IGNOSY 2021 ESPECIALLY MADE FOR CODA MUSEUM
Ignosi (ηγνώση)
Long ago there was a demigodess called Ignosi, whose knowledge was pure and immeasurable. She knew everything of all creation, gods, heroes, and man. She was associated with science, speech, literature, the arts and inspiration. She was also the gatekeeper for the process of gaining knowledge.
However, she was not allowed to to communicate this awareness to humanity.
...So powerful and beautiful were her skills, that not only did she become the most enlightened creature on earth, but she also felt compelled to share her learning with humans, even though that had been strictly forbidden by the Gods. Ignosi defied the gods and became pregnant in order to sow the seeds of 'cognition' on earth. This caught the attention of the gods who believed that humans with this insight and strength could soon become a threat to them.
For this outrageous act of disobedience against the will of the Gods, Ignosi was condemned to death by decapitation. In her last defiant act before passing however, she cleverly managed to communicate fragments of her wisdom to her twin daughters in her womb. Through them, fragments of knowledge and awareness seeped through humanity.

Manuela Granziol is an artist and art historian.
Her practical and theoretical interests include photography, sculpture, mixed media, as well
as the interconnection between visual art and

She was born in Switzerland. She studied economics at the University of Zurich. She completed her BA in Photography in 2002 and
MA in Art and Media Practice at the University
of Westminster in 2004.

Back to 2021 and an image from autumn that never previously got aired......
After a 'leaf-busting' circuit of 19 hours covering many of the lines around the far north-west of England, including the Settle & Carlisle, West Coast Mainline, and the southern end of the Lake District, the previous day's 4.21pm Carlisle Kingmoor TMD out-and-back RHTT (3J11) pauses briefly at Carlisle station waiting on a path for the final mile or two of its journey back to the Yard. DRS 'Shed' 66302 'Endeavour' brings up the rear, with unit 66126 doing the honours at the front.
The recent derailment of the loaded cement train from Clitheroe at Petteril Bridge Junction (just south of here) on October 19th when five tankers, each carrying 80tonnes of powdered cement, fell into the River Petteril, has put rather a different complexion on RHTT activity in the Carlisle area this year. Although the cement has now been extracted, the recovery of the wagons is still ongoing and not now expected until December - which also means access to the Newcastle and S&C routes remains closed for the timebeing.
Back to the image and the platform canopies here bring back memories of my first Tri-ang train-set, a Christmas present in the early 1960s, where the OO gauge station sported something that looked very similar. Given the locomotive in the set was Stanier's LMS Pacific 46205 'Princess Victoria', the style was surely appropriate!
I hope the gent on the left got the shot he was after.

MINOLTA TC-1と通過するトラクター
左下に指も写っているがまあいい。
MINOLTA TC-1では焦って撮っている時にたまにやらかす。見たママを撮るわけではないから、ある意味当然のことではあるけれど。蓋はなくて自動的にレンズが迫り出す方式なので、キャップしたまま写真を撮るといったことがないのはありがたい。トラクター写真は、3枚しか撮ることができなかった。これ以外だと、向かってくるやや遠くの写真、通り過ぎてちょっとした写真で、他に使うとしたら向かってくる写真をトリミングしてといった感じだろうか。基本的にフィルムカメラの写真は僕はトリミングとか一切加工しないことにしているので、3枚の中では一番力を感じるこれにした。結構なおじいさんが乗っておられて、農業の行く末が心配になってくる。写真を撮りながら黙礼をするという器用なことをしてしまった。

午後から車で買い物に行く。まず、書店に寄った後、フジで食料などを買う。CONTAX TVSを持ち歩いたが、特に何かを撮ったりはしなかった。

PENTAX 67と音信川沿いの遊歩道と満開の桜
これを撮った時はかなり酔っ払っていた。
カミサンと大谷山荘でランチを食べワインを飲み温泉に入った帰りだ。外食で酒を呑むこともほとんどなくなったためか、結構酔っ払いながら撮っていた。そのため、なんていうか割りと散漫な写真が多い。この日、桜はほぼ満開だったと思う。酔っ払っていなければ散歩しながら帰るつもりだったが、とても無理でバスで帰った。
撮影は音信川にかかった橋の上から行っている。平日だったこともあってか人出はさほどでもない。もっとも、ちょっと前まではすっかり寂れた観光地というだけの場所だったので、その頃と比べたら多いような気もする。

