This is a photograph from the start second annual running of the Renault Mullingar Half Marathon which was held on Friday 17th March 2017 St. Patrick's Day Lá Fhéile Pádraig 2017 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland at 10:30. Following on from the incredible success of the first two years of the race this year the total numbers participating rose from just under 600 in 2015, 900 in 2016 to over 1200 in this year 2017. As was the case last year the nominated charity was Childline. The roots of the successs of the event last year was the perfect running weather, excellent organisation and a very flat and fast route. All of these characteristics were repeated this year.
Last year's weather was not repeated. Indeed the race could be described as a race of two halves in terms of weather. The first half participants had the strong, fresh westerly wind on their backs. However, turning for home along the Royal Canal this became a very strong headwind for 3 - 4 miles. Participants travelled from all over Ireland with a very large participation from runners around Mullingar and the midlands. The race has an AAI permit. The race's early start time was to facilitate the annual St. Patrick's Day parade which brings a large number of local visitors to the town on an annual basis. Parking is free in Mullingar town for the entire day. A small change to the course configuration seen the race cross the M4 Motorway at The Downs via a winding pedestrian footbridge.
The race began on Pearse Street/Austin Friar's Street in the town and proceeds North East out of the town to the N52 Delvin/Dundalk road towards Lough Sheever. The course then follows beautiful rural country roads out to The Downs at the M4. The only significant hill or rise on the course occurs here at about 7 miles when runners cross a pedestrian footbridge over the M4 near Junction 14 Thomas Flynn and Sons The Downs. The race then joins the now local access route of the old N4 road and then joins the Royal Canal at Great Down. The remainder of the race follows the Royal Canal back westward to Mullingar town. The towpath on the Canal is perfectly flat and in excellent condition. Runners will notice how the level of the canal changes dramatically along the route - at points the canal is level with the towpath. In other places the canal is at least 3 meters lower than the canal path. However the path is perfectly flat and firm the whole way. The course then leaves the Royal Canal at the Ardmore Road/Millmount area of the town and finishes in the Mullingar Town Park on Austin Friar's Street beside the Annebrook Hotel which is the Race Headquarters. The park provides a very nice setting for the finish of the race and runners and their families can mix and congregate around the finish area and the hotel.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

The event took place on a 5KM loop of Donadea Forest Park (read more below). The recent stormy and very wet conditions in Ireland made way for perfect running weather for the race. There was a slight breeze here and there on the route but for the most part the route was very sheltered. With so much running traffic on the course certain parts of the course became more muddy as time went on. However, this bother the participants who were expecting conditions to be much more difficult.
Congratulations to Anthony Lee of Donadea Running Club and Donadea Running Club for putting countless hours of voluntary effort into the staging of this event. The event has all the hallmarks of a professional event. There was a superb atmosphere around the loop as locals and other runners supported the runners.
Donadea Forest Park is situated in rural north Kildare and is approximately 640 acres in size. The amenities at the forest include good walking trails, a diversity of natural habitats, a walled stream, a large natural lake, and the ruins of Donadea castle. The Park is a designated National Heritage Area. The basic designation for wildlife is the Natural Heritage Area (NHA). This is an area considered important for the habitats present or which holds species of plants and animals whose habitat needs protection. It is a special event to allow the 50KM to be held in this environment.

