70000 Britannia storms past Helwith Bridge with the Cumbrian Mountain Express on March 3 2012.

This used to pump water for the town of Goulburn, in the days when steam was king and Goulburn had water.

 

The Appleby Beam Engine is bigger than it looks, about 3 - 4 storeys high, and taking the photo in the confined space therefore tricky. This is a composite (pano) of 3 or 4 shots.

Spent 2 nights in Eastbourne and 2 nights at Hastings away with Clare.

Carters Steam Fair celebrated their return to Maidenhead with a procession from the bridge up to Pinkney's Green.

 

We camped out on Castle Hill waiting for all the steam engines to come by. Hardly any of my shots came out as I'd hoped, but this one had some nice motion blur.

 

I was stood on small island in the middle of the road.

A wonderfully flattering picture of me. Hotpants and knee socks is a look that will never die.
