I hadn't even noticed the additional people way in the back until uploading this photo.
I'm starting to think that setting up a camera on a tripod is the cure for isolation.

The Tundra Swans are long gone to their summer habitat. but here it is mid June and I spotted this lone Tundra Swan feeding at the east end of Rest Lake. At first I thought the marks on its neck were some kind of wound, but after getting closer it looks more like oily mud or ???
Perfect timing ... got to the beach just as a massive container ship was sailing into Liverpool Docks. Great view from Crosby Beach.
Today (2nd January 2012) is the 30th anniversary of the last Deltic-hauled train in BR service.
My timing sheet for 1F50, the "Deltic Scotsman Farewell" which ran from London King's Cross to Edinburgh and back on 2nd January 1982.
The train was organised by British Rail as the final service to be hauled by the legendary Deltic locomotives. 55015 TULYAR took the train north and the final run home was behind 55022 ROYAL SCOTS GREY. 55009 ALYCIDON was the standby locomotive, travelling up to Newcastle in case of any problems with the booked engines.
Note the weather conditions (which were frankly appalling) and the spirited run home after a dead stop at Hitchin. The Deltic gave everything on this final section and truly went out in fine style.

Today Ian and I were sitting outside relaxing and watching our backyard visitors, When all of Sudden I heard two Yellow-tail black cockatoos close by.So I looked around and saw them in our Neighbours pine tree. So I run inside and grabbed my camera and put my 150-600mm sigma lens on and open the side gate and walked a little close to our neighbours house and took as many photos as I could. Not long after I took these shot their flew off, Take about timing. I been hearing them all day. Hopefully the next time I will get them in flight.

Our Daily Challenge: Timing is everything. Yes, as my daughter so kindly pointed out, this is out of focus. My two comments: One: catching these fast little bullets speeding through the air is some kind of challenging. Two: in spite of the blurriness, I like it. So there.
A woman tends to her herd of sheep in traditional Peruvian attire. Women in Peru tend to wear all sorts of hats - their hat is a symbol of the woman's place in her society. The style is tied to their tribal affiliations, and they vary from bowler hats, to cowboy hats and everything in between. If a woman moves to the city and decides to adopt the city dress, without the hat, this is looked upon as a renouncement of their local tribal culture and community and they can never go back.
A small joint tucked away on a busy street of old part of Bangalore, Vidyarthi Bhavan is famed for its 'Masala dosas' and decoction coffee. This place has been there for 70 years. Has been visited by a lot of local dignitaries and their pencil etchings are hung on the walls. The timings are morning 7 to 10am and evening 4 to 8pm!. It had already closed when I reached there at 8pm.
