As I was walking to the butcher after work tonight the sun belting down on this red brick wall caught my eye.

I was originally planning on using the shot below for my 365 pic today and then this girl just happened to walk buy in her red cardi and red shoes (which are unfortunately shaded here) . . . given her attire she was clearly not bothered at all, like I was by the 37Ëšc temperature today! I'd say she had just come from an air-conditioned office or car!

Thank you lady in red for your perfect timing!

With good timing an inbound EMT train passes by heading to Liverpool with EMR Class 170's, No 170207 still in old GE livery, paired up with No 170416 on 1L09 09:51 Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich train, passes Hough Green Station. 7 April 2025.

For this photo I really wanted to capture the idea of time as my greatest asset. This photo was mainly centered around the discovery that I had a giant glass hourglass. I think the photo captured the interesting idea of the evolution of time-telling and time itself.

I think the combination of the three devices are all centered around the fact that they are all ways to tell time. All of the devices are different, especially the hourglass, but they are all similar in the fact that they can be used to tell time.

Saltwick Bay North Yorkshire

I’m bored, like, really bored. So bored to the point that I decided to post a second photo today just to get my brain working and tell a story.

It’s been a bit since I posted a photo from my Pennsylvania trip that I dubbed PA2023, and since I’ve had quite a few new followers since my last post from the trip (which if you are new, welcome), I figured I’d drop a post from the enjoyable yet nightmarish trip.

This one I have been highly debating on posting, on one hand, the nose lighting is perfect, on the other, I hate (and I mean HATE) when things aren’t sidelit. A lot of people are telling me to post it anyway, so here goes.

This, I believe, is from the second day of the trip. My father and I had ventured over to horseshoe curve for the day, and decided to run over to Cresson for dinner and some additional trains.

We grabbed dinner at a place called The Brick on Front, which on a totally unrelated note, if you’re looking the place up on google, their fries taste just as good as they look online. Hell, they’re the best I’ve ever eaten in my 21 years of being on this planet (I was 19 at the time of this trip). Unfortunately, I can’t say too much the same for the burger, it was still okay though. Not bad for the small town that Cresson is.

Of course, the first train after dinner was the worst smelling train on the line. It is a loaded trash train (the symbol is 63V) and when it’s hot and very humid, it smells BAD. I was hoping I wasn’t about to lose my dinner, and I didn’t. But I sure as hell wasn’t going to be getting anything from The Ice Box in Bedford (where we were staying/camping).

Yet, 63V is a staple of Pittsburgh Line railfanning. This train, to my knowledge, is the only operating unit trash train in the US that is considered a road freight. It was definitely on my list of things to see on the trip, and I particularly wanted to get it at Cresson just to get it under the signal bridge. It’s a very wide image, but it’s still a cool sight of seeing a mile plus long trash train stretch down the line.

Onwards.

Josie's timing could not have been better. The skeleton popped up at Ricky's eye level causing them to meet face to face. "Sweet," she thought.

To be honest, Josie was relieved when her friends finally arrived. She was ready to get out of there.

In music, timing is everything. At least that's what my piano teacher said. I remember practicing many a scale and arpeggio with this metronome, and going crazy using it to get the timing even on a piece I was working on. I did some accompanying when I was older and I always got comments on what good timing I had, so I guess it worked.

Orchis purpurea, Bisamberg, NÖ. I went there just at the right time with all buds open.

I've tried and failed to get this shot many times over the years... First frame today though.

To be at the right place at the right time and a whole lot of patience.

I frequent this area quite often whenever I am in downtown Vancouver. For quite some time I have wanted to take a photograph at this busy intersection, but there had always been lots of challenges; overly crowded, wrong positioning, incorrect path taken by pedestrian. I guess this is as good as it gets.

"Saturday, in the Park, I think it was the 4th of July."

Actually, it was probably a Sunday. That's when most of our pick-up games happened. We would take over a meadow in Golden Gate Park and play until the fog rolled in and it got too cold. Don't remember how many players generally showed up, but now a group cannot number more than 25 to play in open spaces within the Park without a permit. Several of us were on USVBA teams and competed throughout the Northern Bay Area and over to Sacramento.

Some cars are a bit special.

The name is in honour of the companies founder Enzo Ferrari who died in 1988. Initially announced at the 2002 Paris Motor Show but by this time all the cars were sold. Ferrari had sent out invitations to purchase to those who had previously bought an F40 or F50 intending to produce 349 cars after numerous requests it was decided to extend the limit by a further 50. Before being unveiled at Paris the show car was flown to California to be used in the film Charlies Angels - Full Throttle, it was driven on a beach by Demi Moore, before being shipped to Paris. The 400th and final car was auctioned at Sotheby's Marinello in 2005 to benefit the survivors of the 2004 Tsunami it sold for 950,000 Euro almost double the list price. This was presented to Pope Benedict XVI by Michael Schumacher along with his inscribed steering wheel. Ferrari's performance figures read a top speed of 226mph and acceleration figures of 0-60mph in 3.14 seconds, 0-100mph in 6.6 seconds the standing quater mile in 11.0 seconds with a terminal speed of 136mph

Greetings all! We're back with another tidbit to help your riding improve. Transitions between gaits can be tricky. The timing alone can be a lot to think about. Consider, no matter what gait or style you are switching between, the transition should occur between the shoulder and girth of the horse. See the picture above as a reference. Green is a perfect spot for a transition, blue is satisfactory, red is too late or too early.

Find a friend, and make a game of it. Practice switching between a walk and a trot, and see how close you can get. As always if you have questions or need help, please reach out!

Ever have one of those days?

When you just have to let go. Go crazy. Run. Jump.

If you look close, he's wearing a yellow watch. It doesn't match the tie.

Strobist:

Want to know something funny? Seems like it would be hard to get the shadow of his foot resting on the ground right? There was no modeling light on the flash, so we just had to guess it. We nailed it almost every single time. Weird huh? Good timing and luck I guess.

One light - Camera right, just about eye level. It is a visitek portable battery pack, and one head. Portable is a misnomer because the sucker is pretty heavy. No diffusion used to keep the shadow nice and crisp.

Triggered with a pocket wizard
