This old farm steam engine body, in a field close by the the coastal path is slowly disintegrating and since I visited last it has lost its its back which creates a window through to the secenery behind. I'm very fond of this this rusty relic and make a point of taking photos of it from time to time.
The North London tank had its LMS identity restored for an earlier event in 2023 and now sits on display on Platform 1 at Horsted Keynes with West Country pacific Blackmore Vale
The steam engines parade through town and gather at the fairgrounds during the local fall festival. At noon, they all sound their whistles.
This beam engine at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum is actually older than any I've seen in the UK! I was particularly interested in the sun-and-planet gears to transfer the arc motion of the beam into circular motion. Apparently the much simpler crank to do this was still under patent, so Boulton&Watt came up with this more complex solution.