This is a photograph from the 5th annual running of the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 3rd February 2019 at 12:00. The race attracted almost 1,500 finishers which demonstrates again the popularity of this race as entry was capped at 1,500. Indeed the event shows growth year on year mirroring the growing popularity of the race. The race started on the Trim/Athboy road on the town's ring road and proceeds to take an anti-clockwise loop out towards the village of Dunderry and townland of Kilbride before returning back to the Trim Industrial Estate for the finish. The route is held on quiet country roads with some hills at 3, 6, 8 mile segments. The road is well marked and marshaled and is comfortable able to accommodate the race at its current size.
The weather for this year's race good for racing but bitterly cold. There was a hard frost overnight but this brought clear bright skies and crisp air. There was a significant breezy headwind from around the half way mark until the the finish.
This photographs is part of a large Flickr photoset of photographs of photographs from the 1 mile mark and also from the 200meters to go mark. The full Flickr photoset is available at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157706458418584
Waterstops were provided at the 4.5 and 7 mile marks on the course. All access roads were well stewarded. Indeed the majority of the race was run on closed roads. The event was sponsored by Nally's SuperValu, who are based in the heart of Trim, and many other local business establishments. Credit must go to the Trim AC team for their flawless organisation. If the first three years of this year are anything to go on then this race will continue to grow in popularity. Runners from clubs and groups in almost every county in Ireland were represented today. For runners around the North Leinster and Midlands area this 10 mile race serves as a perfect training progress stepping stone to the Bohermeen Half Marathon which will take place in March 2019 and is located only 15 minutes drive from Trim. Today's race also served as the Meath AAI 10 Mile Road Race Championships.
The 10 Mile Road Race is becoming somewhat an endangered species of the Irish road racing calendar. The popularity of shorter races and in some cases the half marathon sees less 10 mile races being organised. There is also the considerable road management associated with the 10 mile distance. However, today's race in Trim shows that there is still huge appeal in these races. As the Ballycotton 10 Mile slogan used to be "A classic race ... at a classic distance". The Trim 10 Mile is slowing becoming the Ballycotton of North Leinster with the club's offering of this classic distance.
Timing and overall event management was provided by the Co. Kildare based company Popup Races. The results and more details about the race will be found on their website at www.popupraces.ie
It’s “All in the Timing” for CCBC Catonsville Academic Theatre March 14-18 in the Center for the Arts
Playwright David Ives’ collection of short, comic plays allows ensemble cast to take on many roles
Take eight one-act plays add 13 versatile student actors and you have the recipe for a great evening of fun and laughter when CCBC Catonsville Academic Theatre performs playwright David Ives’ collection of short, comic plays produced as “All in the Timing.” The plays will be presented 8 p.m. March 14 and 15, 3 p.m. March 16, 10 a.m. March 17 and 1 p.m. March 18 in the Center for the Arts at CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road. Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for seniors, students, faculty, staff and alumni. For tickets and information, call the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787).
Since the incredible success of the first performance this collection, playwright David Ives has written additional short plays, which are regularly produced under the title “All in the Timing.” This production features the six original short plays, plus two more recent additions:
•SURE THING is a classic of contemporary comedy: Two people meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love.
•WORDS, WORDS, WORDS recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce HAMLET and asks: What would monkeys talk about at their typewriters?
•THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE brings together Dawn, a young woman with a stutter, and Don, the creator and teacher of Unamunda, a wild comic language. Their lesson sends them off into a dazzling display of hysterical verbal pyrotechnics—and, of course, true love.
•PHILIP GLASS BUYS A LOAF OF BREAD is a parodic musical vignette in trademark Glassian style, with the celebrated composer having a moment of existential crisis in a bakery.
•THE PHILADELPHIA presents a young man in a restaurant who has fallen into "a Philadelphia," a Twilight Zone-like state in which he cannot get anything he asks for.
•VARIATIONS ON THE DEATH OF TROTSKY shows us the Russian revolutionary on the day of his demise, desperately trying to cope with the mountain-climber's axe he's discovered in his head.
•SPEED-THE-PLAY is a crash-course send-up of David Mamet, presenting the complete works of the master of scatological dialogue in just under seven male-bonding minutes.
•ENGLISH MADE SIMPLE starts when a young man and woman meet at a party, and their immediate romantic attraction is translated into comically unromantic grammar lessons as they struggle to free themselves from the banal constrictions of party talk.
The ensemble cast (in alphabetical order) includes: Sade Ali of Pikesville, Md., Robert Gaskins of Gwynn Oak, Md., Charles Gearhart of Baltimore, Md., Aaron Hancock of Baltimore, Md., Aris Hines of Reisterstown, Md., Timothy Johnson of Towson, Md., Lavonne Jones of Baltimore, Md., Paris Brown of Windsor Mill, Md., Yakov Langer of Owings Mills, Md., Devin McKay of Baltimore, Md., Ashley Saville of Edgewood, Md., Randi Seepersad of Randallstown, Md. and Naomi Steven of Catonsville, Md. The cast plays multiple roles in multiple plays. The production is directed by guest director Jessica Garrett of Single Carrot Theatre with set and lighting design by G. Maurice “Moe” Conn and costumes by James J. Fasching.
The Center for the Arts at CCBC Catonsville is an accessible facility. Please request special accommodation when purchasing tickets from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787).
Located on the foot of Syed Basha hillock, this facility was inaugurated on 26 - 02 - 2008 by then chief minister Karunanidhi

This is a photograph from the 45th running of the Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race and Fun Run in Dunboyne Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 30th of March at 15:00. The event is sponsored by EirGrid. The "Dunboyne 4" lays rightful claim to being one of Ireland's longest and best established road races. It is now a landmark event in the Irish road racing calendar. Henry James once said "It takes an endless amount of history to make even a little tradition". Well the tradition of the 4 Mile Road Race is very safe as witness again today with over 1,000 participants taking part. Today's event yet again showed that it is one of heartbeats of Irish road racing.
We have an extensive set of photographs on our Flickr Photostream: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157643169446555/

