Vendredi 19 Février 2021 – Jour d’anniversaire pour les filles, 1 bougie, 1 gâteau, plus facile à gérer que 14 bougies sur 14 gâteaux fois 2 soit 28 gâteaux cela devient compliqué avec l’âge.
Vendredi 6 Aout 2021 – Une certaine idée des vacances, eaux claires, soleil et personne sur la plage… un petit coin de paradis quand on aime.

Izzy : "I was out in the garden nice and early this morning and jumped onto the table for a better look. Them birdies had to be out there somewhere. Sadly for me, them birdies didn't even come into our garden, but I don't know why.
In the end I got off the table and went to see if they were in one of the neighbour's gardens, but I can't get them if they are."

The valley of the Petit Mont, Canton Fribourg, as seen from the Chalet du Soldat. These are the Gruyère highlands; the region from which the best Gruyère cheese comes from.
The Gastlosen mountain range appears on the left side of the image. On the right side, we can see the Cheval Blanc and the Hochmatt mountains.
The whole region was covered with a thick glacier as can be seen from the shapes of erosion.

Parce que solidement entretenue, la bâtisse n’a rien à craindre des prochains orages.
Parce que de manière dynamique, le Chalet militaire s’est ouvert au monde.
Parce que, avec ou sans tourmente, il existe des valeurs qui ressemblent à des montagnes : inébranlables.
Et parce que le Chalet sera toujours, pour Vous et grâce à Vous, cette petite « patrie surplombant la grande ».

This Sunset Beach sculpture "217.5 Arc x 13" by French artist Bernar Venet is in the permanent collection of Vancouver's Biennale exhibitions.
On this day it was double purposed as a hammock hanger.
Vancouver Biennale was founded by Barrie Mowatt in 2002. The first bienniale ran from 2005-2007. It featured 24 public works of art from 11 countries.
The Vancouver Biennale Legacy Foundation is a Biennale component, committed to leaving a legacy of public art in the city by acquiring major pieces of sculpture from each exhibition and offering them to Vancouver and the surrounding area for long-term display.
The legacy programme ensures the city benefits from a legacy of internationally acclaimed works of art for generations to come.
ABOUT 217.5 Arc x 13:
The sculpture consists of 13 corten steel arcs and weighs 12,125 lbs. Each arc is the same size.
Bernar Venet’s work is part of his Arc series of sculptures illustrating the beauty, balance, and malleability of raw steel.
The name of this artwork is a precise description of its mathematical composition. All of the beams in the sculpture are nested and curved to the same angle providing a sense of balance and grace.
Venet employs mathematical manipulations of this industrial material to explore the interconnected relationships amongst nature, humanity, and the universe.
The repetitive thirteen curves give a resting yet rhythmic sense of movement and fluidity. The raw red-brown rust colour of the unpainted surfaces of the corten steel, an authentic surface upon which Venet insists, facilitates an interaction with the natural elements.

Vancouver’s most respected and largest circulation pigeon friendly newspaper.

Pigeon Daily is reporting today a slight of unimaginable tragedy against us Rats of the Sky (RotS = pigeons).
With absolutely no prior consultation from City of Vancouver authorities, contractors destroyed one of our most cherished city centre RotS homes, “Trans Am Totem”.
Is there no justice, no support for the sacred homes of RotS? Heads should roll for this act of inhumane debauchery.
As noted by an on site Pigeon Daily reporter, RotS protested en masse (?, really 7 RotS rates as en masse?) on top of the still standing Trans Am Totem old growth log.
Ignoring RotS pleas for a stay in procedure, the contractor carried on with impunity.
Our reporter did note several of the contractors were bombed with P shit but they refused to halt the work, brandishing a supposed legal court order to proceed.
Pigeon Daily suspects the court order was a piece of cheaply disguised fake news and will be reviewing this incident with our head solicitor, the esteemed Mr. Pete Pretty-Pigeon.

A small group, (1) animal rights protester, was on site with an obnoxiously loud audio hailer and a homemade “stop the home loss” sign constructed of RotS feathers supposedly collected from dead RotS road kill, was chastising the contractors.
Protester threatened to to stop traffic by laying in the roadway. Yup, he did and they scooped him up with one of the bucket cranes and tied him to a lamp post while they completed the task at hand.
Only in Vancouver, the whacky wet coast.

