walking through urmston meadows i stumbled across these old tracks. odd because they literally run the length of this photo! i have played with the contrast a lot as it was a pretty dull photo to begin with (again because of the rubbish mancunian skies) and as a result, i really like it!
Series of shots taken of the tracks at Helensville, last weekend. Experimenting with my new 50mm f1.8.

This odd railcar is the DOTX219, which computes track geometry parameters at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, according to atip.fra.dot.gov/public/about/DOTX_219.pdf. Ye gads. We spotted it yesterday above Interstate 20 east of Birmingham, AL. It wasn't being pulled at 125 mph, but it was moving right along.

Seen from the Bishopstoke Road bridge in Eastleigh, adjacent to the Network Rail sidings, with the Southampton mainline to the far left. I assume these are for some type of signal training. There is a real mixture here: electric and semaphore (tall and short) signals, a ground frame, a miniature crossing barrier and points gear. Any info about this installation would be interesting.

Debris clogged the sewers under the tracks on Main Street. Public Works workers are here trying to clear it out. This bridge being closed made for one hell of a detour to get to the north side of the tracks from the south side of the tracks.
