In the past two years I've shot the Campbell Park Fireworks over Xscape and from the park itself. This year I went to the bottom of the park and to the eastern end of Willen Lake. There may be an element of photoshopping to this as the fireworks all overlapped a bit more than expected but the result wasn't bad - specially with the Theatre and the Fair visible as well. Fortunately the rain didn't spoil the shot either!

I've revisited the Coke cans shot in preparation for next months "Patterns" competition. The ring pulls are now all facing north, and I tried shooting using just the modeling lights in the softboxes with white reflectors either side to make the light more even. The open can istwisted through 90º to break the pattern further. I like this one more. MUCH more.

The Lego train whistles at speed through Hogwarts Station, where a variety of characters from racing drivers to ghosts wait for the train.
First time trying out Linda's new Canon Powershot G15 and was quite impressed. Some good results...

Looking different to when we visited the Olympic Park in 2012 the London Aquatics Centre has lost the "wings" either side of the building and large windows now fill the gap. Probably an even more spectacular building now with no straight lines and curves visible everywhere.

The Pitstone Windmill is believed to be the oldest windmill in the British Isles, and is dated 1627. Its working career was ended in the Great Storm of 1902, and is now maintained by the National Trust. Sunset tonight was spectacular with this as the foreground, the camera didn't quite do the colours in the sky justice.

While we were sitting on the pier this lady strolled up in front of us - four guys with cameras - and we are sure she stood there deliberately. The colour of her hair and the skirt blowing in the wind made it a shot and a half. Very pleased with it.

An Aeroflot Airbus A330 in the flare over the piano keys on runway 09L at Heathrow, as viewed from the terrace in the Thistle Hotel, who were quite happy for us to stay there for a couple of hours. The light wasn't ideal with the sun in front and above us, but some reasonable shots have been grabbed - this would be a good spot early in the morning, or on a damp day with lots of vortices about. Nice to get some background interest in the Heathrow shots too.

An Atlas V rocket blazes into the night sky from LC-41. On board is NASA's new Tracking and Data Relay Satellite, TDRS-K, the first of three new satellites that will replace older satellites currently in orbit. Lots of people were parked up along the highway and in the car park by the Indian River to catch this first launch of 2013, I was glad this came out as well as it did - I almost missed it by looking the wrong way as it launched!

OK, who opened the can? A pattern of cans with an obvious mistake to break the mould. Lighting this with the studio lights was tricky as the camera was directly overhead - a ring flash might have helped - but this came pretty close to even lighting.
Thanks to Humphrey Hippo for the inspiration behind this pattern shot...and also to the Cafe at the airfield for loaning me a tray of Coke for the evening!

Piano keys reflected in the belly this French Military A340-200 is just a second or so from touchdown at Birmingham, inbound to collect an orchestra before returning to Paris. As you do.
Reuploaded now I'm home, been experimenting with an eye-fi card and downloading straight to the iPhone. My iPhone editing skills while outdoors leave a fair bit to be desired!!

The lake of Lyn Mwyngil is southwest of us through the valley. Having traveled all this way I expected and hoped to see fast jets through here, but sadly there was to be none. Did see some big showers - even sleet at one point which was a rude shock in August…!

A different pose by Suzanne and a less revealing one, I've left this in colour and toned the wood slightly - and am very very pleased with the result!

The main atrium in the British Museum is this impressive structure, with a huge glass roof extending from the central Reading Room. Bright and airy this was an interesting place to try and photograph, the people moving makes it look more alive too.

The River Thames is mid-tide when I got there - a contradiction to what I was expecting from a website this morning, and the sky lacked slightly the definition I wanted. Still, managed to get a 45sec exposure of the river flowing beneath the bridge. Couldn't encourage the geese to move for anything, so they look sort of ghostly!
