İlkin rüzgar değil sanki nefesti;
Bir kez başlayınca estikçe esti...
Sonra bir upuzun karanlık bastı;
Sürdü hep aynı düş hep aynı yorum
Şimdi duraklarda her akşam üstü
Seni bulup bulup kaybediyorum.

Wir fuhren also weiter.
On the morning of 09.04.2017 we were actually on the way to the Rhodopenbahn. For Kostenets I meant when driving past to my passenger, that this is a nice view. Unfortunately, the timetable was only one train ahead in about 30 minutes, but that was too long to wait. So we drove on. A few turns later 46 208 came to us with the MBV492 express train to Sofia. We turned "on the heel" and drove again to the subject. In the background you can see the Rhodopen pretty. I turned and heated back to this motif and it worked out perfectly.

Whereas the Aegean region is by now plastered with overhead lines, western Anatolia still has some nice non-electrified lines - which is why I spent the next few days in those surroundings. Those lines, having already been bypassed by the Polatlı/Eskişehir - Konya high speed line, are in no immediate danger of electrification (in fact, the bridge visible on the right edge of the photo is an overpass of that high speed line).
First up: the Konya Blue Train from Basmane to Konya, hauled around a pronounced curve near Kınık by DE22 080. This one I even present you twice from the same vantage point. First the more zoomed-in one. Note the patches of snow still lying around here at about 1,000 metres above sea level. Kınık, 27-03-2022.

One of a class of 11 built by Henschel in 1937 TCDD 2-8-2 46052 was another of the engines that hauled our "Turkish Delight Steam Tour".
Very few of the participants were railway enthusiasts. The holiday was just a tour of Turkey by train but we all got the chance to ride on the footplate of the variety of steam engines that pulled us. Some took the opportunity more often than others & perhaps you can guess which category I fell into.
