april 22 - earth day! today i am adding this, from my most recent hike, to the earth day & environment pools with a dedication: protecting magical astonishing places and habitats is something we both succeed and fail at. we are getting better in some ways with protecting the land as a whole, and the whole seas and planetary atmosphere, while we are losing ground in other ways, as our population grows like crazy. this is no time to give up on our planet or ourselves. so here's to loving this earth and making whatever difference you can whenever you can,
Thursday morning we awoke to 16 degrees and clearing skies. After a phenomenal breakfast at El Tovar, we hiked sections of the Grandview and Rim trails before heading back to Sedona.
For our annual spring fling, we chose Sedona, Arizona. We spent 7 days hiking trails around Sedona and a day hiking the Grand Canyon's South Rim. The highlight of our trip was spending 4 days on the trails with Larry and Shermane who we met last year at The Citadel Ruin on Cedar Mesa. They graciously opened their home to us and showed us Sedona area sites that the average tourist would never know about.
Sword Fern Trail runs close to houses and apartment buildings so the trail closure is a necessary precaution. So far as I am aware this is the only closure in this part of Pacific Spirit Park

I've been reading a book lately so I haven't been posting much on the internet. I would have stayed locked away in my home forever but a group of friends made me go hiking with them on Saturday morning. The ultimate goal was Tadake falls, but the trail is up a small river. Lots of fun, even if it was a little cloudy out.
