Skoda built 2-10-0 56157 is a very tight fit on the turntable at Konya loco depot.

TCDD engineers were mostly trained by Germans and adhered to the practice of using standard German types, although adapted to Turkish working conditions. As Türkiye had no domestic manufacturers, TCDD had to import all its locomotives and order them from various European manufacturers. The 2-6-0 No 34056 (turntable) was manufactured by Nohab in Denmark in 1930. It was derived from the German railway type 24 and was particularly suitable for light freight and passenger traffic --the 4th locomotive from the left. The 2-10-0 No 46005 is another Henshel product from 1932 and also custom made for Türkiye. These engines were designed using component designs from standard German locomotives of the time, such as the P8 and G8. In fact, the first batch looks like a "stretched P8" - there is a photograph of this machine in this series.

Los ingenieros de TCDD fueron formados en su mayoría por alemanes y se adhirieron a la práctica de utilizar tipos estándar alemanes, aunque adaptados a las condiciones de trabajo turcas. Como Turquía no poseía fabricantes nacionales, TCDD tuvo que importar todas sus locomotoras y encargarlas a varios fabricantes europeos. Workers' departure at Ereğli town beside its Black Sea harbour sees one of a pair of similar-likeness BRG8/2 employed on the line 45001 06.45 service to the coal mines at Armutçuk.

The Black Sea minerals line was unconnected to the national network, later becoming abandoned with eventual disposal of the pair of locos 45001/17 stationed there.

The railway ran from a large mine in Armuçuk to the port town of Karadeniz Ereğlı and the large Erdemir steel mill but passenger services also operated to small villages along the line, some as heavy 'mixed' trains.

The abandoned town alignments have become laid out as attractive boulevards.

The loco crew makes ready at Armutcuk on the Ereğli minerals railway with a train of loaded coal hoppers worked by '45001' class nr 45017.

Based on the Prussian G8/2 design 45017 is Tubize (Belgium) 2075/28, the first of eight with the majority coming from Nohab.

The Black Sea minerals line at Ereğli was unconnected to the TCDD network, later becoming abandoned with eventual disposal of the last pair of locos 45001/17 stationed there.

From memory this TCCD 2-10-0 had come to a halt for no particular reason a few kms west of Erzincan, Turkey, and was just sitting there with this tremendous backdrop just waiting for us to get our photos - March 1984.

Mit einem leeren Erzzug kämpft TCDD DE 33 048 (GT26CW-2/EMD/Tülomsaş) am 18.06.2014 auf der alten Strecke zwischen Sivas und Çetinkaya bei Karagöl dem Scheitelpunkt einer langen Steigung entgegen. Der Schneetunnel und die Schneezäune aus alten Schwellen deuten auf einen harten Winter hier im Hochland von Zentralanatolien hin.

 

TCDD DE 33 048 (GT26CW-2/EMD/Tülomsaş) climbs up a summit near Karagöl on the old line between Sivas and Çetinkaya with an eastbound ore train at June 18, 2014. The winter season might be hard in the Highland of Central Anatolia if you look to the snow tunnel and the snow fence made be old threshold.

İzmir dendiğinde belki akla ilk gelen şey olan "İzmir Saat Kulesi" aslında İzmir'e yapılan ilk saat kulesi değildir. Aydın - İzmir demiryolunun tamamlanmasının ardından ingilizler tarafından inşa edilip 1866 yılında hizmete açılan, eski adı punta şimdiki adıyla alsancak tren garının bahçesindeki bu saat kulesi izmirlilerin 5 vakit namaza göre ölçülen zaman kavramını tümden değiştirmişti. Bugün 150 yıllık mazisine meydan okurcasına halen tıkır tıkır çalışmaktadır.

Völlig überraschend hatte ich am 09. Juli 2017 die Möglichkeit einen türkischen Zug in Bosnien fotografieren zu können!

 

Es handelt sich um einen Gedenkzug mit jungen Leuten u.a. aus der Türkei an die Kriegsgeschehen in Srebrenitsa. Auch "Marsch des Friedens" genannt.

 

An diesem Tag wurde ab Sarajevo eine Besichtigung von Mostar gemacht. Hier befindet sich der Zug auf dem Rückweg nach Sarajevo, wo ich ihn im letzten Abendlicht bei Drežnica aufnehmen konnte!

 

Man beachte:

 

- Den perfekt zur ŽFBH Lok passende Anstrich,

- Den Generatorwagen an erster Stelle nach der Lokomotive

- die 2 aneinandergereihten Speisewagen mit (vermutlich!) Satellitenempfang auf dem Dach!

 

In voller Auflösung des Bildes ist zu erkennen, dass sich die Fahrgäste gerade in den Speisewagen befinden um wohl ein Abendessen einzunehmen!

