I can’t resist the late afternoon light on the locos at Loughborough so I had to take this front 3/4 shot of BR Standard 5 4-6-0 73156 on shed road 2. The fact it is once again coupled up to its tender must mean that the damaged roller bearing on one of the tender axles has been repaired. Our engine 9F 92214 can be seen on the left.
BR 2-10-0 8F No.90775 is seen passing Sheringham Golf Course, North Norfolk Railway. Taken during their Autumn Steam Gala - 5th September 2021.
RB 24698 Königstein (Taunus) - Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
Auf der "Königsteiner Bahn", welche die im Taunus gelegene Kleinstadt mit der nahegelegenen Metropole Frankfurt am Main verbindet, werden auch in 2021 noch die mittlerweile über 40 Jahre alten Dieseltriebwagen des Typs VT2E eingesetzt. Der Großteil des Verkehrs wird jedoch mit mehr oder weniger modernen Triebwagen der Baureihe 648 abgewickelt. Doch auch damit soll bereits in gut einem Jahr Schluss sein, die Leistungen sollen von Wasserstoffzügen übernommen werden. Grund genug, der Strecke mal einen kurzen Besuch abzustatten, an einem Sommerabend blieb genug Zeit für drei Bilder südlich von Schneidhain, bevor es über Nacht nach Oberfranken ging.

We went on our traditional Mother's Day hike again, and this year we chose the Provinceland Dunes on the Eastern side of Provincetown. With the wind from the West, it was a very comfortable hike - cool weather, but very sunny and no wind since were were protected by the high hills of sand.

The staple diet of the 701s will be the suburban network with Guildford and Reading being the main extremities of their operation replacing the increasingly elderly Class 455s and Class 456s but also the much less elderly Class 458/5s and the very youthful Class 707s which are only three years old.

June 20, 2021 at 10:31PM CST it will be Summer, so for this I figure the water pitchers would be a great way to start Summer off with a slide, a bit of color and textures to the slide, at the Water Front sidewalk patio seating, as I passed by the water jugs I could not help but capture them.

I've been watching some YouTube videos by Andrew Shenton on Railway Photography. He is an accomplished photographer who advocates something a little different from the traditional 'front three-quarter' shots - of which 95% of my images are!
I thought I would give my local station a go ............

Am 17.10.2021 war der planmäßig letzte Einsatz der Berliner A3L71 im Kleinprofil. Diese Fahrzeuge waren nun seit circa 50 Jahren im Einsatz und haben mitlerweile ausgedient. Die letzten 10 Exemplare besagter U-Bahnen kamen bis heute hauptsächlich auf der U3 zwischen Warschauer Straße und Krumme Lanke zum Einsatz. Einen solchen Einsatz sieht man hier. Bei der Einfahrt in den U-Bahnhof Schlesisches Tor gelang mir dieses Foto. Für mich ziemlich schade, dass diese Fahrzeuge nun wahrscheinlich ihr Ende im Recyclingkreislauf finden werden, da der Sound und das Fahrgefühl einen in die Berliner Vergangenheit versetzt hat. AKN 4427 Elmshorn - Ulzburg Süd
Am 13. Februar 2021 hatte ich mir als Tagesziel eine Straßenbrücke bei Osterhorn vorgenommen. Auf dem Weg dahin bin ich "zufällig" in Langeln vorbeigekommen. Durch den Ort verläuft die Bahnlinie A3 der AKN. Am Bahnübergang der Dorfstraße habe ich mein Auto geparkt und habe mich bei minus 14 Grad erstmal ordentlich in Zwiebeltechnik eingekleidet. Etwa 30min nach Sonnenaufgang sollte als erstes ein Triebwagen der Baureihe VTA von hinten vorbeirollen. Diesen wollte ich als Querschuss aufnehmen. Dazu musste ich allerdings noch auf ein Stoppelfeld hinauslaufen. Das Ganze mit Leiter und Kamera bewaffnet. Kaum auf dem ehemaligen Maisfeld angekommen, da war schon ein Rollgeräusch zu hören. Der Bahnübergang hatte sich lautlos geschlossen und schon war der Triebwagen im Auslösepunkt angekommen. Mehrmals klickte der Auslöser und das erste Bild des Tages war im Kasten bzw. auf der Speicherkarte. Nun hieß es erstmal etwas sputen. Denn für den nächsten Dieseltriebwagen ging es zurück an die Straße in Richtung des BÜ. Dort steht auf dem Feld ein großer Baum, der als Motiv dienen sollte. Keine 15min nach dem ersten Bild folgte dann kurze Zeit später das zweite Bild des Tages. Es zeigt den schön sauberen VT 2.74 der Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster Eisenbahn (AKN) auf dem Weg von Elmshorn nach Ulzburg Süd. Der Nahverkehrs-VT war schon einige Zeit vorher zu hören, denn der Tf nutzte sein Makrophon scheinbar äußerst gerne und erst nach einigen vielen Trööööt erschien der Zug auf der Bildfläche. So war ich vorgewarnt und nicht so überrascht wie beim vorherigen Gegenzug...

