The aim for this photo was to add a 'fall' effect on the photo. As the photo was based around a forest and leaves I thought this would be a reasonable edit. Starting off I used 'Selective Colour' and changed the greens and the yellows until the colours of the photo starting being more similiar to those in autumn. After, I then added levels and colour curves to get an appropriate colour correction. After this I realised the grass was at an unrealistic colour, so I decided to overlay the grass with a green brush and then changed the opacity. I feel this edit has worked perfectly to show off autumn colours.
School will start tomorrow. I'm very very unmotivated. It looks like I wont have much free time because my week will be full with appointments and I have no idea how i can handle them. Yesterday I made a little plan and wrote everything down - it looks like I have to be at two places at once. I'm afraid that I might have planned way too much. Hopefully i can get along with it.

alice and i were on a mini-vacation this past weekend in the appalachian mountains of western maryland. i was a bit worried we wouldn't get to go, after the discovery of the bone at the end of last week... but since alice was feeling so well, we went ahead and took the trip and i am so happy that we did! it was a fantastic time!! we went hiking at antietam national battlefield on the way out, to break up the six hour drive.
sunday morning, we competed in the dockdogs competition at 10:00 (alice jumped 17 feet 9 inches... a new personal best!) and then we went hiking in the potomac-garrett state forest where dogs are allowed to be off leash. yayyy!!! it was a beautiful, peaceful place and we were once again the sole users on the trail.
monday morning we did dockdogs again and alice did 15 feet and some inches on both jumps, which meant we were still in line for the finals! we stayed around, and sure enough we made it in as the fourth place team. her two jumps in finals were in the 16 foot range, not good enough to win but we did get seventh place, a lovely rosette, and a bag of goodies. i was so proud of my little mutt dog... of the 24 dogs who competed in finals, she was by far the smallest and one of only two mixed breeds. the other 22 dogs were all labrador retrievers! wait, maybe one was a golden retriever... can't remember. anyway, they had a very nice awards ceremony, and then we were back on the road for the long journey home, over the mountains and across the bay.
i took this photo during the break before finals, when we had some time to kill. i had been sneaking alice over to this grassy area all weekend to play ball or just have some time to relax outside, and kept admiring these cute little daisies growing there. i haven't made a daisy chain in years, but it was just as easy and fun as ever!! while everyone else was back at home sweating in the 90+ degree heat and humidity, alice and i were enjoying the comfort of the cool mountain air. i hope to go back again someday!
oh, as for the bone... we repeated the xrays today and see no evidence of it! i honestly have no idea where it went, as i was picking up after her on all potty breaks this weekend and checking for bone. i am guessing it was digested or broken down into smaller pieces and moved through undetected. hopefully i have learned a lesson from this, i have been watching her more closely when she is outside.

