Raven arrived as a 12-week-old puppy on Sunday June 29th. We took him and Clay out for an evening walk to the field where he kept surprising Clay by jumping up high in the tall grass! I think they are going to have loads of fun together. Ansel is still thinking about it. But Raven is doing really great with his potty training and getting to know us and his new home!! He fits in perfectly!!
Draw. So they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace and I was hoping for a win. Lots to look forward to in 2018!!
Thank you to everyone who commented on my photographs and it was an occasional struggle to do justice to some of the competitions. Pleased it is completed for the third year in a row.

The above explanation explains my failed attempt here. I was trying to hold the camera closer to the ground and get Cruise in a nice blind capture.
I had trouble with getting things in focus and capturing all of Cruise in the shot. It was a nice day to get out and play around and use the natural sunlight but I just realized that it may have been easier on me if I'd done this indoors. I guess I added to the challenge trying to capture a Longhaired Whippet with his speed and all... completely shooting blind.
What was I thinking??
Anyway, this is the shot I choose because his feet were in focus and although I didn't have all of him in the picture... I did get all of his shadow...LOL! The focus on the ground was pretty good under his feet too.
I apologize to the group and will need to take some more time practicing this kind of shot. It is all a learning experience :-) I am not a professional by any means. This was a fun challenge although it wasn't my best capture. This photo is also all natural... no cropping or touch ups in anyway.
Viewing it larger is better I think.
27/52: Falling Autumn
September 30 - October 6
Again this week, I put this project on the back burner so that I could focus on the other things.
However if I am doing this project, it is always in my head and I always want to go out to shoot.
Anyways, today is Sunday and I had to upload a photo today, so I had to shoot something.
I went to Nakajima Park just in front of my apartment to look for something to shoot. After walking for a while, I wanted to shoot something shows Autumn and the color, but it was around 8pm and quite dark. Then I found this spot light lighting the one of the sculpture in the park.

Hugging the pillow, surrounded by white sheets, the light never looked so disturbing and as every morning, I saw blur in my awakening.
A blast of thoughts seemed to invade my mind within two seconds, then I started to remember things that never happened, things that I wish that had happened. Why sometimes dreams are so confusing? They make no sense, but they couldnt be more beautiful, but how am I expected to smile at a new day, when the night gave me artificial and wonderful moments?
I'd lie if I said that I wasn't happy for a moment, that I didn't grin when I thought you were with me.
But as the dream burst into my mind, the reality punched me in the heart.

Not included in full in this combo …but I did three pages of sermon/ reading notes...Here is one ... that was badly affected by my
disaster with my sketchbook… water bottle leakage…I am just a touch distressed – mainly because it is a special gifted sketchbook…I feel more responsible as the sketchbook is half Paul Wangs(his artwork is on the cover!) I might give the pages another iron.
Monday
a public holiday and we had a family day- the attempt to sketch was made but the result incomplete…there is too much going on at the moment for me to bother the finish the page.
In the evening, I decided to start a comparison between watercolour and marker…not quite fair as the paper favours the marker… but this has been posted separately.
Tuesday
on the way to a weekly medical appointment at 8am- very quick sketch…I felt like this was 'urban sketching meeting work sketching'…I am very happy that the last few weeks has developed my markering skills to a point that I will be easily able to sketch in the rapid pace required during a design sketching process and use thinking sketches (colouring is part of hte process) for presentation to clients. At the moment I am in the middle of serious documentation phase... so no pretty sketches for me at the moment!
Evening: a sketch of one of the teas I got on Saturday. Alissa sketched the flowers as object, I sketched them as part of the experience of drinking the tea..and the cup as well!
Wednesday
a little late getting early to work (if that makes sense) so a quick brisk walk to the rest park and a quick straight to colours sketch from a seated position in the sun. Still unhappy with my big masses of dark green. Eneded up going to the same spot (almost) at lunch and then in the evening did some tests for green
Thursday
Back to St Leonards church in the morning and then crazy sketch in the car in traffic (in the dark) and then quick sketch of a room in the house I haven’t sketched before

Another semi detached house morning sketch.
Other days…
I was doing a programme for a project at work for the rest of the year, and so thought I would do a personal one as well… nice and empty at the moment.
A clothes packing page (slightly obscured to fill in the gap) …don’t worry I am not going on vacation again… but I am going ‘away’ for a few weeks…more later.
I don't even know. Ever feel caught before hoping to get away yet wanting to settle down on a routine? I feel lost & tied down. I just don't know.

This ring has a neat story to go with it. It belonged to a lady that was like a second mom to my Mother when she was a girl. The lady's name was June and she had been a showgirl in Boston during the 1930's. While there June had a boyfriend who was an Olympic and then professional wrestler Ed Don George (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Don_George). He had this ring made for her. My mom always admired the ring when she was a girl.
Years later when I was a little girl, we would go to June's house to take care of her as she was dying of cancer. She never had children of her own so she left this ring to my Mother. I always loved the ring when I was a little girl. Purple was my favorite color and it is also my birthstone. When I turned 21 my mom gave the ring to me. One day I will pass it on to one of my daughters (it is both of their birthstone as well).
I even have a 1933 bubble gum trading card of Ed Don George's that I bought on eBay.

This is Þórunn M. Lárusdóttir, 49 years old and lives in Reykjavik. She has been married almost 30 years, has three children and two grandcildren and works for the Foreign Ministry doing translations, a recent career change for her as she had been working as a nurse for more than 20 years. She is my mother.
I wanted to portray my mother and father doing something that they do in their free time, my father playing the guitar and my mother in her outdoor attire. They love to go out wandering all over the country and even go abroad every year to hike up some foreign mountains, like we don´t have enough of them right here in Iceland, hehe :)
This shot is actually just a photo I took to meter the scene by histogram and she wasn´t posing, it turned out to be my favore from this shoot. Went out late to take advantage of the soft light that the Icelandic summer evenings give and only used ambient lighting for this, nothing else. This is shot by the roots of the mountain Esja.

I thought about doing some frozen art + light play which would have been fun but being slightly morbid sounded better.
Wow this week was hard, simplicity does not describe my life at the moment. Everything, including my mind, is cluttered and messy.
The only think I could think of, that was simple, is the love for my family. It doesn't require explaination or any thought put into it it's just there, no matter what. It's the sweetest feeling ever!
