"Mighty weather-beaten promontories, spectacular views, two idyllic stream valleys, a boundary path, the ruin "Römerburg", an eerie Celtic sanctuary, two refreshing Kneipp treatment facilities, an unusual bare-foot trail and vitamin-packed, organically-grown fruit, as far as the eye can see, all this complemented by a panorama good enough for any stage.

The "Felsenweg" was pronounced "Hiking Trail of the Year" in Germany in 2005. It runs parallel to the "Saar-Hunsrück-Steig" fot a total of 7 km.
The trail is 13,5 km long and runs through hilly terrain with several challenging ascents (highest point 560 m, lowest point 352 m) and a therefore to be categorised as moderately difficult. Pure walking time totals roughly 4 hours."
A beautiful, varied and eventful trail!!!

On our jopurney from Washington to Staunton we drove along the Skyline Drive - but time constraints meant that we had no time to stop for exploration. The next day we went back and drove up the southern section of the Skyline, stopping for a short walk to Blackrock Summit. Thus we managed to walk a very short section of the Appalachian Trail.
