this bald eagle swoops across the Mississippi River near Redwing, Minnesota to snatch-up some lunch on a cold winter day.

The BMW 507 is one of the most beautiful and coveted BMW models.

The car is rare, a mere 252 built - increasing its desirability today, but the cause of financial losses during its 1956 - 1959 production run, that brought BMW to the brink of bankruptcy.

The plan was sound - build a 2-door roadster using the mechanicals of a standard BMW 503 saloon. Export the model to the US (and follow the success of the similar Mercedes-Benz 300 SL), reap the rewards, and capitalise on the goodwill, to build a market State-side.

Unfortunately, the projected price increased significantly during development, causing the US price to rise to a level which constrained sales. Originally, BMW planned to sell 5,000 units per year. The timing was partly to blame - US makers were in a phase of significant power increases, with the fitment of ever larger V8 engines. The 507 had a V8, but only a mere 3.2 litres and 150 bhp. The Mercedes had arrived to the market a couple of years earlier, an was much more powerful in the (later) 300 SL Roadster model.

The losses were so significant that BMW was brought to the brink of bankruptcy, and would take a decade to recover from.

Today, the 507 is highly regarded for its stylistic beauty - the styling was reworked in 1999 for the BMW Z8 luxury sports roadster model, again, a model focused on the US market, were, again the price limited sales.

While framing this view of Loch Brandy, I just missed the Kelpie which had briefly surfaced in the little pool in the foreground. Would love to get a picture of a mythical beast one day!

As I moved east to get another photo of 66X eastbound on the CF&E's ex PRR Line, NS 233 blasted past westbound on the parallel NS Chicago District (Ex Nickel Plate). Both trains are moving so it was just luck on my part that they came together like this.

We often reiterate on the importance of timing. This image was about that. I recently made a long road trip to tulip farms 3 states across. And we were late by a whisker. While a few farms were completely topped in Skagit Valley, some like this patch in Woodburn was plucked/topped here and there leaving a pleasing view of the partially topped rows of Tulips.

I found the fallen rows of petals in between kind of melancholic.

Unless you have a fantastic lens, great timing, and a tripod, capturing a good shot of an osprey isn't an easy thing, but I feel a complete sense of exhilaration when I encounter wildlife like this when I'm out and about doing an impromptu, spur of the moment shoot.

I dropped my brother off at the library in Port Orange the other day. It is in a complex which includes a park with a good size lake, and it is nesting season for many of the birds of prey, and they have been swooping down and actually attacking people to drive them off! When I heard that, I couldn't resist getting out of my car and seeing what I could capture!

On the far end of the lake, this bird was going back and forth, perching on top of the tallest tree to observe the fish in the water, and swooping down for a catch, hitting the water with a force that you'd think would break its neck, but coming up unscathed every time, but unfortunately, without a meal that I could see. It kept a wary eye on me, as for some reason it seems these birds, with their keen eyesight, consider the lens of a camera to be a giant eye and feel threatened by it! It didn't swoop down at me, but did circle a few times, and I could tell it wasn't too happy with me being there! It flew off after a few minutes, probably to see what the next nearby body of water offered without a giant eyeball staring at it!

While this isn't the greatest quality, it's one of the best osprey shots I've managed to get. They are usually well out of the range of my cameras. I was pleased when the bird decided to spread its wings for take off just as I took the shot.

Okay, as far as the swooping hawks in the area, I didn't see any, which was probably a good thing for me, since they are the ones that have been attacking. This morning, on the way to work, I was stopped at a traffic light when a hawk swooped down and landed on the top of a truck in the next lane over in front of me. It had a squirrel in its talons! I tried to grab my camera to get the shot, but when I pointed it at the hawk, it dropped the squirrel and flew away! I felt really bad that I had made it lose its meal, since I don't know if it could safely retrieve it from the road. Once again, the "giant eyeball" struck, and that's when I knew how birds perceive cameras! I will have to be more careful in the future because birds of prey expend a great deal of energy catching their meals, and with young ones to feed, losing their catches could prove fatal. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to get that shot, which made me feel even worse!

The one thing I realized after seeing that reasonably small bird flying with a squirrel in tow was how powerful these animals can be, and how deadly those talons are! You really wouldn't want one sinking them into your head or face, that's for sure! So, I guess I'll be grateful for the osprey shot for now!

As we were leaving the garden centre these two splendid characters were just outside collecting for a charity called 'The Not Forgotten Association'

I didn't ask their names but I tracked them down on the internet.

The president of Bournemouth branch of The Regimental Association of The Rifles & RGBW on the left is Col Mike Vernon- Powell and the Chairman of the same is Mr Les Devine.

Perfect timing for me indeed, I love these characterful faces.

I couldn't get them to stand close enough together so I had to shunt them nearer in Photoshop!

For this photo I really wanted to capture the idea of time as my greatest asset. This photo was mainly centered around the discovery that I had a giant glass hourglass. I think the photo captured the interesting idea of the evolution of time-telling and time itself.

I think the combination of the three devices are all centered around the fact that they are all ways to tell time. All of the devices are different, especially the hourglass, but they are all similar in the fact that they can be used to tell time.

Photography is all about finding the right angle and moment at the same time. Think about it... Eventually it all comes down to timing.

Offcourse, you need light but when the moment is wrong you won`t capture the real essence.

Take this scene for instance, I`ve been here lots of times, passing by and not seeing the potential of the scene. But tonight, I accidently looked back and got struck by the lines, the angle of light and the magnificent colors.

I quickly changed lenses and slapped on the DA15mm F4 ltd and searched for a nice angle.

2 minutes later the moment was gone and the sun wasn`t even down yet.

Josie's timing could not have been better. The skeleton popped up at Ricky's eye level causing them to meet face to face. "Sweet," she thought.

To be honest, Josie was relieved when her friends finally arrived. She was ready to get out of there.

In music, timing is everything. At least that's what my piano teacher said. I remember practicing many a scale and arpeggio with this metronome, and going crazy using it to get the timing even on a piece I was working on. I did some accompanying when I was older and I always got comments on what good timing I had, so I guess it worked.

As I was walking to the butcher after work tonight the sun belting down on this red brick wall caught my eye.

I was originally planning on using the shot below for my 365 pic today and then this girl just happened to walk buy in her red cardi and red shoes (which are unfortunately shaded here) . . . given her attire she was clearly not bothered at all, like I was by the 37˚c temperature today! I'd say she had just come from an air-conditioned office or car!