昨夜から、きわめて強い風と雨だった。午後から、フジへ車で買い物。CONTAX G1を持ち歩いたが写真を撮ったりはしなかった。近所の家の犬が合羽を着て散歩に連れ歩かれていたので撮りたかったが、車だったのと結構な雨だったのであきらめた。

L’œuvre pour Paris La Défense
Sur l’Esplanade de Paris La Défense, Cyril Lancelin présentera une décomposition d’un volume simple, un cube. Il est réalisé d’un assemblage régulier de sphères métalliques réfléchissantes. Le solide est évidé par des passages et des percées. C’est le dessin en trois dimensions d’une partition de plein et de vide. L’artiste invite le visiteur à une immersion dans la matière. La sculpture connecte l’infiniment petit et l’infiniment grand, l’échelle humaine et l’échelle de la ville. C’est une expérience cinétique ouverte sur l’espace public.

I got my Deardorff back from being repaired in June, and wanted to get out to take some pictures with it. Unfortunately, the day I picked was gray, and slightly smoky (as it is wont to be in the American West these days), but I didn't want it to be a total bust, so I stopped in the shadow of Rowena Crest, and pointed my camera to the other side of the road where some white oak trees were growing along the rim of a small valley. I was testing for light leaks. I do not appear to have any. This is good. The camera seems to be repaired thanks to Blue Moon Camera and Machine in Saint Johns, Oregon.
For this picture, I wanted what Ansel Adams called "A soft, enveloping light." I'm not sure that I acheived it, but it certainly is soft.

Voor de werkdagen 1 en 2 juni 2021 werd de agenda leeggeveegd c.q. overleggen verplaatst om ruimte te maken voor een korte treinenspottrip naar België. Hoofddoel was het ballastvervoer tussen Quenast en Somain met als trekkracht de klassiekers van de serie 67400 van SNCF Fret. Deze fraaie locomotieven rijden waarschijnlijk 11 juni voor het laatst voor deze treinen. In de zomer wordt ECTS ingevoerd op de lijn L96 wat het einde betekent voor de inzet van de BB 67400 op deze lijn.
Op dinsdagochtend 1 juni werd al in de zeer vroege uurtjes vanuit het hoge Noorden van Nederland vertrokken naar het Zuiden van België. Daar werden een aantal fraaie stekken bij Braine-Le-Comte en Soignies bezocht. Op laatstgenoemde stek konden we met een uurtje vertraging de fraaie trein vastleggen. Daarna werd de lijn Tubize-Quenast bezocht waar ook nog een mooie ballasttrein van Infrabel werd gefotografeerd. Na wederom een kort bezoekje aan een iets verderop gelegen stek bij Braine-Le-Comte werd één van de fraaie stekken bij Neufvilles opgezocht waar al snel een aantal fotografen aansloten. We werden nog even wat zenuwachtig toen in de laatste tien minuten voorafgaand aan de passage van de trein een behoorlijke colonne aan landbouwvoertuigen de mooie brug op de achtergrond passeerden.
Op de foto zien we de SNCF Fret 67629 en 67494 met ballasttrein 49880 Quenast-Somain in de buurt van Neufvilles rijden langs een aantal zeer tevreden fotografen. Aangezien de prachtige blauwe klassieker voorop zou rijden, was deze trein nog eens extra gewenst voor de gevoelige plaat!

Dieser Park bildet das Kernstück der BUGA 2021 in Erfurt.

Emerging from the former Cyriaksburg citadel, the area was transformed into a public green space from 1885 and subsequently further developed. After a first garden show in 1950, the International Horticultural Exhibition (iga), held regularly from 1961 onwards, was the largest and most important event of its kind in the GDR (East Germany) and the East Block. The park, which has been a listed monument since 1992 because of its unique horticultural design concept, is one of the main works of the landscape architect Reinhold Lingner and is one of the most important testimonies to the garden architecture of the 1960s in Germany. This park is the centrepiece of BUGA 2021 in Erfurt.

