...following Lisa's lead, we're going to stay with family/friends in Italy for 2-3 weeks, so if I don't thank you for your visit before we split, my apologies and I'll catch up in a bit... (check out Lisa's sets, they're great)
A little on the small side. But there were a lot of people nearby.

I was out with the Deardorff at the beginning of October, and we stopped at the Grist Mill to see how the fall foliage was coming along. It was not. This was a late blooming Autumn. Many of the leaves still had not started to turn as of early November. Still, I had some 8x10 film along, and this is the result. I cropped about 1/4 from the bottom of the picture to emphasize the mill.

That's my first test using Fuji Instax Wide film with the Lomograflok back on my 4X5 view camera. The Woodyman 4X5 springs seem to weak to hold the Lomograflok back correctly so I had to hold the back with my hand while releasing the trigger to avoid light leaks. I guess that I will have to do some DIY to fix that problem. I ruined the first 7 Instax sheets because I was convinced that I was overexposing, while in fact it was just the contrary. This one is still underexposed but better than its predecessors.

This pond high in a canyon of the Eastern Sierra Nevada was created by Beavers when they dammed a creek that drains some high alpine lakes. Aspens love water, so they grow around the pond and along the creek, bringing with them their brilliant gold color, which contrasts nicely with the deep cobalt blue alpine sky and water. The rising water levels caused by the beavers combined with their gnawing activities leaves many older trees dead and lying in the pond, creating these beautiful reflections in the water, framed by the granite peak in the background and its reflection below.
This is another of the large format film images from our fall color trip to the Eastern Sierra, made with my Birch wood and Aluminum Intrepid 4x5 Field Camera.

1905 Korona View - Schneider G-Claron 240mm - f/45 - Fomapan 100 - 5x7 Film - HC 110 1+100 - Unaltered Negative Scan
Scan of a darkroom print on Ilford MGWT RC paper.
This is a composite picture, with two negatives printed simultaneously on the same paper.
The picture of the Moon is on a 9x12cm sheet of film, which is projected on the baseboard of a 4x5" enlarger (at a 4.5 magnification), and onto an 18x24cm sheet of film containing the clouds (which is contact printed).
With the same exposure (and some minimal dodging and burning) the two negatives are combined into one print.
Both negatives are Fuji AD-M xray film.
They were both shot with the same camera, a Kodak Master 8x10" view camera, but on different dates.
The Moon was shot with a Symmar 360mm lens on May 29, 2018.
The clouds were shot with a Fujinon W 180mm lens on June 14, 2018.
Both negatives were developed in Rodinal (RO9) at 1+100 dilution (1lt solution in a 10x12" tray), at 24C, with intermittent agitation.

The clouds for 12'min.

Originally known as Rosebank, but became better known as the Kerosene Castle. The home of Richard Shaw Wood betrays the industrial past of Oakville. Wood established one of the largest coal refineries for the production of Kerosene on the Sixteen Mile Creek and across he built a mansion for himself and his family. Known as Rosebank, Grand Old Lady, or the Keroscene Castle. The Shaw Refinery operated until 1866 when an explosion and fire destroyed the plant. The Creek even caught fire as Kerosene floated ontop of the water. In 1980 it became home to MacLaughlan College.

The 4x5 Stitch/Shift Adapter from Fotodiox allows you to mount your modern full frame digital camera on a large format 4x5 Graflok back film camera and capture beautiful, high resolution stitched images like this! This panorama is made up of six images stitched in Photoshop and captured with a Nikon D800E mounted on a Horseman 4x5 View Camera and a Caltar II-N 240mm MC f/5.6.

During our Eastern Sierra autumn color trip, I woke up early one morning to head up to this chilly ridge line overlooking the Minarets in California's Eastern Sierra in time for sunrise and was treated to this incredible show of light, texture. and color! The view you see here looks out across Devil's Postpile National Monument and into the high Sierra at the Minarets.
This is one of the first large format images from my Intrepid 4x5 view camera and represents a major leap in quality for my work. The image you see here is a tiny web version of a 100-megapixel scan from a 4x5" transparency, and that was only to save space and time! I can scan to around 300 MP myself, or have it drum scanned at a lab to around 500 MP. The aesthetic qualities and beautiful fine grain structure of the film give the images a look and a quality level that really shines in large prints.

This is the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stouchburg, PA, taken in June of 2012, when Gaia and I were back East to visit the relatives. It was good to get out on occasion for some pictures.
Many of the older buildings in this part of pennsylvania were built with that light, gray stone, and sometimes with the limestone for accent as is seen here (at least, I think it's limestone). They really are beautiful, but they are still being torn down when they should be preserved.
