Day 10/ Moab - Bryce Canyon : « Losee Canyon »
Quest of the day : Bryce Canyon National Park. Located on the other side of the Colorado Plateau, a long (5-6 hours) transfer in the vehicle will be required on Interstate 70, the highway that traverses the country from Washington DC to Utah, passing through the high passes of the Rocky Mountains. Local “Western” radio will provide us with “on the road” ambiance as we speed through the desert landscape. Turning onto scenic Highway 89, leads us through the immense Dixie National Forest.
The heart of Bryce Canyon, known as the Amphitheater, is prohibited to mountain bikes. However, Red Canyon, just outside the borders of the park, allows us to enjoy riding through the same type of landscape. We leave from camp for Losee Canyon: a labyrinth of fairy chimneys, known as Hoodoos by the Natives, and super fun trails. Some of the trails will remind us of the trails used for escape by the famous Butch Cassiday and his gang of outlaws.

I believe this is a gopher snake. This very long snake was mostly hidden under a rock ledge that I was stepping over. I caught a narrow glimpse of what I thought was a diamond marked snake so I jumped back. But as this beautiful fella came into full view and I could see his tail, I realized that he wasn't a rattlesnake and really just wanted to go his own way. I estimated him to be about my height- 5'6".

A walk down the road and trails at the McKenzie Trails park north of the Kerry Wood Centre in Red Deer Alberta.
The first full size images I've uploaded I was told I take good trail pics so here's a lot for you to choose from.
Okay, this was staged, and even then I messed it up. This was supposed to be the highest hand you can get in cribbage which is a "29". However I SHOULD have had the jack in the hand and the five of the same suit in the hole to truly make this the highest value hand. Of course, I can pretend that I was dealer and just got "His Heels" for 2 points which, when totaled with the value of the 28 points in this hand, would have given me 30 points... So there... :->
