Ken gave me a GRAND experience for my birthday this year- we went to see Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience! Oh MY! Incredible! I felt like I had stepped into Vincent's world! It engulfs you in this wonderful exhibition of ever changing paintings, from wall to wall and onto the floor! Ken & I would have stayed all night! It was so wonderful!
I knew the changing works were going to be projected on the walls, but I hadn't realized how cool it would be that it went all the way onto the floor, so you did feel "inside" the painting!" Seeing the texture, the colors, each stroke of the brush! WOW! We loved it!
Stay tuned for more, and like Mardi Gras photos, I hope I don't wear it out, but I am enjoying seeing it all again even as I post them! SO grand to share! There are quite a few to show! :)

We're in Wasilla, but the road goes to Palmer. These are two very different towns in the Matanuska Valley.
Just to take one example - Sarah Palin lives in Wasilla and wouldn't like it in Palmer.

Walking on Duval Street in Key West, this Van was parked on the curb. It could be a GMC or a Chevrolet.
Early 1950's Morris Cowley MCV pickup, or as it was known locally Morris Coupe Utility, at Dural Men's Shed car show. Not sure why the badge says van.
Van Phat Pagoda was built in 1959. The name of the pagoda means 10,000 Buddha statues. As the name suggests, the temple has a system of small Buddha statues around the Buddhist Great Hall. Van Phat Pagoda is ranked as a record in Vietnam.
It's not perfect. Got some serious rocker panel rust. The wheels were nice at one time but are now looking a bit sketchy. But it still runs and is on the road.

I took a vacation day off for a medical appointment, after which I decided to visit the Toronto production of the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit, which is an animated wall-to-wall-to-wall-to-floor projection of Vincent van Gogh's paintings in a large industrial-sized space, accompanied by dramatic soundtracks, music and songs by well-known composers.
Vincent van Gogh is known for:
- his rendition of post-impressionism
- painting sunflowers
- for being Dutch
- his deteriorating mental state including depression
- having cut off one of his ears
- for eventually committing suicide

Modern Van, dating totally post-1918, as a town is rather a disappointment generally.
As the main town on the shores of a lake seven times the size of Lake Geneva, it's completely logic to expect something. But you get disappointed by its relatively smallness. It has half the population of Urfa (Şanlıurfa), none of the sophistication and hum of Diyarbakır, none of the beautiful architecture of Mardin, and none of the setting and atmosphere of Bitlis (all places which you will see later on my stream).
The second surprise is that, contrary with your expectations it is not built on the lakeshore but it is set back about 3km from the lake on flat ground with no views of the lake at all. Having reduced your expectations, you can enjoy Van for what it is - a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area (and we will do that!) and a lively modern commercial centre.
