Shuttle Enterprise OV-101 built by Rockwell International for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle program to perform atmospheric test flights being launched from a modified Boeing 747. It was constructed without engines or a functional heat shield. As a result, it was not capable of spaceflight.
When the heart feels heavy, I breathe.
When the future feels tangled, I breathe.
When I don’t know what to do, I return to stillness.
In this breath, I am not lost.
In this breath, I am home.

Part 2: would be the colored and will be uploaded sooooon >.<
I have always heard of dark emotions, and I even thought I knew what those things were. This month registered a whole new level of emotions that I don’t even think I realized existed. I always think I can empathize with hurting people in different situations, but nothing quite compares to being thrown into the pits yourself. I woke up the other day flooded with all these feelings, and immediately envisioned everything running into one blurred state, soon becoming the premise for this photograph. Things are definitely looking up, and the color is starting to return to the world, but for a while everything seemed pretty dark and blurred. This is one of those photographs that kept me up until it was completed, and I couldn’t be happier to have expressed my emotions in this piece. One of the best parts of being an artist is being able to use everything, even the darkest moments, for the creation of something beautiful.
I am thankful for the darkness, because without it there would be no glory in light. However, my preference is definitely to stay in the light and observe the dark from afar; understanding, but not embracing.
A note on how this was made:
This was pretty simple, time consuming but simple. I took wax and watered-down paint, and had fun running them down a windowpane. I also used some dyes to get thinner streaks of color within the paint streaks, until I was satisfied with the outcome. SUPER fun to make! I am backlit w/ natural window light in front.

In those days when our hearts were true
Nothing could change that strange debut
Our dreams were steadfast it’s what we knew
The future was clear it would see us through
In those days when our hearts were true
Time and tide played a changing game
We were unable to be the same.
In those long days when we lost our aim
The spinning reel of time overcame
Then there was that day of acclaim
It was all untrue that much we knew
But some took a long and different view
Much was said and taken to accrue
against our way, our loss then grew
In those days when our hearts were true
The break then came, the fracture made
The split that placed us in the shade
Our fright was such and truth mislaid
Nothing could reach such a tirade
As strangers then we were unmade
No longer then with hearts of truth
Abandoned there without our youth
The day was dark and I moved south
And I was marked then as a sleuth
In those days with hearts untrue

Call me when you arrive!
Something artistic, with a fading colour key. Who hasn't heard this phrase from parents, partners, etc.? Or who doesn't say it regularly to their children, partners, etc.? The recipient of the request may find it annoying at times, but it's actually a lovely phrase that shows care and love. Isn't that right?

Today marks both the First Day of Spring and Psalm Sunday. Although we still have snow and it is a cold day, my spirits were warmed at Sunday morning service in Church this morning. Have a blessed day friends.
“When photographing women, we have three paths: photograph them with the "male gaze” ; photograph them as "photographer eyes” and photograph them as "poet feeling”. I always try to be the three ...” by Old Roger
I knew I was looking through my macro lens at a very pretty butterfly, but when I got around to processing I could hardly believe the spectacular colour patterns on the underside of its wings.
That tiny strip of out-of-focus material at the bottom bothers me; I wish I could have avoided it somehow, or at least the small portion that rises up at the centre. It's a small thing, yes, but I'm a perfectionist. And I understand that there is no such thing as perfection. We live with our contradictions. I enjoy the challenge of trying to come away with the photo I envision - exactly, no compromises. It happens so rarely...
Lying flat in the muck near a side branch of the river, I couldn't do much to change the angle of view because I didn't want to scare the butterfly away. I love the look of this little critter anyway. And I enjoyed the process - trying to put it all together in the field - as much as creating the final result. Probably more.
I did put more effort into photographing butterflies this past summer than I have for several years, and have to say I have a greater appreciation for photographers who create excellent, flawless images of them. It takes hard work and dedication. Somehow I was reminded of my first published photos, in photo magazines back in the 1970s. I think my first three submissions were accepted. I thought I was hot stuff. Then I received about ten rejections in a row, and came back down to earth. With this photo, I came to earth - literally and figuratively. More butterflies to follow as I round out the current insect series before moving on to something else.

This is a tiny 1:12 scale replica of the Vitra Eames House Bird, which was designed by Charles and Ray Eames and popular in the 1950s. It's made from resin and has incredibly skinny metal legs. Its tail and legs form a perfect tripod and help to make it surprisingly stable. The armchair and cushion are also dolls house scale. The cushion is just about 1" square.
I didn't have a micro-bike, so I quickly made one, out of wire scraps.
One could argue that the bike isn't fully functional, but you can't deny the weight is down to a bare minimum...
(the size of the visible part is just shy of 7.5cm)
Soft light, calm expression, and an effortless presence. Wrapped in white and framed by warm tones, she looks completely at ease—natural, confident, and unmistakably herself.

Freedom from a world which you deny
And you’ll give it to me now
I’ll take it anyhow

This doorway inside the NGV at Federation Square could well be the frame to a cubist work. In fact the whole building could be described as Postmodern Cubism.
All good days must come to an end. This time the end was just as good as the whole day, it was magical...

When hunting for frogs on Saturday evening I found this adult dragonfly in the process of emerging from its larval shell. At this stage its body was still soft and the wings had not yet expanded.
