@Dailyshoot #ds418 Use strong converging lines.
Product of a lunchtime walk today. Nice weather and a great path.
These tracks are the home of the longest train in the world, the iron ore train between Sischen and Saldanha averaging a length of 4km but according to the Guinness Book of Records can reach 7.5 km long. This is a crossing over the Berg River near Velddrif.
I was near the start finish line, and the fire was right before turn 3...using 300 mm and a crop you can see a bit of what was going on. I took 35 photos...just picked a couple.
Omas track hubs, NOS but unlaced and never used. The front is 100mm - 180gr and 28 holes, the rear is 120mm - 273gr and 32 holes. Threads are 35 x 24 f. They have sealed ball bearings.
Art. n° 1100/A front & 1100/P rear
Also made in 24-28-32-36 holes and on request made with 34,7 x 1 or 1,370 x 24 Tpi BSC threads.
Stopped alongside the track looking for today's photograph. The lens is at its widest, but the depth of field is still very narrow. The front of the nearest sleeper is in focus, but the nail at the back is not. The camera is held just above the ground.

A 360 view of the bushland along the Mount Direction track.
You'll have to imagine the light rustle of leaves and smell of warm eucalyptus.

I was surprised by the fact that the Holiday Train didn't coast between locations. It was moving.....at track speed. Caught me offguard as the train rushed to get to Trenton by the Air Force Base.

A custom Lego model of the lead car from the train on Hyperia, the UK's tallest roller coaster that opened in 2024 at Thorpe Park.
The model is heavily based on the designs available on Etsy by 'brickdekikker' and 'coastersbricks':
