Despite an 'after-light' delayed departure from Burdur Gar of the 19.45 Gumusgun (-Dinar) service the classic Prussian outline of G8 44062 remains unmistakable.

Possibly the last regular Class 44001 performer on the 'Burdur System' before impending dieselisation, 44062 has survived smartly preserved in the Izmir area.

Adana allocated DE22 041 calls at Karaman station (which is in the process of being rebuilt) on the 'Toros Ekspresi' the 07.45 Adana - Konya.

DE24 339 on the 18.30 Soma-Izmir Alsancak at Muradiye, waiting for the Alsancak-Eskisehir overnight to pass through. Patience was required for this photo, as there was frequent road traffic over the level crossing between the camera and train!

A lot of patience is needed to photograph freight trains on the main line from Kayseri via Niğde to Adana. After the southbound Erciyes Ekspresi in the morning, no train could be seen for several hours, until in the early afternoon, four or five freight trains are rolling through the deep valley near Akköy within two hours. One of them was the a double-unit TCDD E43000 with an ore train, presumably from Demirdağ heading towards the steelworks/port of Payas, on the afternoon of September 18, 2025.

Built by CKD (Ceskomoravská Kolben Danek A Sp) Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1949, immaculate TCDD 2-10-0 56140 runs past on the line from Sivas to Matalya west of Kankal in central Turkey.

We were on a "Turkish Delight Steam Tour" starting in Istanbul & with our own train (baggage van, day coach & restaurant car) we did a large circuit of Turkey via Ankara, Sivas, Malatya, Alanya, Adana & Konya ending in Izmir & from Ankara pulled by a variety of steam engines.

In 2023 56140 was seen "preserved" on Sivas shed, looking very much worse for wear.

We were up early and hoping to see a required DE24 on the 06.34 Elazig - Tatvan, only to find the depot had turned out DE24 321, which we had on the 'Firat Ekspresi' the previous two days! This train runs three times a week in each direction on alternate days, and is seen here departing from Elazig at the start of its six hour journey to Tatvan.

In the last light of the day, an empty ore train from Payas towards Adana could be photographed near Sirkeli on the evening of September 14, 2025. After hours with no movement on the tracks, this train, hauled by TCDD E43045 and DE24326, brought a pleasant end to the day.

These 2-10-0 locomotives were a subsequent manufacturing order to that of TCDD Nrs. 56001-79, built in Germany in WWII. They are identical except that they were built in Great Britain. The order was placed before the war but could not be fulfilled until 1948

Sorry, this is a bit repetitive I know, but this is the other end of the station and at least I've saved you all that shoe leather.

The city of Gaziantep, with a population of more than two million in southeastern Anatolia, currently has only two "island" passenger services operated by TCDD. There is no scheduled service on the line to Narli to the TCDD network. However, a new line from Adana is under construction.

Since 2022, Gaziantep has a 25 km long, electrified commuter rail system with at least 30-minute frequencies, called "Gaziray" (a cooperation between TCDD and the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality). On the other hand, TCDD operates a single pair of passenger service with MT5600 (Sakarya) DMU railcars on the 49 km Gaziantep-Nizip section of the Narli-Karkamis line. The railcar departs Gaziantep in the late afternoon and returns to Gaziantep from Nizip at 7:00 a.m. On the evening of September 21, 2025, the double DMU MT5606 and 5609 could be photographed as Bölgesel 62712 Gaziantep - Nizip near Küllü.
