Mel got me back my UN books for my birthday (lost in the fire), including the new one called "The World Eats." Someone has the pics on flickr if you'd like to look. Anyway, here's our haul. Not as disgusting as I'd thought. But I'm not proud, especially compared to those well-veggied Bhutanese.
The verdict: I snack as much as I thought. Must learn to eat fresh fruits and veggies. 99% meat-free. And yes, we did get fast food once this week.

busy week at work, and surprisingly not many customers to write about ;o) i did have one woman ask me if the corn remover was for 'when you've got a messed up toe', hmm god knows what she'd done to it.....
* i spent my day off with bev and her 2 boys, we took photos in myrtle park, then went to get chips, such a lovely day :o)
* started reading a new book 'outbreak', yep, another zombie book ;o)
* watched 'under the dome', first episode seems good, lets see what the rest of the series brings :o)
* finally finished decorating the kitchen, it looks good (even if i do say so myself ;o), all i need now is the mask i made at school putting on the wall, then we're done :o)
After weeks of dull grey skies and no rain it decided to poor down for a while this morning. The garden needed it and it was fit for this week's theme.
The rain was bouncing nicely off the patio. It's wet out there, very wet.
More green from me! This time, a green smoothie. We drink a lot of green juices or green smoothies in our house. Amazing the difference it makes in how I feel!
This is a large piece of driftwood which has had some carving done on it. You just get the urge to touch it! I thought it made an interesting subject for this weeks theme! Spotted in our local garden centre where there are some 18 gardens (big and small) on display
I decided to try a 52-week photography challenge for 2016. The first week's assignment being a self portrait, I decided to try manual, off-camera flash using what I've learned from Scott Robert Lim's "Crazy Stupid Light" course.

Week #1

Lucas showing off his new haircut! He is preparing for his new adventure - PRESCHOOL!! I know this is super cheesy for the theme but everything I chose wasn't as meaningful "new" wise!!
I asked Arthur if he wanted to take a bath. This was how he was hiding. Haha.

I posted three videos, in case you want to see it. One of them shows how he's winking, only with the left eye (which is returning to normal). The other one shows him trying to hide to scape a bath and also him barking (arguing with me. If you pay attention you'll see that he have great points), where you can see that only the left side of his face is "working", which makes his expression kind of crooked. And the last one is just to show how happy he looks when taking a shower.
Since the left side of his face is coming back to normal I think it's an improvement, so he's better. Also there's no more fluid coming out of his right nose. Twice as better.
So that's all the news for this week.

The Maverick Stampede began full speed with the MavsMeet Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at College Park Center. University leaders and guest speaker deejay Edgar "Shoboy" Sotelo inspired students to do their best in the academic year ahead. The AfterParty provided a fun time before classes started the next day. The Welcome Week extends into September with social gatherings around campus so students canget to know each other and UT Arlington.
34 weeks! 5 weeks and change until our estimated due date! As Rob pointed out, we can count the weeks on one hand. Wowza.
This past Saturday we had our childbirth class.
We sounded like total hippies in the class. We were the only ones to openly talk about pursuing a natural, drug-free birth, and Rob even mentioned placenta encapsulation when the instructor asked us what happens to the placenta after delivery. The class was definitely education, especially when it came to the different stages of labor and coping techniques for the pain. It was great to actually try out all of the positions so we could get a feel for what may work best for us when the big day arrives. Also, Rob had to give me a back rub for a half hour. WIN!
The videos they showed were not exactly unbiased. They definitely suited our natural birth desires. But I wondered about the other people attending, especially the ones who want epidurals at the door. The course material was very blunt about the downsides of various medical interventions. I just wonder if the other students were expecting that sort of information. Another thing I learned is that I will be "taught" how to push at the hospital. I didn't think about it before, but these are muscles we never have to actively command, so of course there's going to be a learning curve. I also learned that pushing can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for the average range for first time moms. Two hours sounds EXHAUSTING.
We also learned more about what to pack for the hospital. I still think it's early, but Rob started pestering me to pack my bag a couple of weeks ago. But then he refused to pack his bag. So I packed it for him. And tagged a list describing what is packed already and what needs to be packed at the last minute. I am phenomenally organized, go me!
The only other development this week is that we're further along in talks with the doula. We need to schedule our prenatal meeting, and then next time we'll see her at the hospital.
Butternut is still super active, despite his increasingly cramped quarters. He still makes the full belly earthquakes, which I just can't help watching. That's when I realize that he is huge, and he is going to have to come out. Eeek!
But at the same time, just about everyone and their mothers seems to think I don't look 34 weeks along. Everyone asks me when I am due, and when I tell them, they say, "You look so small!" or "You're carrying it so well!" or some variation. I guess the alternative would be for them to ask me if I am having twins.
Bump measures the same as if I was pregnant with a singleton at 29 weeks - no wonder I feel huge :)
Starting to feel more movements from the babies now which is lovely.
Get very tired though and have carpal tunnel in my right wrist and oedema and SPD. Fun huh? Can't wait to meet them though.

With this weeks theme Architecture the town i work in has a flood of new homes but not so many interesting buildings. This is the new Ability Centre being built in Whitby, Ontario, Canada the interesting part of this is the rounded steel girders along the front of the building!

This is far from being the best picture, but I love it, Skye was totally happy. Does anyone else's dog do this digging on the couch thing when they get excited?
