An on-time arrival at Izmir Basmane on the 'Konya Mavi' overnight, and we were happy to see DE24 334 (a recent transfer in from Afyon) on the 07.30 Izmir Basmane - Uşak.
E68 018 and E68 033 are seen stabled on stock at Eskisehir station. With testing over for the day TCDD crew are 'clocking off'. Brand new DE36 011 is just visible on the far left, having just been dragged out of the works at Eskisehir by a shunter.

The train in the foreground is the rear unit of a Başkentray service from Sincan to Kayas (2 x 3-car units) while that in the background is a single 3-car unit on a Polatlı to Ankara Gar service.
The turntable at Odemis is too short for TCDD 46105 (RS 1932), which has worked the Odemis mixed. So loco and tender have been separated, and the loco is now shunting its tender on to the turntable. After both have turned, they will be recoupled ready for the return working to Izmir. April 1983.

In 1977 was de inzet van het type S160 gereduceerd tot enkele exemplaren. (Foto van loc 45176 in depot Kayseri). In de oorlog bouwde de United States Army Transportation Corps (USATC) meer dan 2100 locomotieven voor de inzet voor goederentreinen in Europa. Na de oorlog zijn er 50 exemplaren in Turkije achtergebleven, genummerd 45171 tot 45220.
