A walk down the road and trails at the McKenzie Trails park north of the Kerry Wood Centre in Red Deer Alberta.
The first full size images I've uploaded I was told I take good trail pics so here's a lot for you to choose from.
A huge doug fir, encroaching on the Wahkeena Trail as it switchbacks up the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge
These 8 pictures were taken at the only tailing arbutus I know of. Each year I worry that there will be none left. THey are in the mossy edge that is dropping down above the trail. This year there were only 4 or 5 tiny "islands" of plants. In addition to this being a very pretty flower (when it has not weathered), it has a very pretty fragrance. Unfortunately to sniff it you have to wrap your nostril around one of the blossoms, and this year the ground was too fragile to do that.
The Little Calumet River Trail is getting a bridge over Calumet Avenue, which will eliminate a major bottleneck for those riding to/from the Monon and Erie Lackawanna Trails.
This bridge will be parallel to the Bishop Ford and is now the second such structure that will eliminate user interaction with Calumet Avenue. In 2019, the bridge at 150th street (IIRC) was completed along the Erie Lackawanna Trail as well. Mayor Thomas "BIG MAC" McDermott himself presided over the maiden voyage!
...he wasn't the first to ride over it, however...barricades be damned!

I really don't want anyone to suppose we hiked that entire trail. We just wanted a place for a short wilderness walk....

Saturday morning: We joined our friends for a beautiful hike along one of Sedona's newest trails, the Hiline. This trail gave great views of Sedona and Cathedral Rock.
For our annual spring fling, we chose Sedona, Arizona. We spent 7 days hiking trails around Sedona and a day hiking the Grand Canyon's South Rim. The highlight of our trip was spending 4 days on the trails with Larry and Shermane who we met last year at The Citadel Ruin on Cedar Mesa. They graciously opened their home to us and showed us Sedona area sites that the average tourist would never know about.

The Tamiami Trail (pronounced "tammy-amee" so it rhymes) is the southernmost 275 miles (443 km) of U.S. Highway 41 from State Road 60 in Tampa to U.S. Route 1 (SR 5) in Miami, Florida.
The 165 mile (266 km) north-south section (hidden SR 45) extends to Naples, whereupon it becomes an east-west road (hidden SR 90) crossing the Everglades (and forming part of the northern border of Everglades National Park) before becoming Southwest Eighth Street in Miami-Dade County (“Calle Ocho” in the Little Havana section of Miami).
So today we drove over to Canaan Valley, WV to go horseback riding. This was to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The event was a little belated as the original riding date got rained out back in Oct and we just got it rescheduled:) We all had a blast. I highly recommend Mountain Trail Rides. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. This was the first trail ride for most of our family and we all felt very safe (after the first few jitters). If you're ever in that part of WV, look them up and take a ride. Definitely well worth it!
After the trail ride, we got lunch and then took a brief stop at Blackwater Falls state park. The youngest hadn't seen the falls. All in all, a fantastic day!
One more quick note. Trying to shoot with an SLR while riding a horse with one hand always on the reins is a little difficult. If you bring a camera, I'd recommend a lightweight P&S digital camera. Just keep it on a lanyard and not in your pocket as one of the other riders had her camera fly out of her pocket while we were cantering:)
