam de loc over en gelukkig bleef de opvallende bestickering behouden, aangezien we al genoeg saaie logoloze zwarte 189'ers hebben rondrijden.
Op de heerlijk zonnige 20 maart 2021 mocht deze loc de trekkracht leveren voor de goed beladen Blerick/Cabooter shuttle. Inmiddels waren bij de bekende locaties Haaren en Boxtel, waar je altijd fijn plaatjes kon maken de gevreesde houten paaltjes verschenen als voorbode van de droevige groene Prorail gevangenis hekwerken en dus was menig fotograaf regelmatig nog in deze omgeving te vinden. Terwijl de meesten zich focusten op de overweg enkele honderden meters verder naar het westen stelde ik me op langs de bekende weg, waar ook al paaltjes waren neergezet. Hier is het altijd risicovol met passerende auto's op het moment supreme en ook deze keer was het een auto die toch nog door het beeld heen reed. Gelukkig was het een erg leuke oldtimer die niet hinderlijk in beeld reed toen de goed beladen trein aan de fotograaf passeerde op weg richting de Maasvlakte. Inmiddels staan hier 2 meter hoge hekken waardoor deze locatie niet meer gebruikt kan worden.
Am 03. Juni 2021 nahm auch der Autotransportzug DGS 47172 von Devínska Nová Ves nach Bremerhaven-Speckenbüttel den Umweg über das Altmühltal. Mit dieser Leistung werden Fahrzeuge des Typs Porsche Cayenne vom VW Werk in Bratislava zur Verschiffung nach Übersee transportiert. Zuglok war die für ecco rail fahrende 193 211, die sich an diesem Tage frisch gewaschen präsentiert. Entstanden ist die Aufnahme bei Breitenfurt.
On 03 June 2021, the car transport train DGS 47172 from Devínska Nová Ves to Bremerhaven-Speckenbüttel also took the deviation via the Altmühltal. This service transports Porsche Cayenne vehicles from the VW factory in Bratislava for shipment overseas. The train's locomotive was the 193 211, which runs for ecco rail and was freshly washed on these days. The photo was taken near Breitenfurt.

I found this lovely fresh butterfly in a suburban Durham NC (USA) yard on the evening of 13 June 2021. Happy Wing Wednesday!
Black Swallowtail - Papilio polyxenes (male)
It stayed on this perch overnight and in the morning I saw it fly off, showing the distinctive markings of a male, but I could not get a photo.
In 2021, CP repainted one of their ES44AC's to honor shipping company Hapag-Lloyd as part of their new intermodal service from the port of Saint John, NB. Two years later, the locomotive is making its rounds on the combined CPKC system, like seen here on an empty gas train from Mexico at it passes Tower 26 in Houston.

Too much black-ice for the bike yesterday, so went on walkabout to burn a few calories. I couldn't resist stopping for this iPhone shot down one of our local lanes. Note the traditional woven fence at right - some fine country craftsmanship there.

On Saturday 30th October 2021 a pair of preserved class 40s took a railtour to Plymouth from Preston.
This was a rare but not unprecedented occurrance, and this image shows a previous visit by this type of traction to Devon, just over 44 years earlier.
With wisps of steam visible from both locomotive's boilers, 40083 and 40081 stand at Newton Abbot prior to heading the 1420 Par to Paddington back to London.
This train was titled 'Deltic to Devon (and Cromptons to Cornwall)'... while a pair of 33s did take the train forward from Newton Abbot to Par and back, the Deltic was sadly lacking.
In a situation symptomatic of the 1970s, an industrial dispute had prevented a Deltic being refuelled or given maintenance prior to the tour. The tour organisers had decided to run the tour with alternate motive power: hence the appearance of an Eastern Region pair of class 40s on the tour.

Tamar River Bridge at sunrise time. The Tamar R. (after its English colonial equivalent) now officially has the original local Aboriginal name 'kanamaluka'). The 'living' river is a 70km tidal estuary in northern Tasmania (Australia). It was on our recommended list of Tasmanian must do holiday places to see; and did not let us down with the beautiful sunrise vista colours and reflections; which also represents the colourful style of local Aboriginal paintings.