RE 11448 Hamburg Hbf - Puttgarden
Am Morgen des 8. Mai 2021 lachte in Hamburg die Sonne vom Himmel. Auch auf den Webcams entlang der Vogelfluglinie war die Wolkensituation noch sehr gut. Also ging es nach dem Aufstehen ziemlich zügig zur Garage und mit dem Auto die gute halbe Stunde in Richtung Norden. Auf etwa der Hälfte der Strecke konnte ich förmlich zuschauen wie die ersten Quellwolken aus dem nichts am Himmel auftauchten. In Blickrichtung Lübeck sah das Ganze dann noch etwas schlimmer aus. Meine Augen erblickten eine fast geschlossene Wolkendecke. Ich überlegte schon das ganze Unternehmen abzubrechen und zurück zu fahren sollte. Aber da ich sowieso nichts Weiteres auf dem Zettel hatte, fuhr ich weiter zu meinem ersten Ziel. Nach Ratekau. Dort wollte ich mein Glück, mit dem nur am Wochenende während der Saison verkehrenden Strandexpress probieren. Dieser sollte wieder, wie bei meiner letzten Tour an die KBS 140, mit Conny aka 218 460 bespannt sein. Als ich in Ratekau aus dem Auto ausgestiegen bin erblickten meine Augen ein Rapsfeld auf der anderen Seite des Feldweges. Dieses wollte ich gerne mit in das Bild integrieren und so positionierte ich mich am Rande des Feldes. Das Licht war gerade aus. Die Wolken zogen ganz schön schnell. Ein etwas größeres blaues Loch zwischen den dicken Wolken machte sich gerade auf dem Weg in Richtung Sonne als die Abfahrtszeit in Lübeck gekommen war. Nun sollte es noch etwa 10min dauern bis der Regional Express vorbeirollen sollte. Nun hieß es warten und bangen. Bis zum Erscheinen des Doppelstockzug auf der Bildfläche schrammte die Sonne noch einmal knapp an einer Wolke dran vorbei und es wurde ganz kurz dunkel. Aber als der Sound der 218er zu hören war, war keine Gefahr eines Wolkenschaden gegeben und die Sonne hatte viel Spielraum bis zur nächsten Wolke. Dementsprechend gelang das Bild mit sehr netter Wolkenkulisse und ich freute mich darüber, dass das Wolkenlotto einmal zu meinen Gunsten ausging. Nach dem Bild war dann etwas Eile angesagt. Wakering Photography Group Winter Photo Marathon 2021.
Six images in Five hours on Six given topics.
Category 4 :- Snappy Dresser.
The group met up at 10.00 am Sunday 24th October 2021 at Morleys Nursery Tea Room Great Wakering to register their empty camera card for the challenge, the categories were given at that time.
1/ United Nations Day.
2/ Bark.
3/ Pumpkin.
4/ Snappy Dresser.
5/ O for October.
6/ Negative Space.
All images had to be in Jpeg, No Post Processing, just one image per category, we had to return to our groups meeting place, the Great Wakering Royal British Legion Club by 3.00 pm.
The images were downloaded to our laptop and were stored for judging by three independent judges on Friday 29th October 2021, the results will be declared at our next Photography Group meeting Monday 8th November 2021.
Ryan who is 6ft4" and is always immaculately dressed was kind enough to take five minutes of work and pose for this photograph.
Whilst at home photographing the pumpkin I collected this hat for Ryan to ware, I raced back to Morleys Nursery before Ryan had chance to change his mind.
I am pleased to say the judges awarded this 1st place, thanks to Ryan's good looks I reckon.
I would like to express my thanks to my Daughter Helen our Photography Group Secretary and Organiser for all her hard work, time and effort in running a tricky challenge.

Near the end of a long and mostly uneventful day of cruising dirt roads intersecting high quality longleaf pine habitat, we drove up on this young snake crossing the road and were thankful to have success. Much like the rattler cruised the previous day, this one was reluctant to rattle or strike, instead opting to retreat at every opportunity.

The Finches, Doves, and other assorted birds get yummy seeds at my feeder. I spend more than I should for sunflower seeds for them.
Usually I just enjoy watching them and don't try to take photos of them. But yesterday was an exception.
A Black-headed Grosbeak came for a visit on his migration north. He's so colorful that I had to grab my camera.
