17th December 2021 :
The sun came out and it even stopped raining for long enough to get out for a short walk around my nature reserve (or the car park). So glad I did as I found this Drone Fly enjoying the sun and some nectar.
Was a bit surprised to see one so late in the year, but it was good.

Spent the weekend in the beautiful Kanab Utah during the Kanab Utah hot air balloon festival. Their was a lot of cool balloons, a street street fair, with bands and food, and even a paper lantern lighting. Was great, I want to make it an annual happening for me.

Images like this are why you always should have a camera handy. We were eating dinner at Denny's diner when we stepped out of the restaurant, there was a beautiful sunset in the Northwest side of Las Vegas, Nevada. One doesn't think that the parking lot of a Pep Boy's garage would make for a beautiful sunset landscape, but with the palm trees and the light coming out of the garage I thought it was a spectacular image.

La construction du parc Monceau remonte au XVIIe siècle, sous l’impulsion du duc de Chartres.
la Naumachie (inspiré des naumachies de l'Antiquité romaine, spectacles de batailles navales), bassin ovale bordé d'une colonnade corinthienne qui provient de la Rotonde des Valois, le monument funéraire imaginé par Catherine de Médicis en 1559 pour son époux en ajout à la basilique Saint-Denis et détruit en 1719 ; les colonnes furent récupérées et installées par Carmontelle pour décorer le bassin.
The construction of the Parc Monceau dates back to the 17th century, at the instigation of the Duke of Chartres.
the Naumachie (inspired by the ancient Roman naumachies, naval battle spectacles), an oval basin bordered by a Corinthian colonnade which comes from the Rotonde des Valois, the funerary monument designed by Catherine de Médicis in 1559 for her husband as an addition to the Saint-Denis basilica and destroyed in 1719; the columns were recovered and installed by Carmontelle to decorate the basin.
Les Chevaux de Marly furent commandés en 1739 par Louis XV au sculpteur Guillaume Coustou, pour orner « l’abreuvoir de Marly » situé à l'entrée du parc du château de Marly.
Les modèles sont choisis par le roi en 1743, et furent installés à Marly en 1745, après seulement deux ans de travail.
En 1794, ils sont transférés place de la Concorde.
En 1984, notamment en raison du fait que le défilé des blindés du 14 Juillet les fragilisait, ils sont remplacés par des copies en marbre reconstitué réalisées par Michel Bourbon dans l'atelier d'une filiale de Bouygues.
The "Chevaux de Marly" were commissioned in 1739 by Louis XV to the sculptor Guillaume Coustou, to decorate the "abreuvoir de Marly" (watering hole) located at the entrance to the park of the Château de Marly.
The models were chosen by the king in 1743, and were installed in Marly in 1745, after only two years of work.
In 1794, they were transferred to the Place de la Concorde.
In 1984, mainly because the armoured parade on 14 July weakened them, they were replaced by copies in reconstituted marble made by Michel Bourbon in the workshop of a subsidiary of Bouygues.

Note for Maria : I took a series of pictures with "real" mushroom last Saturday ! And did not get back to the forest because the weather was not fine at all at my place ... so I used ... yesterday's "dots" ... ;-)
