It's not really the Hai Van pass, the pass was a decent bit before this. This stunning view of a lake greeted us after we had completed the pass. I thought it was quite striking the way the hills and lake joined. Also, the clouds looked quite ominous and added to the character of the scene.
The animated exhibit itself is accompanied by famous soundtrack such as Erik Satie's Gymnopédie No. 1, so I encourage you to open a separate tab and listen to it while looking at the images:
I took a vacation day off for a medical appointment, after which I decided to visit the Toronto production of the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit, which is an animated wall-to-wall-to-wall-to-floor projection of Vincent van Gogh's paintings in a large industrial-sized space, accompanied by dramatic soundtracks, music and songs by well-known composers.
Vincent van Gogh is known for:
- his rendition of post-impressionism
- painting sunflowers
- for being Dutch
- his deteriorating mental state including depression
- having cut off one of his ears
- for eventually committing suicide

Seen near Cranleigh in August 1986 is rare DAF SB2300DHS585 / Van Rooijen Odyssee C28Ft C265LGF. Only 10 of these unusual looking coaches came to the UK from Holland in the mid-80s. This particular coach spent short periods with various operators before settling down with Hatts of Foxham in 1989.
C.J.L.van der Meer on his land as a flower grower. Each year he went to England by boat and in 1921 he flew as the only passenger in a small plane to England for doing business. Something quite exceptional in those early days of traveling by air. One of his sons was stationed in Russia to work for the trade of flowers there.and one son in Argentina.
