Strictly speaking not at all in the centre

Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).

They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.

They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

Artist Statement:

“Lady Corona Comforts the Children” is part of a series I developed during the pandemic featuring a figure called "Lady Corona,” a comforting figure not unlike a deity or favorite doll. She is flanked by 19 flowers (symbolic of COVID-19), wears gloves, a face mask, and a small crown. Because the quilting medium is familiar and traditional, it allows me to make strong, even provocative, statements related to social justice reform in an approachable way. “Lady Corona Comforts the Children” places this comforting figure at the southern border during the infamous “kids in cages” practices of the Trump administration.

Two styles from the Asymmetrical & Mismatched section of the exhibition: a fall 1990 suit by Christian Francis Roth (left) and a circa 1973 dress by Stephen Burrows (right).

I chose to do pollution. Countries such as China, India, Peru, and Russia and a few other countries in Eastern Europe contain the top 10 polluted cities in the world. People throw everyday items away and don't think of recycling, making the environment suffer.

Took some photos for a family friend who makes jewellery & sells on Etsy. Here's a link to her etsy shop for this particular piece : www.etsy.com/uk/listing/259245906/original-statement-silv...

I thought this was really neat. A customer brought us this statement from 1945. I don't know why they kept it all this time.

I don't think that was on the plan, eh Leon?

He was hard to miss because he was sneezing!

I used a finer weight sparkly yarn for this version and tried a different edging. The edging didn't turn out quite as nice as I had hoped, even with a bit of blocking. Still, I do like this one!
