My Valentines message. :)

I've been wanting to try to decorate a candle like this for ages!! I've got a week off work and had time to finally give it a go.

First draw your design on tissue paper, then wrap your paper around a candle. Next grab some waxed paper and wrap it around the candle. (so you have 2 layers now, the tissue paper and waxed paper). Then you carefully hover a heat gun or in my case, I used a hairdryer around the candle. You will see the colour of the paper changing - it kinda melts into the wax. As this was my first time, I wasn't sure how it would go and wanted to use a pattern that was fairly quick to draw as I was very eager to jump right in - I used Mi2 - a longtime favourite of mine. I hope you like it - thanks for looking :)

This is a tiny one , 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 ... All done with markers, just love thier vivid colors! ... 5:45 AM ... just heading off to sleep, still have my days & nites turned around! ... Still love to tangle in the wee hrs. when all is quiet & peaceful! .... Hope everyone is having a great week-end! ... I actually left the house for the first time in 3 weeks, so glad it's a little warmer & most of the snow is off the ground! :) ... Was going to post this actual size, it's off by about by 2/8 of an inch , & I'm too tired to do it over, next time! :)

Been really busy the last couple of days. I have finished all my postcards for the swap (15 plus 1 extra for good luck) - we were to use no more than 3 tangles. I loved doing these and the size is just right.

I hope you like them :)

thank you for your visit - your comments are most welcome and very much appreciated :)

I've been wanting to tangle on these purchased letters for ages and finally got around to it. At first I wasn't too impressed with my patterns of choice but they soon gelled - I think the addition of red just finished the piece off nicely. My daughter is happy with it and says she's taking it to work to pretty up her workstation. It wasn't an easy medium to work with - I used a thicker permanent marker as the finer one was harder to work with and was quite faint. Now for the letter 'D' for one of my nieces. :)

"mum, I need a new book bag"

"where's last years?"

Dont know. I need another one."

"well, there are two perfectly good ones there, pick one"

"but they have Boys names on"

"I'll fix that. Get me a vivid" '(sharpie)

result, one perfectly acceptable book bag!

This was fun to do, and I actually Zentangled in the true sense. No pencil, no rubber, no plan. Just did!

finally was able to print the template in full. This week's dare was to use paper you haven't used before. I used baking paper - idea from 'Nolansmanned' and 'Isleofskyelorry'. Thank you Fi and Lorraine. The plan was to trace the template - I ended up using the paper for tangling as well. I used a much thicker pen than I normally do , as the paper is a little waxy - I used a permanent marker 'Artline'. It was quite nice working with baking paper. The pen seemed to soak into the waxy paper, which was quite smooth to work with. Because of the thicker pen, I left the design work fairly plain.

Weekly Challenge #122: "Grid (un)Locked - here I've used Tangle String Number 54

thanks for your visit :)

This is the original piece, & was just scanned in & showed up this way, colors are true or very close to it ... I've done 2 more variations of colors & a B&W in my photo program to stretch what I can get out of a piece for card making or prints etc., this was done on 8 1/2x11 black cardstock , I drew the design with a pale green metallic marker & then came back in & added color with Prisma colored pencils :)

For challenge #17 ... set my timer for 15 min., after the 1st couple of trys when I thought I could watch the clock and went way over the time limit! ... anyway this is what I got ... don't think it is in my nature to be in a rush anymore! Kind of stressed me out a little bit , I usually start my work out pretty slow & pick up speed as I go ... this was a race from start to finish .. but at least I finished on the 3rd try! :)

someone asked if anyone did progress pics. This started as a circle with a very simple string (the two lines of the ribbon), and built from there.

Next pic is with the shading added.

found some Bingo dabbers, the lilac dabbed nicely, i dabbed the blue and a huge blob came out so I thought to myself ' i can't have only one blob - it would look suspicious :)) so then I had an idea, make some more blobs, turn the book upright and allow the 'paint' to drip..... and so be it.

I'm happy with the way this turned out, especially as I used 2 patterns that I came up with when I awoke this morning. (I haven't seen them anywhere before - when I post the pattern I will add how they came to be) I'm calling one 'Thumbkin' and the other is versatile....the original idea is called 'offerings', however surprise surprise, when you turn it upside down it looks like a person in a robe - so I'm calling it ' the robe'... thanks for looking

This was an odd shape - I didn't realise it only had 7 points until after I started doing one - then I remembered what Erin wrote on her Blogg - it was different than other templates. It was interesting to say the least - not really sure how I was going to tackle it - I ended up doing 3 very different looking Zendalas.

thanks for looking.