The "Dunboyne 4" offers a racing opportunity for everyone from elite international runners, to club runners, to joggers, first-time runners, and walkers. The atmosphere as the race returns to the village at the 2.5 mile mark is one of the best atmosphere's in local Irish athletics as it seems the whole village and associated supporters have come out to encourage the participants.
This is a brilliantly organised race with every detail taken care of to the highest standard. This is to the credit of all of the volunteers from Dunboyne AC, Meath Athletics, and the local community of Dunboyne and surrounding areas. It is a race by which others can measure themselves.
Dunboyne AC also shows it's committment to growing the next generation of athletes and runners in Ireland by hosting a set of Juvenile Races before the senior event. Based on the final mile of the course there are runs for Ages 9, 12, and 15 year old boys and girls.
The race starts at Dunboyne Business Park on the Navan Road (Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/RaS62) and proceeds south into the Village and straight ahead onto the Maynooth Road. The race passed Dunboyne Castle Hotel to the left. The one mile mark is reached at the roundabout where the race turns right and heads across the Village by-pass and towards the Dunboyne Summerhill Road. The two mile mark is just at the next roundabout where the race turns right towards the village again. One of the best parts of the race is the atmosphere as the race passes through the village with the crowds adding to the spectacle. The race must now complete one mile where the runners go along Station road, turn left at Mill Farm Road (near Race HQ) and join back to the race start with a downhill finished into the village (Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/GfK0T).

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?
Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us.
This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.
I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

While en route to Kent, OH, to watch NIU notch up another victory, a brief stop in Berea (just outside Cleveland) yielded this Wheeling & Lake Erie train crossing over from the CSX to the NS, delivering a train load of scrap metal. I was told by locals that this train only comes up a couple times a week, so I guess it was good timing!
The timing is now
Despite all of the logistical and rational deductions
And all key pointers indicate a self-inflicted loss
The symbolic conditions are now in your favor
The optimum want has arrived
So lock down and focus on your target's collective mind
Step one patriot: Engage your synthetic substitute
Step two family: Drive past the initial horrors through sense and memories of belonging
Step three self: look after yourself self as the primeval one - do whatever it takes
Inflict psychological defeat
Enforce morale collapse
Make it look like there is no sensible alternative
Make sure you look smart, alert and resourceful
It is not your role to speak the truth
Your role is to evoke controversy
Ply until your enemy becomes feeble-minded
Corrupt the traditional platform
Until there is no idea
Until the best is last
Until what is now seen is lost
Until all is enlightenment is a conspiracy
Make achievement less than credible
The future is quartered by dilemma
Employ immediate fear
Underscore with meaningless numbers
School the populous towards mass neurosis
Continuously strike until the collective vision is the known failure
They are too weak to endure the psychological effects of subversion
Then when broken, make sure all forms of repatriation is piecemeal
Keep them divisive

Life is all about timing... the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable... attainable. Have the patience, wait it out It's all about timing.

Ariel and Vidalia both entered the range of Magnus' leash just now, and their timing could not have been better. Magnus was alert but not hyper. Interested but not overzealous. Vidalia positioned herself closest. Magnus, lying down, saw her and stood up, his tail up in the air wagging. He took steps toward her in a deliberate fashion. No running involved. Vidalia stood her ground. They stood nose to nose with Vidalia intermittently hissing her superiority without giving an inch. Magnus' tail just kept wagging. No aggression at all. Then Ariel caught his eye. Well, really, his ear. Ariel was hissing just steps from Vidalia. Magnus cautiously approached Ariel, and she hissed in his face. Neither Vidalia nor Ariel ran, so Magnus just wagged his tail then returned to his place on the carpet. That, my friends, is what I consider a successful interaction. BTW, Curiosity thinks nothing of walking through the range of Magnus' leash. As long as he's not running, Magnus literally ignores him. But any fast movement, and Curio faces puppy exuberance. I have taken to, as funny as this may sound, hissing my own disapproval whenever Magnus oversteps boundaries with the cats (or me, actually). Magnus stops immediately, gets the funniest expression on his face, and stares at me almost audibly pondering the odd noise. He knows it is disapproval, and Magnus does not like disapproval. Well, I guess it's appropriate that Magnus learn right and wrong in cat language as long as he lives in this house. . .
Way to go, Vidalia! Way to go, Ariel!

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
