Sometimes love is like sand, it slips through your fingers.
Dianthus petals and raindrops.
Back on Monday to leave comments on your pictures.
Sometimes when I edit an image even thought I like the image in color it just doesn't pop out to me. It looks like every other image I have seen of that subject and is just missing something. In those cases, I try it in Mono.... I like this much better.
Sometimes things don't work out as planned. We had wanted to visit a well preserved ruin called the Moon House, so named because the phases of the moon are painted on the walls of one of the interior rooms. We were thwarted by icy conditions on the descent into the canyon. The route down goes across an icy snowy area then one has to slide down an icy slope and land on a pile of rocks. We decided that if somehow we made it down the ice to the rock pile, the return back up the icy slope would be beyond my capabilities. Also, there likely would be more icy descents we couldn't see from here. So we traveled along the rim and got an exterior shot. But no shot of the moon phases, sadly. Another time perhaps.

Wildflower in the morning sunlight from behind at the Ravines on this past Sunday.
An eerie train whistle can be heard from the station yard at Sheringham.
It's only Ol' Bones, the long gone driver, on his engine, always an oily rag in hand.

Have you noticed that sometimes aspen seem to be watching us?
This is a composite, slud quite a bit in Lr and then in Ps.
The original, seen below in the first comment box (and if that comment doesn't show, hitting the browser's refresh button should do the trick), is an intentional camera movement image.
Using a pretty slow shutter speed, and panning the camera vertically created the original image.
The result of sliding in Lr is the next image in the first comment box. Clarity and Vibrance sliders were utilized. Tone curve sliders were adjusted.
At the same time that I had created the intentional camera movement image, I had also made some standard still images of this group of aspen.
In Ps, I composited in bits of the same trees from the still image, using masks, then sliding opacity.
I've often talked about using luminosity alpha channels to constrain adjustments to areas based on luminosity. I had created those channels and used them to increase contrast only within the mid tones, leaving the brightest and darkest tones untouched from the version created in Lr. Googling for Tony Kuyper's tutorials will give lots of wonderful information.
Lastly, I felt that the image was too far toward the yellow and green end of the color temperature range, so a photo filter adjustment layer was added with a magenta filter at the top of the Ps layer stack. And of course its density and opacity sliders were adjusted.
I hope your sliders sunday is going well. I haven't been able to be online much in the past few weeks. Work has been extremely busy. I've been needing to go in early and so have been unable to post to groups and properly view and comment on photos. So I haven't felt right about posting and running. Been getting home late after work and so haven't even had time to be working on photos. We've been helping friends move. We've had friends in and out of the hospital.
So today is especially appreciated. I haven't gone in to work, I'm staying home, and I get to now go visit the sliders sunday pool and see the intriguing images everyone has posted!
hss!
nature just takes your breath away.. Specially when you are there to feel the wind, the sound of sea, and the end of a day

Sometimes what happens behind the scene is too interesting, missed out on taking a shot of when a stray dog getting catched.
During my time at the shelter, I had the opportunity to follow the “catch and release” team when they captured stray dogs in their work to reduce the stray dog population. The dogs are neutered and vaccinated against rabies after which they are released to the same place where they were captured.
The team was well received in the villages we visited, especially the children found it very exciting.

Sometimes just before a thunderstorm, there is a quiet period of unusual tranquility. Ambient noises are muffled by an eerie stillness. The birds stop chirping and the dog hides under the bed.
You may want to bask in this quiet time but you've been down this road before and you know that these clouds mean business. So in the calm times in between, you make hay while the sun shines to put in reserve to nurture you through the storms.
Like thunderstorms, life is unpredictable and we never quite know how things will go. Some storms bring disaster and other storms yield colorful rainbows. But most storms just bring us nurturing rain and we grow on.
Sometimes life is like a Ferris wheel: if you are afraid of heights, you miss the chance to have the most beautiful view in the park…

Sometimes it takes a downpour to reveal a moment worth capturing. This photo was taken just after a heavy rainstorm—a stroke of chance that gifted me this peaceful scene. The path, the light, the reflection on the water: everything aligned for a brief instant. A quiet opportunity, caught between storm and stillness.

but i don't know if i love you for ever
Oh, what crazy things I say
I always knew we ment to be together

Sometimes it seems Christmas lights are a bit bland. Here's a surefire way to give the display some zip.
Shoot at high ISO (1000 or 1250), open the F stop to 4 or 5, take aim, take your shot and twist the zoom ring at the same time. You may need to experiment with the settings to get it right. Remember, twist and shout!!!
Sometimes the general public will refer to these structures are lighthouses when they are actually the range lights. I think it is neat that the range lights are housed in a tower that looks like a lighthouse though. This one is on Lake Ontario.
