Sometimes known as the Crested Screamer and closely related to Geese. These birds have a monogamous relationship that can last a life time. When in courtship both birds will give out loud calls that are said to be heard up to two miles away hence the name Screamer. For the large size and their partly webbed feet these birds are surprisingly good swimmers. Can be found in Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina in grasslands and cultivated fields feeding on seeds, leafs, and occasionally small animals.

Meadow Pipit - Anthus Pratensis
The meadow pipit (Anthus pratensis) is a small passerine bird which breeds in much of northwestern Eurasia, from southeastern Greenland and Iceland east to just east of the Ural Mountains in Russia, and south to central France and Romania; there is also an isolated population in the Caucasus Mountains. It is migratory over most of its range, wintering in southern Europe, North Africa and south-western Asia, but is resident year-round in western Europe. However, even here, many birds move to the coast or lowlands in winter.
It is primarily a species of open habitats, either uncultivated or low-intensity agriculture, such as pasture, bogs, and moorland, but also occurs in low numbers in arable croplands. In winter, it also uses saltmarshes and sometimes open woodlands. It is a fairly terrestrial pipit, always feeding on the ground, but will use elevated perches such as shrubs, fence lines or electricity wires as vantage points to watch for predators.
The estimated total population is 12 million pairs. It is an abundant species in the north of its range, and generally the commonest breeding bird in most of upland Britain, but less common further south. Breeding densities range from 80 pairs per square kilometre in northern Scandinavia, to 5–20 pairs per square kilometre in grassland in the south of the breeding range, and just one pair per square kilometre in arable farmland. There are a small number of isolated breeding records from south of the main range, in the mountains of Spain, Italy, and the northern Balkans.
There has been a general decline in the population over the past 17 years, most notable in French farmland, with a 68% drop.

A flock of birds
Hovering above
Just a flock of birds
That's how you think of love
And I always
Look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn
Cause they fly always
Sometimes they arrive
Sometimes they are gone
They fly on
A flock of birds
Hovering above
Into smoke i'm turned and rise
Following them up
Still I always
Look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn
Cause they fly away
One minute they arrive
Next you know they're gone
They fly on
Fly on
Ohhh
So fly on
Ride through
Maybe one day I'll fly next to you
Fly on
Ride through
Maybe one day I can fly with you

Sometimes looking at certain images it seems that the water moves, although the photograph does not do those things, in me it produces those sensations. Greetings and good weekend to all who visit my gallery.

This section carved by an underground river sometimes during heavy rains can be flooded.
Sometimes the picture we have visualized in our minds actually happens! My thanks to the Red-tailed Hawk for giving me this great photo opportunity!
Sometimes I see potential in a photo for these effects. Sometimes I just go willy nilly and see what happens. Sometimes I just put the photo in the trash and start over.
This is done using a layer mask and blur effect in Photoshop Elements.
Happy Slider Sunday
Sometimes you just have to stop and look at the beauty around you. Off in the distance is my daughter, on the beach at Point Pelee National Park. This dawn sky was so amazing, that time just seemed to stand still for one to take in this sight.

It happens sometimes, that I don't see in the drawings of the sequence of the folding steps, what a designer means. It took me a while before I saw that this Hippopotamus had his mouth width open ;-)

The peony is a flowering plant in the genus Paeonia, the only genus in the family Paeoniaceae. They are native to Asia, Southern Europe and Western North America. Boundaries between species are not clear and estimates of the number of species range from 25 to 40.
Most are herbaceous perennial plants 0.5–1.5 metres (1.6–4.9 ft) tall, but some resemble trees 1.5–3 metres (4.9–9.8 ft) tall. They have compound, deeply lobed leaves and large, often fragrant, flowers, ranging from red to white or yellow, in late spring and early summer.
The peony is named after Paeon (also spelled Paean), a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil; Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower.
The family name "Paeoniaceae" was first used by Friedrich K.L. Rudolphi in 1830, following a suggestion by Friedrich Gottlieb Bartling that same year. The family had been given other names a few years earlier. The composition of the family has varied, but it has always consisted of Paeonia and one or more genera that are now placed in Ranunculales. It has been widely believed that Paeonia is closest to Glaucidium, and this idea has been followed in some recent works. Molecular phylogenetic studies, however, have demonstrated conclusively that Glaucidium belongs in Ranunculaceae, but that Paeonia belongs in the unrelated order Saxifragales.
Peonies can be classified by both plant growth habit and flower type. Plant growth types are Herbaceous (nonwoody), Tree (shrub), and Itoh (or "Intersectional"), which is intermediate between herbaceous and tree forms. In winter herbaceous peonies die back to their underground parts, whereas tree peonies lose their leaves but retain viable woody stems above ground. The Itoh hybrids are intermediate between herbaceous and tree forms. They are named after Toichi Itoh, who first produced a successful intersectional hybrid in 1948.
The following sequence of flower types becomes more complex in its arrangement of petals. The flower types include Single (e.g., Athena, Scarlet O’Hara), Japanese (Nippon Beauty, Madame Butterfly), Anemone, Semi-Double (Paula Fay, Buckeye Belle), Double (Gardenia, Paul M. Wild) and Bomb-Double (Raspberry Sundae, Mons Jules Elie).

Sometimes folks you just get lucky, have a great and safe day everyone.
Thank you for stopping by and for all the kind words, always very much appreciated.
Sometimes the notion of having wings and just being able to soar far above all of life's problems seems like an incredible escape. Birdie and I went for a walk this evening, and he seemed very happy to be carried along, never once flying off. We are good friends, and he said he didn't want to leave me down here by myself with my feet firmly planted on pixel earth, so he quietly kept me company in the comforting way that only our furry and feathered friends can. And my spirit soared, and my mood brightened as a result. ♥

Sometimes when I have to clean up the hard drive, pictures appear that I have completely forgotten. I just rediscovered this one and I took it once when I was walking in the forest looking for sunrays. It gives me a feeling of tranquility when I look close at it, so I want to save it from the vault :-)

Woodchat Shrike - - Lanius Senator
Shrikes are medium sized predatory birds with hooked bills, sometimes known as butcher birds in recognition of the way in which they catch their prey and feed (from the Latin genus derivative Lanius meaning butcher).
The adult male woodchat shrike has predominantly black upperparts and white underparts with a rufous crown, nape and upper mantle. The forehead is black extending to a black mask across the eyes and along the side of the neck finishing just prior to the rufous nape. Chin and throat are white as are the flanks and breast. The shoulders are a bold white partly obscured by a black lower mantle which becomes obvious when the bird is in flight. The back, upper wing and upper tail areas are in the main dark brown or black and the rump and the tip of the central tail feathers white. There is a broad white bar near the base of the primary feathers on the upper wing extending from the area of the alula (bastard wing) across to the median coverts, again particularly prominent in flight. The eye is very dark and the legs and stout hooked bill are black. Adult females are similar to the male although the crown and nape is paler and less rufous than the male and there is a whitish stripe across the top and around the eye and she is duller overall. Juvenile birds have grey brown upper parts with mottling to the head and shoulders and pale grey underparts with darker grey horizontal bars.
The preferred diet is one of beetles or spiders, caterpillars or large flying insects frequently caught on the wing or attacked on the ground from above but can also include small birds and lizards. The Woodchat spends a great deal of time perching in the open from where it can easily spot its potential prey and launch its attack.
Sometimes when you are not looking perfection finds you. Just a little something *winks*
