in Lisbon, Portugal.
Lisbon and the Lisbon Coast seem to be a paradise for street artists. Although most of it doesn´t add much to the scenery and many of the tags and pieces are neither beautiful nor respect the posessions of others, there are a handful of witty and well-made examples around.
Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).
They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.
They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

Chris Kelly (Dudley South) (Con): My right hon. Friend might be interested to hear that I have recently visited businesses in Dudley South that are now exporting to markets such as Mexico, Brazil and the far east. Given the decline of the European Union’s share of world GDP and world trade over the past decade, does he agree that we need to ensure that we have robust relationships with the rising powers in Asia and south America as much as with the declining powers in the EU?
The Prime Minister: My hon. Friend is right. What we want to have is the best of both worlds. We want to have the single market in Europe and use it to drive free trade deals with countries in south and central America and the far east, so that we maximise trade for Britain, Europe and the world.

GRAND OPENING World Press Photo, Willy-Brandt-Haus, Berlin 2015
The Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus e.V., Gruner+Jahr and the magazines Stern and Geo present the photo exhibition.
A clear statement against the persecution of homosexuals in Russia has been voted the world's best press photo of the year. The jury of the World Press Photo competition awarded the prestigious prize to Danish photographer Mads Nissen. He photographed the gay couple Jon and Alex in an intimate moment in Saint Petersburg. The photo is part of a larger project by the photographer on the subject of “Homophobia in Russia”.
The jury justified its choice by stating that the photo impressively addresses a universal topic. Life in Russia is becoming increasingly difficult for homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people. “Sexual minorities face legal and social discrimination, persecution and even violent hate crimes from conservative religious and nationalist groups,” the jury's report states.
“This photograph has great aesthetic power and shows humanity,” said jury chair Michele McNally, director of photography at The New York Times. “Violent images today are produced by terrorists for propaganda purposes. Our response to this must be more subtle,” said jury member Alessia Glaviano.
The jury selected the winners from around 98,000 photos from 131 countries. Prizes were awarded to 42 photographers in eight categories. The winning photos will be shown in an exhibition in Amsterdam from April and then in over 40 countries. They will be exhibited at the Willy Brandt House in Berlin from June 5 to 28.

Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power, Shared Presentations Stage 3, Thematic Arena 3, Opportunity petal, an IAEA Statement Event at the United Nations Climate Change Conference UNCCC held at the Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Blue Zone, 1 December 2023
The IAEA Event: Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power will highlight the crucial role of nuclear power as part of the energy mix. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi will announce the ‘IAEA Statement on Nuclear Power’ supported by 40 countries, both those already operating nuclear power plants and newcomers. Together these countries acknowledge that all available low-carbon technologies, including nuclear power, should be recognized, and actively supported. The Statement underlines the benefits of nuclear power, including that nuclear power plants produce no harmful greenhouse gas emissions; that nuclear energy contributes to energy security and the stability of power grids; and that it mitigates air pollution at a local level.

Trajes De Luces by Anthony Rubio
As many of you have come to learn, nothing designed by Anthony Rubio is done by accident. His work is quite deliberate making a clear statement about his inspiration and his personal interpretation. Extensive research goes from hours to days spent cultivating and mastering the execution of the final product. His are not just designs of garments but works of meticulously hand crafted art.
Of recent days, Anthony has come to notice an influence in up coming fashions which draws on not just materials or colors but on culture. Though Mr. Rubio "Does Not" condone or support any activity or sport that brings about the killing of any living creature it is the elaborate and flamboyant fashion worn by the "Matador" for the bull fight that has taken him on this new adventure. It is the pomp and premise as well as the celebration that has stirred an interest and ultimately influenced these new works of "Art" by Anthony Rubio.
The traje de luces (suit of lights) is the traditional clothing that Spanish bullfighters (toreros, picadors and rejoneadors) wear in the bullring. The term originates from the sequins and reflective threads of gold or silver. These trajes are based on the flamboyant costumes of the 18th-century dandies and showmen involved in tauromachia, which later became exclusive to the bullfighting ritual. Later adornments include the montera hat, elaborate embroidery and decorative accessories.
For this new and so unique collection, Anthony Rubio has researched the history of the actual garments worn by the matadors and the symbolic colors and traditional tailoring involved in creating such a statement piece like the Chaquetillas (short jackets). All kinds of luxurious materials were combined creating new textures and colors adorned with metallic threads, gilded lace, pearls, crystals and of course the artisan skill to create a form, a shape normally applied to humans only in this case transformed to fit canines. It all culminates in a celebration of the regal yet pompous and egotistical matador.
Without further delay we present to you Anthony Rubio Designs Trajes De Luces.