Took this picture Friday (Oct. 8, 2021) while on my way to Stockton CA. Bonneville Salt Flats, west of the Great Salt Lake, Utah. Ran into first snow of the year about 100 miles west of here in Nevada. Wasn't much, just a couple of inches which had fallen before I got there, so pretty much just a little slush.
I'm doing fine, other than working my ass off. Near Portland Oregon right now, have a delivery at 2230, the back to our terminal to grab another loaded trailer and deliver it at 0300. Only about 100 miles total driving between the two deliveries, just ugly hours. Then picking up a load tomorrow evening at 1800 and headed to Central California to deliver that one Wednesday at 0500.
I'm planning to retire in June unless my 401K and stock investments tank. So far I'm in pretty good shape despite crazy market gyrations. Up over 4K today, mostly due to my SOFI stocks going up over 10%. My other favorite stock is Palantir PLTR. I've been actively trading stocks this year and up over 20%. Tried day trading when I had a day off, did terrible and lost a little over $900. Swing trading has been pretty successful so far, winning more than losing. Earlier this year I was down over 30K, but knew Palantir would turn around. Took about two and a half months, but my conviction finally paid off and now up over 15K just with swing trading PLTR. Enough stock talking, needless to say I enjoy trading stocks and looking forward to retirement to do more and hopefully helping to fund my retirement.
Still doing photography, not as much, but still stop when I see an opportunity to capture something interesting to me, like this stormy scene over the salt flats. Once retired planning to do a lot more photography and traveling without the crappy schedule of trucking.
I've been healthy, fully vaccinated despite all the political noise over vaxed or non-vaxed. For me, the risk from the vaccine versus not getting vaccinated was a no brainer. My daughter the "covid" nurse, son-in-law and three grandchildren just had covid. Wasn't severe, only a few days feeling like crap for the adults. The grandchildren tested positive but never showed and symptoms. My 88 year old mom, is doing great, vaxed and still working out everyday with her Comrade Jane Fonda work out videos. Brad her little dog is grown up, still small and according to her, a good little bed buddy.
Feel guilty posting knowing I'll only have time to visit a few of you. But posting for anyone wondering if I'm still alive, just wanted to let you know I am. I do miss all of you. Just busy making as much money as I can before retirement. Huge shortage of truck drivers, so they're paying us more and keeping us very busy.
I have tons of pictures to post, so once I'm retired pretty sure everyone will get sick of me and my comments. lol, hopefully not.

I was out and about with the Deardorff in late November. The sky was a bit blank, but it wasn't bad other than that. The shadows on the hills are pretty good.
I'm still having a little trouble with uneven development, but it's getting better.

Né en 1956 à La Guerche-de-Bretagne, France. Vit et travaille à Paris, France.
Alain Passard a grandi dans un milieu créatif : père musicien, grand-père vannier, mère couturière et grand-mère cuisinière l’influencent et l’initient au geste artistique. Aujourd’hui chef aux trois étoiles Michelin du restaurant Arpège à Paris, il crée en parallèle des installations artistiques. Son génie est salué dans le monde entier et célébré dans l’album de Christophe Blain En cuisine avec Alain Passard (Éditions Gallimard). Cuisiner et jardinier, il a retiré la viande rouge de sa carte il y a plus de quinze ans et cultive ses légumes, fleurs et racines dans ses jardins. Pour Alain Passard, la main et la forme des doigts fondent le mouvement artistique. Pour lui, il n’y a pas de rupture entre espace culinaire et espace artistique : la continuité est le mot-clé de son processus créatif en cuisine comme dans la fonderie où il crée ses sculptures. Découper, accommoder, présenter, cuisiner, ciseler, mouler, monter… ces gestes se retrouvent dans les collages, bronzes et vitraux d’Alain Passard. Avec le Homard, sa première sculpture en bronze réalisée en 1996, il immortalise son geste visionnaire de découpe. Aujourd’hui, il s’inspire de la nature pour éveiller les papilles et régaler les yeux avec audace et innovation.
L’œuvre pour Paris La Défense
« En cuisine le fouet est un objet étonnant, il est le prolongement de la main du cuisinier. Que ce soit pour faire une vinaigrette ou pour faire monter une mayonnaise, il s’agit toujours d’un mouvement très élégant, très précis. Prolongement des doigts, mobile et léger, il transcrit le geste suspendu de la main ». Alain Passard Le chef étoilé a voulu magnifier cet ustensile en l’agrandissant pour lui rendre hommage et le sublimer. Installé dans son jardin, le fouet devient un arbre parmi les arbres, le manche un tronc et les branches se mêlent aux feuillages. À Paris La Défense, le fouet étonne, surprend et questionne avec humour les architectures vertigineuses des tours. Il reflète la main qui se cache derrière tout geste créatif mais rappelle aussi avec subtilité l’évolution du quartier, avec l’implantation de nombreux restaurants.