Élégie is a gift for Natasja and April/April-L♥ves-Blythe. I felt sad when Natasja and April no longer had any Blythes due to family necessities .... so I offered to make them a girl as a gift. Natasja sent me a stock T42 ebl and this beautiful teal scalp by Piparrot, and I am creating Élégie for them. This is her very first preview, just her teal and pink airbrushed make-up with silver shimmers ... more details to come later in the week, as well as a romantic dress of the beautiful teal silk dupioni you see her resting on here. Theme Of The Week - Stress
The standards and stress of women's beauty.
The first picture is how I look after I wake up. Then put on some make-up to cover up your zits and chickenpox scars, put in your contacts, take down your tank-top straps, and strike a pose. Then embrace your inner drag-queen and Stepford it up with photoshop.
I think women really stress themselves out over stuff like this. I went to the grocery store today looking like the first picture, and it was stressing me out because I was scared that I was going to run into someone I knew. The second picture is stressful because I wish I has used better lighting. The third is stressful because I know it is fake.
Anyway, women don't be so hard on yourselves because even Tyra, Cindy, and Kate have zits and "fat-days."
Olive turned 2.5 this week. Here is a glimpse of who she is in this moment:
Olive is still petite. She’s gained almost two pounds since her 18 month appointment a year ago, bringing weight up to 26 pounds.
She’s getting a little taller and measures 35 inches.
She wears 18 month shorts still since her waist is so tiny. I tried putting 18 month jeans on her and while they were still loose in the waist, they’re finally too short in length. She wears 24 month tops and dresses.
She finally had her first hair cut. She recently began twirling her hair again. She likes to have her hair up and in the morning she tells me how many ponytails she wants that day. She also loves clips and bows.
Actually, she loves all accessories. She likes putting on tutus, necklaces, sunglasses and purses. She still enjoys going into my closet and playing dress up with my clothes.
She’s potty trained but has regressed this summer in pulling her pants back up on her own.
She’s still a pretty good eater and will try almost anything at least once. The other night she downed a whole bowl of miso soup with tofu on her own. Her favorite foods are homemade tomato sauce (with or without pasta), turkey meatballs, broccoli, berries of all kinds (except raspberries), guacamole and chicken noodle soup.
Breakfast and dinner are her biggest meals while lunch she prefers to eat more bento style.
We still limit television to about 40 minutes or less a day. Some days we never turn on the television and other days she’ll watch more than we intended. After having minimal screen time before she was two, Olive has grown to really enjoy watching tv but only if it’s Peppa Pig.
When she watches television, besides reading books, it’s the only time of the day when she is quiet and still. She sits on her spot on the couch, pulls her blanket around her and zones in.
Olive loves playing with dolls, figurines and animals. She makes up stories and will play with her doll house or tree house for long stretches of time.
If she doesn’t have a “doll” around, she will personify any object. Recently she was drawing with colored pencils in the backseat and she started giving them voices and a story line.
She’s loosened up a lot and likes to run around and dance and be crazy. But she also likes her personal space and likes to play along side the action as much as she likes being in the middle of it.
She talks about ballet all of the time. I really hope she likes ballet as much as she imagines she will.
She can be whiny, demanding and bossy. She hates to be told that it’s time for bed and she’s not a fan of conversations she’s not actively part of.
She loves to sing. She was singing in the check out line in Target the other day and a woman asked what she was singing. I said that she was singing a song that she just made up and the woman smiled and said it was a sign of a joyful child.
Olive’s teachers at camp told us that she was funny, helpful and very loving.

this week we got a new boss, was a little worried at first but things arent so bad.

todays is my sister nems birthday :o) looked after her kids for a little while today, planned a shoot on the moors, unfortunately it rained so didnt get many pics :o(

This weeks challenge was hard. The sun was shining so there were lots of shadows but a silhouette was harder to find. I actually took time out to go and photograph this today (the statue outside Twickenham Rugby Stadium) as I hadn’t really got a photo during the week which was good enough. Love the vapour trail of the aeroplane ✈️ in the background. Taken around midday when the sun was quite high this was still a bit if a challenge.
This ring has a neat story to go with it. It belonged to a lady that was like a second mom to my Mother when she was a girl. The lady's name was June and she had been a showgirl in Boston during the 1930's. While there June had a boyfriend who was an Olympic and then professional wrestler Ed Don George (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Don_George). He had this ring made for her. My mom always admired the ring when she was a girl.
Years later when I was a little girl, we would go to June's house to take care of her as she was dying of cancer. She never had children of her own so she left this ring to my Mother. I always loved the ring when I was a little girl. Purple was my favorite color and it is also my birthstone. When I turned 21 my mom gave the ring to me. One day I will pass it on to one of my daughters (it is both of their birthstone as well).
I even have a 1933 bubble gum trading card of Ed Don George's that I bought on eBay.

Walking on the beaten path is never quite good enough for this girl. It is in her nature to explore. She has a way of finding adventure at every turn and most of the time that includes venturing off the beaten path.
