The IAEA Event: Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power will highlight the crucial role of nuclear power as part of the energy mix. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi will announce the ‘IAEA Statement on Nuclear Power’ supported by 40 countries, both those already operating nuclear power plants and newcomers. Together these countries acknowledge that all available low-carbon technologies, including nuclear power, should be recognized, and actively supported. The Statement underlines the benefits of nuclear power, including that nuclear power plants produce no harmful greenhouse gas emissions; that nuclear energy contributes to energy security and the stability of power grids; and that it mitigates air pollution at a local level.

This Lotus Elise is discretly hidden down at Pt Parham. It was driven there by a friend of mine, attending my 40th Birthday. We started out from the club (took me ages to squeeze into the car and I dislocated my shoulder). Inside, it was spacious but you had to sit down into the car as the seats were so low, and so close to the ground. We drove out the drive way with a little acceleration and I could sence the power.
Once we navigated a dirt driveway (very close to the ground so the rutts seemed huge) we did some light painting. It was awesome fun and I love the results.
Thanks to my mate who provided the subject .. way into the night to about 1 am.

Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General
New York, 18 August 2009 - Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on the deaths of UNAMA staff members in Kabul, Afghanistan
The Secretary-General is deeply distressed by the news that two Afghan UN staff members were killed, and a third injured, in a suicide attack in Kabul earlier today, which reportedly killed seven people and wounded many more. The Secretary-General offers his deepest condolences to the families of those killed and his best wishes for a rapid recovery to those who were injured.
Statement of UN Special Representative Kai Eide on death of UNAMA staff members
I am shocked and greatly saddened to have learned that two of my staff members were among those killed in today’s suicide bombing on Kabul’s Jalalabad Road.
A third colleague has been wounded and is currently being treated for his injuries. All are nationals of Afghanistan.
At this time UNAMA is in the process of contacting the families of our colleagues to inform them of this tragedy. And we will grieve together. I condemn completely those responsible.

Batten down the hatches!
Strong winds Friday.
Strong southwesterly wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected to develop Friday afternoon and Friday evening, with higher wind gusts likely in thunderstorms. These strong winds are associated with a cold front that will track over the area late in the afternoon and early in the evening.
Additionally, northwest winds gusting to 60 or 70 km/h are also expected in the evening after the cold front passes. Winds will then diminish overnight.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Dear Friends and Visitors,
“ There are times when
something is possible
there are times
when nothing is possible
there are times when
everything is possible. ”
- Naqshbandi Recital
Thanks to everyone for visiting my picture/ erstwhile poetry sitelet this autumn. I was surprised by the thousand - plus hits I had in perhaps 2 months of placing my material on this site.
I continue my photography and poetry off this site because the purpose has been served. When the school is over it closes when the need has been fulfilled. Indeed the web site hit counter was increasing geometrically, but that in itself means nothing since the purpose I set out for myself was sufficiently reached.
I learned that I can express myself somewhat deeply herein. There seems to be no correlation or little between the visual experience of presentation of words - in this case poetry in other cases verbalizations - and pictures. In some cases the pictures I attempted to correlate strongly with pictures, and in other cases only tangentially. Such effort reinforces the perhaps atavistic belief and finding that art is the only means at human’s disposal to express the ineffable, to stop the moment.
Thank you for visiting.
Yours in the transfinities,
Todd

The Mets' official statement on the giveaway: "Upon inspecting tonight's Todd Frazier Replica BP Pullover giveaway we recognized there was a quality control issue in the production of the item. Thus, we will not be distributing the pullovers at tonight's game and they are being remade by the manufacturer. We will provide vouchers and redemption information to the first 15,000 fans through the turnstiles so that they can receive the item at a later date. We apologize for the inconvenience."
