Ambtenarenhuisjes van de 'Stichting Maatschappij van Weldadigheid' in Frederiksoord.
Geestelijk vader van de 'Maatschappij' is Generaal Johannes van de Bosch, die ná het vertrek van Napoleon zijn plannen voorlegde aan Koning Willem I . Van den Bosch kreeg het groene licht om, middels de Maatschappij, hier in Drenthe de paupers uit de steden in het westen (met name Amsterdam) van werk, onderdak en onderwijs te voorzien. Hen dus weer een toekomst te geven !! Vele eenvoudige vervenershuisjes werden voor de nieuwelingen gebouwd, die vervolgens veelal in de veenontginningen te werk gesteld werden. Bij het huisje had men voldoende land voor het houden van een koe, wat schapen, kleinvee en een moestuin.
Ambtenaren van de Maatschappij kregen de beschikking over een geheel uit steen opgetrokken woning, echter zónder grond voor het houden van dieren.
Beleef het verleden van de koloniën van Weldadigheid bij museum 'De Koloniehof' in Frederiksoord. Zeer de moeite waard !
Tegenwoordig zijn álle huisjes van steen en van alle moderne gemakken voorzien ! Het is een geliefde woonomgeving geworden !
A recent American Pickers show was about a long Metro Van like this that was used by Aerosmith for many years in the early days. This one seems to say Standard Dairy Limited in green letters above the windshield. These vans were made from 1938 to 1975.

Paard van Marken ist ein Leuchtturm auf der niederländischen Insel Marken. Er steht auf einer Landspitze im Markermeer. Da das Gebäude aus der Ferne und mit einiger Fantasie wie ein Pferd wirkt, wird es Paard van Marken (deutsch Pferd von Marken) genannt.
Paard van Marken is a lighthouse on the Dutch island of Marken. It stands on a headland in the Markermeer. As the building looks like a horse from a distance and with a bit of imagination, it is called Paard van Marken (English: Horse of Marken).

Ligging: Kruisem (Kruishoutem), Oost-Vlaanderen.
Het kasteel van Herlegem was een site met een centrale, omwalde hoeve, meerdere boerderijen en een watermolen. De oudste attestatie dateert van 1419: "up muelenacker ligghende op de beke van herlegem".
In 1662 werd het kasteel aangekocht door de familie Van Pottelsberge.
Het huidige kasteel dateert van 1771.
De aanleg van het park met walgracht, toegangsbrug, ereplein en bijgebouwen in U-vorm is van iets latere datum.
In de nacht van 12 op 13 april 1981 brandde het kasteel grotendeels uit.
Het kasteel werd met zorg en toewijding door de familie gerestaureerd.

De neonletters 'Van Nelle' door het raam gefotografeerd. Ik vond het leuk om deze letters - die zodra het donker wordt gaan branden - van dichtbij vast te leggen. Ook dit keer werkte de blauwe lucht met de mooie wolken weer mee om ook hiervan een kleurrijke foto te maken. Druk op de 'L' toets voor de vergroting.
The neon letters 'Van Nelle' photographed through the window. I enjoyed capturing these letters - which light up as soon as it gets dark - up close. Also this time the blue sky cooperated with the beautiful clouds to make a colorful picture of this too.
This represents two childhood toys. The first, tiny toy cars that we collected and played with for endless hours. Then later we got a real on. Actually this same model and color. Both times they transported us to a different world.

Nadat deze gevuld waren gingen ze via één van de luchtbruggen richting de expeditie. Op de foto zijn ook nog een paar grote weegschalen te zien.
