Even though we remain hovering right at the freezing point, early this morning big, fluffy, and wet snowflakes began to fall, continuing even now and providing a beautiful, fresh white accent to the landscape...the northwoods' annual celebration of the season. This shot, as with so many others over the years, taken from my deck.
[This is also the time of year at which I get confused as to whom I've wished Season's Greetings and to whom I have not. Forgive me if I repeat myself and, in the spirit of the holidays, be patient with an old man, accepting good wishes however often they may be repeated. It's the thought, not the memory, that counts. ;-))]
As we aproached the lake, I heard some fellow hikers exclaim "It looks like they use food colouring here!" I thought: photo-op. I don't use any of the 'magical' settings on my camera, but this time I didn't have my glasses on. When I got back home and looked at the pic on my computer I thought "What the heck!" I must have inadvertantly moved the dial. Even though I almost deleted it, after a while this funky image kind of grew on me. Next time though, I will have my glasses on.

When I spotted a tiny Spider on this Rose, I thought about the little guy’s world and how all things that happen to the rose will in some way affect that little spider.
Hopefully he will move on before a human sprays the rose with chemicals and alters his universe.

When the first snowdrops shyly show their little heads from the sunlit spots. I love how the sun's rays warm my face so I can feel a tingle on my skin. In order to bridge the long time until then, I have created a refuge here that tells me that spring will soon bring nature to bloom with all its beautiful colors.

I took this photo for the Happy Caturday theme "Sleepy Cats". Getting a photo for this theme wasn't as easy as it seems. Yes, cats sleep a lot, but they are suddenly wide awake if you point a camera at them. :)
