After one year of working, going to school, working on my car, hiking and long hours of walking in local parks, my Vans slip on shoes have deteriorated in such a magnificant fashion. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
A number of vehicles have recently been withdrawn by Padbus, resulting in some new additions to the Preservation Partnership collection. Number 16 (OB52 AAL) is a Mercedes Vito service van, converted from the Cararama minibus by filling in the rear windows, and had a sister minibus, 17 (OB52 AAM), delivered at the same time. It was replaced in the Padbus fleet by a new Ford Transit and is now used by the Partnership as a general-purpose support vehicle.
The van has got opening rear doors and a working sliding door. It's a high-roof model van, mainly because I needed a certain height in order to make the doors the way I did.
The humble Sherpa van was used extensively by Britain's publicly owned utilities, services and industries. This example, a work in progress, was owned by the coal board and looks rather attractive in the NCB black and yellow scheme.
This is the Oxford diecast model, first disassembled and stripped to bare metal. A coat of primer / undercoat has been applied from a rattle can. Then, paints from the Precision range have been airbrushed on.
Finally for this session after a coat of glossy varnish the NCB transfers have been applied. The NCB logo was created from a photo of Nutty slack's treasured Nantgarw / Windsor Colliery sign using transfer papers. Thanks once again for enabling this.

This vehicle must have spent a good part of its life where salt was used on the roads in winter. Quite a bit of corrosion and rust is present. The oversized mirrors and shiny bumpers are certainly recent additions! Anyone know what year this is from? I've done an image search and discovered that the Greenbriars came from the early 1960s.
