Without a doubt my favourite animal at Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park is the Armadillo! Armadillo is Spanish for 'little armoured ones'!
The Six-banded Armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) is the third largest species of armadillo in the world. On average, an adult measures 40cm long and has a tail two-thirds this length. They are distinguished by their pointed and flattened heads, which are covered by large plates arranged in a distinctive pattern. Their body consists of 6 moveable bands (hence their name), which are covered with thin grey-brown hair.
Six-banded armadillos have very poor eyesight, relying on their keen sense of smell to detect prey and predators. The six-banded armadillo is mostly diurnal so they are active during the day. Unlike other species of armadillo, the six-banded armadillo cannot roll into a ball, so they avoid their predators by fleeing into a nearby burrow, they are fantastic diggers!
Six-banded armadillos are found throughout Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Suriname and Uruguay in South America. They can be found in various habitats, from grassland to rainforest, but they are mainly found on open plains.

I loved to make this photo. I needed something difficult enough to make myself feel challenged and doing this shot really was a challenge! I did the bodypaint all by myself, though I used a very useful tutorial I found on youtube. In particular I spent a lot of time doing the facial make-up in order to give my face a very doll-like look. I'm happy with the result and I wish you will like it too ^_^

Sightings of hummingbirds were rare on our trip to Puerto Rico so this strikingly beautiful Green Mango was a welcome find in a private garden in the mountains. This large species of hummingbird is endemic to the main island of Puerto Rico. It is usually found in the mountainous regions of the island, often in coffee and other kind of plantations.

A Basílica de São Pedro (em latim Basilica Sancti Petri, em italiano Basilica di San Pietro) é uma basílica no Estado do Vaticano, tratando-se da maior das igrejas do cristianismo e um dos locais cristãos mais visitados. Cobre um área de 23000 m² ou 2,3 hectares (5.7 acres) e pode albergar mais de 60 mil devotos (mais de cem vezes a população do Vaticano). É o edifício com o interior mais proeminente do Vaticano, sendo sua cúpula uma característica dominante do horizonte de Roma, sendo adornada com 340 estátuas de santos, mártires e anjos. Situada na Praça de São Pedro, sua construção recebeu contribuições de alguns dos maiores artistas da história da humanidade, tais como Bramante, Michelangelo, Rafael e Bernini.
Foi provado que sob o altar da basílica está enterrado São Pedro (de onde provém o nome da basílica) um dos doze apóstolos de Jesus e o primeiro Papa e, portanto, o primeiro na linha da sucessão papal. The Papal Basilica of Saint Peter (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri), officially known in Italian as the Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano and commonly known as St. Peter's Basilica, is a Late Renaissance church located within the Vatican City. St. Peter's Basilica has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world, holding 60,000 people. It is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic sites. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".
In Catholic tradition, the basilica is the burial site of its namesake Saint Peter, who was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and, according to tradition, first Bishop of Rome and therefore first in the line of the papal succession. Tradition and some historical evidence hold that Saint Peter's tomb is directly below the altar of the basilica. For this reason, many Popes have been interred at St Peter's since the Early Christian period. There has been a church on this site since the 4th century. Construction of the present basilica, over the old Constantinian basilica, began on April 18, 1506 and was completed on November 18, 1626.
St. Peter's is famous as a place of pilgrimage, for its liturgical functions and for its historical associations. It is associated with the papacy, with the Counter-reformation and with numerous artists, most significantly Michelangelo. As a work of architecture, it is regarded as the greatest building of its age. Contrary to popular misconception, Saint Peter's is not a cathedral, as it is not the seat of a bishop. St Michael's Church Without is a Church of England parish church in Bath, Somerset. There has been a church at this location since the 12th century. The current building is its fourth reincarnation. It was designed by George Manners and completed in 1833.
