Black Bear at Temple Hill Gap. This was my first bear experience on the Appalachian Trail. I was taking a break at Temple Hill Gap, studying my map, when I heard a sniffing noise. I looked up to see a young black bear, shiny fur, totally unconcerned about my presence.
This was another trail I went hiking on during my weekend in Arizona last week. After hiking through desert we arrived at this pool of water, rocky cliffs and a trickling waterfall that can be a strong waterfall after the rain.
I decided I needed i picture here so I used my friend as a light stand to hold my flash, set up the tripod and this is the result.

The trail into the Clifton Gorge hugs the gorge's northern wall. Filtered sunlight creates subtle highlights along the wall and path. Located in the Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve, Yellow Springs OH.
It was scorching hot, about 110 degrees Fahrenheit, but we enjoyed the impressive views on this trail within the Palo Duro Canyon.
Fue un dÃa abrasador, cerca de 110 grados Fahrenheit, pero disfrutamos mucho de las vistas impresionantes a lo largo de este sendero adentro del Cañón Palo Duro.
I keep taking photos of sunlight on the trails that I walk. There is very little that compares to the beauty of the sun filtered through the forest canopy to light an old log, or wild flower, or just the earth in front of you.
Photo taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro hand held. This photo was processed from raw in Lightroom, with a small crop, and then processed in Alient Skin X4, where I applied a Kodak Film simulation, just to add that visual traaction that film excels at, and which digital seems to completely miss.
A test star trail image taken to test settings. unfortunatly due to light polution I couldnt get a decent foreground focal point with washing the image out completely

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources dedicated a half-mile trail loop at North Point State Park in honor of a former public servant and avid bicyclist, Steven L. Kreseski.
A native and resident of Baltimore City, Kreseski served three years as chief of staff for former Governor Robert Ehrlich Jr. and was his legislative director on Capitol Hill from 1995 to 2003. Kreseski passed away in 2015 at the age of 58 from pulmonary fibrosis, a hereditary lung disease.
Sunrise from Palmetto Trail, Windmill Hill, where I live.
I got up before sunrise twice last week to see what I could do. Appriciate critiques.
Star trails taken at Mono Lake, CA. We light the Tufas (rock outcroppings) using a strong flashlight. Shot was taken over 100 minutes, processed about 200 images taken at 25 sec each with 5 sec interval in between.
This is NOT an official "trail," and that by hiking here, you do so at your own risk. I did the hike with Jeremy a knowledgeable guide at Kauai Hiking Adventures. Kalepa Ridge hike will take you along the ridge line between Honopu and Kalalau Valley's, offering some of the most incredible views into Kalalau Valley. The panoramic views into Kalalau Valley as you hike out onto the ridge stretching towards Na Pali are simply incredible. The day we did the hike the weather was clear. We began the trail at 10:30 am and finished at 1:30 pm after a lunch at the point with local fruits and many photo stops along the way.
The GPS showed a total round trip of 2.1 miles with an elevation change of 650 feet. This completes all the ocean side trails in Kokee State Park. Of all the ocean side trails, this one is the best.