Sat in the back of my Jeep with the tailgate up to protect me and my camera from a steady light rain that was falling.

Devenue grand cabinet ou cabinet du conseil en 1737, elle est achevée en 1753. François Boucher y réalise des lambris peints avec des allégories, Alexis Peyrotte peint quant à lui les encadrements de fleurs. La pièce est décorée dans le style Louis XV. Le mobilier est celui mis en place sous Napoléon Ier.

The Cabinet du Roi was decorated between 1543 and 1545. The paintings, based on drawings by Primaticcio, consisted of depictions of heroes and virtues in pairs on the doors of the cupboards.
It became a grand cabinet or cabinet du conseil in 1737 and was completed in 1753. François Boucher painted the panelling with allegories, while Alexis Peyrotte painted the flower frames. The room is decorated in the Louis XV style. The furniture is the one put in place under Napoleon I.
Another day, another lighthouse. We were in the neighborhood, dropping off cookies (the ones from Day 36's photo) to some friends, so we stopped by the Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes. This was my scenic-location-of-the-month during the 2011 365 ("Here We Go Again").
This is a new view for me -- inside the keeper's house fence, without a soul around. Before, the gate has been open only during open houses, when there are lots of people milling around.

This eye-catching red flower-shaped building on Great Northern Way in Vancouver is the home of Nemesis Coffee's new flagship outlet.
Nemesis has been working for a year plus toward what they're calling its "next-level" build-out of the location that's part of the "South Flatz" development adjacent to Emily Carr University.
Nemesis' new home is inside this red 'petal' pavilion, a 2,000-square foot space contained beneath an exterior of overlapping, cascading deep red panels.
This will be Nemesis’s third location after the first one in Gastown and the other at the Polygon Art Gallery in North Vancouver.
The building was designed by Vancouver's Perkins+Will for PCI Group.
Nemesis is using a Loring roaster, a supplier known for its "smart roast" equipment that minimizes emissions.
This Nemesis location will have a full kitchen in addition to coffee and pastries.

The project to rehabilitate the abattoirs and transform them into a museum of science and technology was entrusted to Adrien Fainsilber on 15 September 1980. The reinforced concrete structure of the unfinished project of the large abattoir sales room was partially preserved to build the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, which occupies three of the four bays of the unfinished building, the fourth bay being unused at the time of the inauguration until its occupation by Vill'Up on 30 November 2016.

This mural depicts a snake intertwined with typography.
The work is about our experience of ourselves as "not" ourselves.
It aims to have people think about the moment and our state of being at the moment. Not being ourselves has us knot ourselves further into being.
This was the first time Ben Knight and Katie So collaborated.

Our Sunday visit to Colonia Coyoacán is coming to an end. John thought a few nuts would be a treat for the trip back to Colonia Roma Norte. No chapulines (crickets) thank you.
Chapulines – grasshoppers or crickets – are typically sautéed in salt and garlic and rolled in tacos or gobbled by the handful - maybe with a squirt of lime.

Dramatic-looking perennial Calla Lily “Odessa” (Zantedeschia) feature striking dark black-purple trumpet shaped flowers. Each flower is surrounded by arrow shaped dark green leaves lightly spotted with white.
Black calla lilies symbolize elegance, beauty and mystery. On the other hand black callas are a symbol of death.
Please, pick only one meaning.
Trivia:
Blooms are both rabbit and deer resistant.
The word calla is Greek for beauty. “Calla”. Flowers have an interesting mythological history.
Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, wife of Zeus. Zeus wanted his son to have the strength of the gods.
Zeus brought baby Hercules from his wife while she was sleeping. Hera awoke. Then pushed the baby away from her.
As a result, drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way. And everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.
By the 20th century, calla lilies grew in popularity in the USA and became popular in American art particularly through the work of Georgia O’Keeffe.
Georgia O’Keeffe:
In 1929, shortly after completing Two Calla Lilies on Pink, O'Keekke began spending her summers painting in New Mexico.
In 1949 she moved permanently to the former Native American village of Abiquiu, near Santa Fe, where she pursued her fascination with the striking forms of the natural world.
Georgia O'Keeffe died in 1986, at the age of ninety-nine.
