Up gain early this morning to try and capture the sunrise with the seattle Skyline but alas I don't think it is the right time of the year. I think I'll try the sunset instead and perhaps wait until the sun rises behind the skyline instead of further South.

On the way home I was headed south and stumbled upon these tracks. My early morning wasn't for nothing :)

Not great focus, but I like it anyway.

Fantastic weather and a nice lazy day with nothing in particular to do. Went out for a nice drive to get some photos and just went where the roads took me. Found a nice little spot by some train tracks as the sun was going down.

Old tracks in front of the main entrance, today the area is a memorial site.

KZ stands for Konzentrationslager, which means concentration camp.

This was the first hike we did entering the park. We at the first foot bridge that crossed a flowing stream; it had a nice colour gradient with the fall foliage. The falling leaves were a nice touch, but was hard to catch.

I chose the longer trail after talking to the park ranger based on where he thought the crowds would be; he said to stay away from the *Lookout trails beause they'll be busy in the afternoon. And said the Track & Tower is his go-to nice trail; he was right. It's a nice trail with a mix of terrain and views.

Day 175 of 365: "Train Tracks!!"

I tend to avoid shooting train tracks. They've become a very cliche' subject matter. People love them as the leading lines create a sharp perspective towards the horizon. They look rustic and gritty and pretty cool. Seniors love love.

And everybody shoots them. That's usually why I don't.

But tonight I saw these tracks going over the Fox River, just beyond the dam by the paper mill. Something about that part of town felt so utilitarian to me I had to shoot it, especially with the Veterans Memorial bridge in the background. I shot this in Kaukauna, a small town where I'm from. Lately, I've been finding so many nuggets of awesomeness in a few small locations, I had to take a few quick shots in some wonderful late afternoon light.

In the end, the black and white treatment for this was an afterthought. Once again, it was almost tormenting picking between color vs. black and white. But I quickly fell in love with this and tried to give it an Ansel Adams feel to it. I'm pretty happy with it!

And train tracks! I mean, really!! :)
