Sometimes it's just a certain pattern, in a certain light, of course, that conspires to strike the eye...and trip the shutter! Photographed at golden hour in Toronto, minutes before sunset on February 8, 2022. Processed in PS.

Sometimes the light is quite stunning in the mountains, it sure is hard to catch the beauty

Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire. Stone carving of a grotesque face on the gate posts of the Stables (late 19th century - though the architecture tries to emulate the style of a 17th century French chateau). It is a fascinating sculpture which invites a reaction. Fuji X-E2 plus Helios 44M-7 at approx. F5.6.

The month of May is backyard birding month, but the cold weather seems to have this year's activity off to a slow start.

Then there is my Grackle problem.

Sometimes, I would almost swear he's smiling at me...

Sometimes nothing matters as long as we are being together.

Day 174/366

Sometimes you wake up early to photograph a scene, head out, the tire pressure is low, the tank needs gas, the coffee is cold, and its raining. You get to the location and after you wade in 10 inches of mud for about a mile, you realize someone tagged the canyon with the waterfall. No shot for you, even after all the pain.

Other times the stars align and you can't seem to take a bad shot. There was pain in getting here, but it was worth it this time.

This is another image I shot in the Watkins Glen State Park. Yes, I know that gorge is normally all about the Rainbow Bridge, but there are lots of other great compositions too. Especially when you get up at stupid-o-clock to be there alone after sleeping most of the night in the rental car to be sure you were the first one there.

Victory. Let me know what you think.

Sometimes it is good to play around a little bit. It is all about the mood.

Happy Darn Barn Wednesday

Possibly Sliders Sunday as well.

Sometimes you need to take a moment and be grateful for the people in your life …

The ones that teach you how to fly again after you had a broken a wing❤️

The ones who know you are hurting even though you have never even said a word.

The ones who don’t judge when you are a wreck and instead help you pick up your broken pieces ❤️

Sometimes it is just nice to know someone is there .... even if it is just to sit there quietly with you.

Always..... always be kind ...and be grateful for these friends... as they are few and far between ... make sure they know how much they mean to you.

So very grateful for the amazing friends and family in my life!

My act of kindness this weekend was letting two city slickers camp on my land overnight. These guys were unbelievably happy as pigs in shit. lol I think of this land I live on as home and they think it is paradise. I guess I would too if I lived in the city...

Sometimes we get so caught up with things in our head that we fail to see the beauty and the good things in life right next to us...

"Sometimes

I feel like I want to live

Far from the metropolis

Just walk through that door

Sometimes

I feel like I want to die

Reach out to the painted sky

A prisoner to the wind

A bird on the wing

Sometimes

I feel the ocean in my blood

See rain from the sky above

Her salt brine tears

And now

Those tears leave a taste on my tongue

Like the warm rush you get from

Black opium

Black opium

Sometimes

I feel like I want to leave

Behind all these memories

And walk through that door

Outside

The black night calls my name

But all roads look the same

They lead nowhere

They lead nowhere"

Making their first pull from the mine, LS&I's 3-Tilden has 61 loads of ore in tow for the dock at Marquette with U30C 3009 leading the charge. The 7-Tilden got held up for a brief period while spotting their 121 empties on their last trip down the hill and as a result delayed the 3-Tilden. After getting permission to depart the mine for the yard at Eagle Mills West, the two venerable GEs give it their all too keep this heavy train moving as they have for the last few decades. Up until the train was here, the sun had ruined this photo. Fortunately, a well timed cloud covered the sun up just enough allowing me to get this final frame of the greens before starting the long trek back home.

There's a place where I go that no one else knows,

Where mysteries abound and excitement grows.

A place out of reach of any man's hands,

Safely secluded in a far away land

This place I describe is all that it seems ...

It's a magical place I call my dreams.

Sometimes they leave things behind...

I Just Need to Shut This Guy Off

people we thought were our rocks turn out to be our albatross... remember this ~ Never forget the three types of people in your life ~ 1) Who helped you in your difficult time. 2) Who left you in your difficult times. 3) Who put you in a difficult time.

that's what friends are for

Sometimes it's nice to take a slow paddle and appreciate the subtleties of water .

...just trust what IS in the light...and carry on. A lesson that is not easy to learn.

sometimes it's just fun to overcook things!

Sometimes light filtered through a cloudy sky can be more fascinating than brilliant sunshine (or maybe that’s the Scot in me talking!).

Sometimes a bit of fancy footwork will dazzle those fish into submission. Lance-A-Lot moves gracefully though the shallow water on Horsepen bayou in search of his next meal. Tri-colored Heron doing a bit of foraging on the bayou.

Sometimes the conditions for an eye-popping panorama just aren't there... like on this morning when clouds had covered most of the Wenkchemna Peaks in Banff National Park. Fortunately, a brief window opened up in the cloud cover and beautifully illuminated the larches on the north side of little Eiffel Lake.

Sometimes when I edit an image even thought I like the image in color it just doesn't pop out to me. It looks like every other image I have seen of that subject and is just missing something. In those cases, I try it in Mono.... I like this much better.