Nahezu jeden Morgen gegen 06-07:00 Uhr verlässt ein Güterzug Elazığ in Richtung Tatvan mit Waggons mit der Bestimmung Iran, die in Tatvan über den Van-See mit einer Fähre trajektiert werden. So auch am 18.08.2023 als der Zug eine gute dreiviertel Stunde nach Abfahrt bei Konakalmaz am Ufer des Keban Baraji (Stausee des Murat) fotografiert werden konnte, mit TCDD DE 33073 (Tülomsaş/EMD) als Zuglok und der DE 24288 (Tülomsaş/MTE) als Schiebelok.

 

Almost every morning around 06-07:00 a freight train leaves Elazığ in the direction of Tatvan with wagons in the direction of Iran, which are routed in Tatvan via Lake Van with a ferry. This was also the case on August 18, 2023, when the train was photographed near Konakalmaz on the banks of the Keban Baraji (Murat reservoir), with TCDD DE 33073 (Tülomsaş/EMD) in front and the DE 24288 (Tülomsaş/MTE) at the end of the train as helper locomotive.

The climb from Alsancak terminus completed, 2-8-2 nr 46105 rests at Gaziemir 06.35T,SO Ödemış 'Mixed' the classic light consist over the Aegean branches.

46105 the last working example of six is Robert Stephenson, Darlington 1932 ex ORC Rlys 130-135.

An unusual occurrence of over two hours stricken near Ovaköy as DE18-109 (left) is pulled up 15.15 Uşak to Izmir Basmane just a short distance into journey.

Coming into view is rescue loco DE18-116 eventually turning up 17.45 from the west.

The mind was working overtime savouring the idea of one of Alaşehir's steam pilots (BR55) given a run out!

Zweimal am Tag pendelt ein Dieseltriebwagen der TCDD Reihe DM15000 (HyundaiRotem / Eurotem) zwischen Divriği und Erzincan entlang des tief eingeschnittenen und nur schwer zugänglichen Çalti Çayi-Flusses. Kurz nach dem Verlassen des Bahnhofs Divriği konnte am 23.08.2024 eine unerkannt gebliebene Triebwagen-Einheit als Bölgesel 42608 nach Erzincan fotografiert werden.

  

Twice a day, a TCDD DM15000 series DMU (HyundaiRotem / Eurotem) is running between Divriği and Erzincan along the canyon-like Çalti Çayi river. Shortly after leaving Divriği station, one of these DMU was photographed on August 23, 2024 as Bölgesel 42608 to Erzincan.

"Skyliner" 56357 heads the 1315 Zonguldak - Çaycuma local passenger, south of Hisaronu.

Class 33.04 0-6-0T 3304 (Henschel/1918) shunting at Hisarönü, between Caycuma and Zonguldak. 3301 was the first of a batch of 10 locomotives supplied to the Turkish Army during World War 1.

 

Tenderlocomotief 3304 van de TCDD slijt haar laatste dagen in de rangeerdienst te Hisarönü, tussen Caycuma and Zonguldak. De locomotief is een van tien exemplaren die door Henschel in 1918 voor het leger werd gebouwd.

Elektrische locomotief E 43005 (25 kV, Bo'Bo'Bo', Toshiba, Tülomsaş, 1987) arriveert in Istanbul Haydarpaşa met een trein bestaande uit voorstadsmaterieel.

Een Duits aandoende locomotief in Turkije. In 1927 bouwde de Zweedse fabriek Nydqvist & Holm (Nohab) 18 stoomlocomotieven met asindeling E' die gebaseerd waren op de Duitse G10 van de KPEV.

With a delay of more than 30 minutes (which seems to be quite standard on this train: a few days earlier, I was a passenger on it and arrived at İzmir an hour late), E68 034 is - again - on duty to haul the İzmir Blue Train from Ankara to Basmane. Dilek, 25-03-2022.

Duty G10 type 0-10-0 station pilot 55043 busies with wagon loads toward the various freight duties on the Afyon-Manisa artery from this centre, most freight line work in the hands of 56501 2-10-0s.

One of the rail lines far right is the throat to Uşak steam shed.

The second coach is a Rumanian, a former German - Hawa build sleeper. My favorite sleeping car for over 50 years.

Staying with a Turkish nostalgia theme, Burdur is a province of Mediterranean Türkiye at that period seeing MT5500 dmus by Fiat delivered 1960-61.

Through a typical Anatolian landscape one such vehicle set comes past Lake Burdur 12.30 Isparta-Burdur service.

My itinerary over a week consisted: Isparta, Eğirdir, Burdur, Karakuyu, Afyon and Uşak.
