A short walk from the visitor centre brings you to the base of the Derwent Dam, the middle of the three dams. This dam was completed in 1916, and is 36m high, and 914m long. The water overflows when Derwent Water above is high and the water runs down into the Ladybower Reservoir. Impressive noise as the water cascades over almost 750,000 bricks.

The Headquarters of Network Rail sits on the former site of the National Hockey Stadium, and is a typically large building with some interesting reflections in the windows. Odd panels too at the side, but this is an "eco" building I guess.

Moving from the river to the top of the hill the Clifton Suspension Bridge looks even more impressive. 50p is the toll to take the car across, the houses behind where this shot was taken must have a health price tag on them, the view is stunning!

The West Pier at Brighton is a Grade I listed building - what is left of it. Built in 1866 the pier closed in 1975 and has been badly damaged by fire and the weather since. This is a 25sec exposure with two ND16, one ND8 and a polarizing filter stacked to give the dreamy water. This is a re-edit for the Camera Club following comments by a judge, a little bit of cropping, cloning out a pole at the bottom and adding a light vignette.

At the foot of Howden Dam is this large warning sign. I hadn't realised that it was drinking water - another sign said that - but the fine for committing nuisance was sufficiently high that I didn't dare go for a swim. That and the temperature of 2C.