On 30 August 2021, I decided, after seeing rain in the forecast for a few coming days, to do a long drive NE of Calgary, to the Badlands. Knowing that it was getting dark earlier and earlier in the evenings, I knew that I was running out of days on which I would be able to do these long drives. My main destinations to call in at were in the Drumheller area.
I had longed to go out there for so many years. It must have been 30+ years ago that I first saw one particular area of the Badlands of Alberta. A few times, I had been fairly close when I went on several botany trips out that way, but when you are carpooling, you can't just go wherever you want. So, on 29 September 2014, my youngest daughter and I decided that we both wanted to make this trip. Since then, I believe I have only driven that way once more, on 5 August 2019, until this most recent trip. I was out for nine hours and much of that time was actual driving. The further east I went, the more I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere.
Amazingly, the weather was good, with blue sky most of the time. It still seems strange to see blue sky and not overcast and smoky from the British Columbia wildfires. I think the temperature got up to about 28C, so not unbearably hot.
The first thing I photographed was a rather attractive moth, resting next to my front door outside. It may have been the moth that I had photographed earlier, on my bathroom ceiling.
About half way on the drive, I drove several back roads to take another look at an old barn I fell in love with last winter, while searching for a Snowy Owl. I was shocked and saddened to find no sign of the old barn except for a pile of wood that had collapsed or been pulled down. Maybe it was becoming dangerously unsafe in the farmyard.
Feeling somewhat 'down', I continued on my way and eventually stopped to take a handful of photos of a fine church. It seems so out of place on the prairies. The church building, inspired by a typical Danish church, was finished in 1936, though there has been a church on this site since the first settlers arrived in Dalum in 1918.
Two new-to-me grain elevators were enjoyed and quickly photographed. It's not very often that I find one that I have never seen before.
A couple of times, I stopped to take a few photos of wild Sunflowers that were growing at the edge of two or three gravel roads. An attractive moth was at rest on one of the flowers. Insects seem to really like these bright and cheery wildflowers.
It was a pleasant surprise to discover that there were not a lot of people at the Hoodoos. I have been there when there were endless crowds of visitors all over the place, making it difficult to take photos, and to find a parking spot. These natural "works of art" are so beautiful and interesting.
Driving further south, I stopped at one of my favourite places - an old almost-ghost town. Here, there are two lovely old country churches, old barns, old cars and tractors/farm equipment. Also, a very old, extremely weathered grain elevator that lost its roof in a storm a few years ago. Such a shame that it has never been replaced. I love the Badlands setting for this prairie sentinel.
A final place to call in at was The Last Saloon, where I bought some Sweet Potato Fries 'to go'. This is a very popular place, including with motorcyclists.
Having left home in the morning a few minutes after 9:00 am, I finally reached home about 6:00 pm, happy and tired out. A great day, full of lots of things to see. Though they were all familiar, they are always fun to see and photograph again. Hope to get in another drive or two in the next couple of weeks, before the snow arrives and stays on the ground for seven months! Where did the summer go?!