According to a 2005 study, less than half of today's Richistanis agreed with the statement that "wealth has made me happier." Even more surprising was the discovery that 10 percent of millionaires (and 16 percent of female millionaires) felt that their wealth actually created more problems than it solved.
The American wealth boom has not only created more rich people; it has also created more rich-people problems. While money has showered Richistanis with obvious benefits, like freedom, power and all those boats and planes, it has also burdened them with troubles they never imagined . . . family squabbles, endless choices in how to spend and invest their money, and a constant fear of losing it . . .

Suicide by Poison Suspected in Ariz. Court Death
June 30, 2012
As the word "guilty" filled the silence of a Phoenix courtroom, defendant Michael Marin closed his eyes, put his head in his hands and appeared to put something in his mouth. He then took a swig from a sports bottle.
Minutes later, the 53-year-old Marin was dead.
Now investigators are trying to confirm their suspicion that Marin popped a poisoned pill after the jury found him guilty of arson, a bizarre ending to a case that began in 2009 when he emerged from his burning mansion in scuba gear.
Prosecutors said he torched his home when he couldn't keep up with the payments. Marin, an attorney and father of four, faced seven to 21 years in prison.
Marin, a former Wall Street trader, had summited Everest and wrote on his Facebook page that he had scaled six of the world's seven tallest mountains. He also was an art collector who had original Picassos.
Prosecutors painted him as a desperate man who had $50 in his bank account in July 2009, down from $900,000 a year earlier. He also had a monthly mortgage on the mansion of $17,250 and an upcoming balloon payment of $2.3 million.
Marin also had another mortgage of $2,500 on a different home and owed $34,000 in taxes, prosecutors said.
On July 5, 2009, Marin told investigators that he escaped a blaze in his 10,000-sqaure-foot mansion in a posh part of Phoenix using a rope ladder and wearing scuba gear to avoid inhaling smoke.
On Thursday, a jury found Marin guilty of a felony count of arson of an occupied structure.
After the verdict, he appeared to put something in his mouth, according to video footage. Soon after, a bright-red Marin coughed, reached for a tissue, buried his face in his hands and appeared to sob, The Arizona Republic reported.
Marin then began making noises that sounded like snores and whoops as he began convulsing and fell on the floor face-first, according to the newspaper.
Among Marin's last posts on Facebook, in November 2009, was a photo of his four children that said there was something more important to him than his Everest conquest.
"More than anything else I may have accomplished in this life, this is what really matters to me: the blessing of knowing the amazing individuals I am privileged to call my children," he wrote.
Artist's Statement
About ten years ago I was standing under a particularly impressive Red Maple (Acer rubrum) in the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Massachusetts. The tree is in an area of mature forest, Red Maple, Red Oak and White Ash tower over the Witch Hazel and Striped Maple understory. In the upper canopy Scarlet Tanagers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and Red-eyed Vireos went about their business. To observe them I lay flat under the tree and looked straight up with binoculars. I decided then that I wanted to climb up and observe the canopy directly. But how to do it? On the largest trees the trunks rose 60 or more feet before reaching the first branch.
A few years later I’d begun learning rope and harness tree climbing technique and I was eventually able to climb up into that same tree. During my climbs I realized that the process of climbing created a new relationship with the tree. Physical engagement and close proximity revealed aspects of individual trees not easily perceived from the ground. I brought my camera with me and began the process of attempting to capture these qualities. The photographs in the show represent views from the ground and from height in the trees.
Technical Notes
The large images are shot with a Canon10D digital SLR, the smaller images with a Canon point-and-shoot digital camera. I printed the images with an Epson 2200 inkjet printer using archival pigment inks. The images are printed on Moab Entrada Bright White, 300 gsm 100% cotton rag. The frames are hand made from pine boards and fallen branches of Yellow and Black Birch. The prints are permanently attached to the frames, I consider them all of one piece.
