We often reiterate on the importance of timing. This image was about that. I recently made a long road trip to tulip farms 3 states across. And we were late by a whisker. While a few farms were completely topped in Skagit Valley, some like this patch in Woodburn was plucked/topped here and there leaving a pleasing view of the partially topped rows of Tulips.
I found the fallen rows of petals in between kind of melancholic.
PS: Does it appear as if the colors are bleeding?
Whilst I could get very close for this using 18mm to get impact of the horse coming over the jump - get the timing right was almost impossible. So the horses exiting on the right give context, but stop it being a good shot. Not quite sure how do correct this, but may try full frame with a 14mm lens next time.

Such is the timing of this train there is the opportunity to have several bites of it. On a very slack schedule especially on a Sunday this train meanders its slow way from Barnetby, across Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire on its way to Toton in North Nottinghamshire. Having had an hours wait around Doncaster, it has another nearly two hours at Thrybergh, The crew will be happy the 5 hour wait at Chesterfield scheduled last week has been removed from the timetable.
Whilst on its 2 hour wait at Thrybergh junction the back end of the train is visible from the main road bridge through KIlnhurst. With a swan drifting down the canal and 66597 just visible in the distance the back end of the train can be seen at the location of the old Kilnhurst station. The old ramp / steps down to the platform end close to the base of the signal post.

In the mid-1930s, like many other railway companies, the LNER introduced the concept of streamlined locomotives and train sets to form prestige services that appealed to the travelling public in terms of speed and comfort as well as showing the railways as 'modern' and 'up to date'. The Silver Jubilee, using the new A4 steam locomotives and new train sets, first ran between London Kings Cross and Newcastle on 30 September 1935 and set a new standard for speed at that time.
The quality of the advertising and publicity was, to reflect the intended market, very high although it is fair to say that in many ways the LNER's general approach to marketing was equally as high. The booklet was printed at the Baynard Press in London and features the use of blue and silver metallic inks, matching the train's livery. The artwork is by one of the LNER's regular poster artists, Frank Parkinson Newbould (1887 - 1951) and the booklet makes extensive use of the recently adopted 'standard' Gill Sans typeface. This is the version of the booklet issued for the second year of operation in 1936 with slight amendments to certain timings and connections.
As I was walking to the butcher after work tonight the sun belting down on this red brick wall caught my eye.
I was originally planning on using the shot below for my 365 pic today and then this girl just happened to walk buy in her red cardi and red shoes (which are unfortunately shaded here) . . . given her attire she was clearly not bothered at all, like I was by the 37Ëšc temperature today! I'd say she had just come from an air-conditioned office or car!

For this photo I really wanted to capture the idea of time as my greatest asset. This photo was mainly centered around the discovery that I had a giant glass hourglass. I think the photo captured the interesting idea of the evolution of time-telling and time itself.
I think the combination of the three devices are all centered around the fact that they are all ways to tell time. All of the devices are different, especially the hourglass, but they are all similar in the fact that they can be used to tell time.

This young Heron patrolled the shallows just off the tour road. It made repeated passes and offered many photo ops. The ideal time to visit this site is low tide... that timing really increases the probability of getting good photos.

twice each year, i try and catch the sun setting in the arch of st. louis. sometimes it's cloudy, sometimes i forget. until a few days ago, i've never been in the right place at the right time.
only one other time i came close, but i missed it by a day and i shot it from my back yard so i didn't get the full skyline in the picture (almost got it)
this was taken from the top of monk's mound near my home. i had about five minutes to run to the top of this 100 foot mound to set up and get the shot. i'm soooo glad i made it.
