At the end of the Camera Club meeting Jon, Stuart and myself stayed to take advantage of the dark skies in Padbury and to try and shoot some meteors and stars. The cloud thwarted us somewhat but we saw many meteors in the hour we were there. Sadly I didn't have the camera set up quite right and the meteors were too faint - I needed to shoot for the meteors not the stars. One is visible here left of the bright Jupiter in the centre of the shot. Next time.

The temporary track being used by Top Gear for the filming today passes the Jaipur restaurant, before turning around the Avebury Roundabout and heading back along Grafton Street. Slowly the Milton Keynes race circuit is taking shape...

My first attempt at panoramic stitching, using seven shots from left to right taken vertically with the zoom lens at 145mm. Took a while to get the exposure right and steady throughout, but other than the stitching and a tiny bit of sharpening this is straight from camera. The total file size is almost 90MP! Shot from the bridge over Marlborough Street on the final night of the annual Funfair.

4th August 2012 - Super Saturday in the London 2012 Olympics. Lots of on-track action but just outside the track Milton Keynes' Greg Rutherford was leaping to Olympic Gold in the Long Jump. A truly memorable evening.
First image I've edited AND uploaded with Lightroom, which I'm experimenting with to possibly replace Aperture. Initial impressions are that the editing power is much better but the whole thing seems way too complicated!

The Falkirk Kelpies loom large along the M9 in Helix Park. These 30-metre high horses head sculptures were completed in October 2013 and sit in a new area of parkland called The Helix, and are the gateway to the Forth & Clyde Canal - with a lock between them. As the colours rotates and change these are certainly impressive structures, and somewhat of a shock to see them at speed on the M9 looming over the hedge!

I didn't get a proper chance to explore around the Shard - I only saw it from around the London Bridge station area. A huge and impressive structure, but one I suspect will be tricky to photograph up close and do any real justice to it as with so many of these modern buildings in London.

Neil guides the Citation X in to land on Runway 03 at Cranfield after a flight from Russia. This is I believe the first visit of a Citation X into Cranfield, and the darkening skies prevented a shot of the stunning livery but did give a rather nice silhouette.

Late evening within the main glass building at Center Parcs Longleat - The Plaza. So many trees it becomes difficult to get any sort of shot to reflect what the building is like, let alone anything approaching artistic. This was a HDR image created from 3 shots all at f/8 of varying exposures and actually makes the building seem brighter than it really is.

Part of the Chatham Historic Dockyard, with the ship HMS Gannet docked above the submarine HMS Ocelot. HMS Ocelot is an Oberon-class diesel-electric submarine which was commissioned in 1964 and served until decommissioning in 1991. HMS Gannet is a much older ship, launched in 1878 and was preserved in 1987.

Megan bought her first cycle helmet today, and a new bike to boot (albeit second hand) and loved them both straight away - she's done many miles already today and will be sleeping well tonight! More of a test shot than anything else - I today received a D610 from Nikon to replace the D600 with the oil spots...Hoorah.
