I spotted these three up by the far end of the lake, all looking quizzically toward me and just asking to have their pictures taken. What could be springier than lambs frolicking in the greenery? It only took a second or two to get the camera ready....
I got a great heads up on the Nickel Plate Road heritage unit that was leading an empty oil train originating at St. James, LA (came off the UP and got on the BNSF at Walsh Junction near Toland). As soon as I got into Litchfield it was approaching "Winston" where the NS and BNSF cross. Wow, could you say perfect timing? BNSF U MIJELU0 15T heads timetable east (west) on the Beardstown Sub towards Eland, ND.

This story did get some things right about the future, though the timing (1975) was a bit off. Electric cars? Check. With autopilot? Still waiting. 3-D TV? Check. Cabnips and potorads? Uh, well we do have genetically engineered foods. Cooked electronically? Yep. we just don't put the microwave on the table. A human parts bank? It's coming. All car engines have a timing chain, belt or gears. If they get out of time it can cause a bent valve and you are talking major bucks for a valve job, thus the title. My hubby Mike is a hot rodder, always has been and always will be and sometimes I find stuff in the yard that I think makes for a neat photo. In this case the engine was hanging from a hoist and I liked the sun on the rust. Then he told me it was the brand new out of the crate motor I bought for my beloved 1966 Pontiac back in 1984, put 100 miles on it and it blew. It was bad from the factory and Chevrolet refused to warranty it since we put it in a Pontiac and we couldn't afford to rebuild it. I did not even know we still had this, made me sad all over again after all these years. The car was my all time favorite, moved to Texas driving that car with Birdman on the seat beside me all the way from Florida.
Day 155 (v 6.0) - always wanted to use this little garage but never had the right camera/lens. didn't do anything kooky so as not to alarm the home owners.
Timing the beam length measurement and tacho speed against the clock. Although the measuring roller circumference is known and has been programmed into the metres prescaler, it is always worth checking its accuracy in real time as a double-check against any maths mistake. The handle on the left is a quick-release lock for the beam (reel). I'm holding it shut as it's loose and was trying to unlock itself. The steel frame which I have my left arm through is a safety bar, which will quick-stop the motor if pushed down or up against a spring. You can tell the age of the photo by my old Nokia cellphone!

This is a photograph from the 3rd annual Fore Village 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in the village of Fore, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on June 25th 2014 at 20:00. Despite the very damp conditions almost 150 participants took part in the event. The course brought runners on a challenging but fair 5KM route starting in the village and going anti-clockwise towards the Castlepollard Oldcastle Road. This busy road section, the R195 was very well stewarded, and gave runners both up and downhill sections. The final 1KM was mainly downhill as the race finished at the car-park outside the beautiful and historic Fore Abbey. Fore Village is situated in a beautiful part of Westmeath and lies in a valley between several hills.
Race Director Ray Farrelly and Ballycomoyle GAA club must be congratulated on a very well organised event with every detail taken care of.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. The spring / hydraulic adjuster is about half way in travel so should be OK. The question is will it do it again?
