I had some tables at a camera show in Portland Oregon Saturday and not having any tools with me, I found this well used but complete Swiss Army knife at another seller's table and fixed the loose screw on the wooden view camera I had for sale.
I was pleasantly surprised that the knife still has the tweezers, tooth pick and the extra small screwdriver that lives inside the corkscrew.
The camera is a 5x7 Rochester Optical Monitor made between 1894 and 1901.

We were out at Garibaldi on the Oregon Coast in late May, and I had the film cameras out for the ride. The tide was moving in, so the picture I wanted was under a few feet of water by the time I took this, but I did it anyway. I lost track of the film, somehow, in my darkroom. I found it today, and thought it was an empty film holder. After ruining one sheet, I developed them, and this one seems to be fine. The negative is a little thin, but it scans okay.
This film is a grain fest. It does take to zone system adjustments, but it may be too grainy for my tastes. I may not buy it again.
I found out recently that the three sea stacks in the center are called "The Three Graces".

I made this photo in 1979 with a borrowed 4X5 view camera on a tripod. I set up the camera and peered at the image on the ground glass. There wasn't one element of the photo that was square, so decided that the ancient GE fridge would do.

Located at the mouth of the Twelve Mile Creek, the Bronte settlement, founded in 1834 was noted for its fishing and ship building. Although settlement began in 1814 when Philip Sovereign arrived, naming the area "The Twelve" Soon a thriving community grew up around the harbour established in 1846. As ship building activities increased, mills grew up along the Creek. Full village status would not arrive until 1951, and in 1962 was amalgamated into Oakville. The Sovereign House, pictured here, was home to the whole Sovereign family and today is home to the local historical society.

This is a historic church in Sellwood, Oregon down by the Willamette River. Gaia and I were there one evening to take pictures a number of years ago as part of my Night Shift series. I posted a version of this years ago that looks much spookier due to a number of mistakes that I made. This one is less spooky, but it’s still a tad haunting on its own.

I have been testing long development times. I developed this one 1:50 in Rodinal for 25 minutes. I realized half way through that my darkroom was not entirely light tight, so the negative is a little fogged. I need to do a little more work on it before I develop more sheet film.

One of the more difficult parts of establishing a settlement was the planning and surveying. For Oakville that work fell to Merrick Thomas, son-in-law to William Chisholm. The Thomas House, built in 1829 is the oldest surviving home in Oakville.

The last leaves of autumn bring colour to West Burton Falls in the Yorkshire Dales. A personal triumph for me as this shot was taken on my Linhof Technikardan view camera, which I am slowly getting used to using. 7 Seconds at f16, ISO25 on a Schneider 47mm Super Angulon.

This fall I started photographing some of the structures along the Eno. I am sure it will be a part of my 2019. On a side note. Flickr says it will lock me out of uploads on Jan 8th. So we'll see how that goes going forward. Otherwise, Happy New Year...

I was out with the Deardorff at the beginning of October, and we stopped at the Grist Mill to see how the fall foliage was coming along. It was not. This was a late blooming Autumn. Many of the leaves still had not started to turn as of early November. Still, I had some 8x10 film along, and this is the result. I cropped about 1/4 from the bottom of the picture to emphasize the mill.
