Edge of Barbury Castle

I found this perfume bottle in a local charity shop on Friday and instantly fell in love with it. OK, I admit it wasn't the only thing I bought. My collection of bits and pieces continues to grow. The wonderful thing is that if I ever tire of it I can just give it back to the charity shop so that they can sell it again for someone else to enjoy. I think this particular one may stay with me for a while, though. It's such a fabulous colour.

I actually took this (and a few other ornaments) to the beach but it was so overcast that I decided not to take photos. So they got a trip out, and a walk along the beach.

When I got back to town it was nicer, so I went to a park and had a little photo shoot there instead :-)

So I looked through my photostream today and saw how many beach related photos I've got. And at least a quarter of the 'non-beach related' ones actually were taken on the way too, from, or next to, a beach!

All these lovely little purple shells were found and carefully collected by me at Himatangi beach, NZ.

Sorry, couldn't resist the groan worthy title...just my sense of humour ;)

Another photo from my visit to a local flower grower with my camera club.

Lensbaby Sol 45. Fusion of two images.

The last couple of days have been wet and windy, what a surprise in our green and pleasant land. So a trip into the garden to capture raindrops on roses.

Lensbaby Double Glass II

My garden is currently a soggy mess after the recent storms and heavy rain, so I struggled to find anything I wanted to bring into my house! In the end I gave in and visited a local florist, where I found a spray of tiny roses and this is one of them. It's barely ¾" across and I love the colour. I look forward to the day I can photograph flowers where they belong ... outdoors. :)

For this week's Smile on Saturday group theme, 'Get Nature in your Home!'

There just happened to be Raspberries in the house. Woohoo!!!

Photographed on an awesome day of Kyoto exploration with Charlie-san, Fukuda-san, Fumi-san, Maeda-san, Miki-san, sonnar-san, Take-san, and Teruhide-san. Zenkyoan, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. May 28, 2017.

Today I went to a local flower grower with some other members of my camera club. I hope to go back when it's less windy. This is a fusion of two images made with my Lensbaby Sol 45 and macro filters

Burkeville, Richmond, BC. February 13, 2022.

I had a feeling that I was being tailed. He (the squirrel) followed me for quite some time, always seeking my eye/camera and seemingly begging to have his photo taken. Publicity seeker !

First trip to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with the Canon. Tulips are in bloom! Tulipa 'Menton' if you are wondering. (I only know because I took a picture of the placard.)

The city was covered in brilliant, white snow. Despite the nice, warm weather we had last week, I prefer this whiteness, it's like a fresh set of clothes for the city. Too bad it'll melt, sooner or later. January 2024.

Taken with a positively ancient Konica Minolta Dynax 7D digital camera from the early 2000s, and a slightly less ancient Sony DT 18–55mm F3.5–5.6 SAM kit-lens.

Although ancient, this camera is a joy to use, it is feature-full and responsive. On the other hand, the batteries aren't long-lasting, possibly due to ancient electronics.

Photographed at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Additional texture was added in Photoshop.

Blue False Indigo (Baptisia australis), in the meadow mist, just before sunset.

Macro of a dahlia in my garden, this is the only bloom at the moment. Our weather has been pretty wet and cool and it doesn't seem to be doing the plants much good. We're still waiting for summer.

Every now and again I feel the need to prove that I do actually go outdoors and breathe fresh air. This was taken in my garden while trying out my 'new' Pentacon Auto 50mm f1.8 lens. I've already discovered it's fun. :)

Continuing with my obsession with timepieces...an old wristwatch which I haven't worn for many years, but it's pretty in its sparkly glitteriness. It's marcasite - no precious stones here!

Taken at the festival of lights at the urban / zoological gardens. There were tea lights along the paths and waterways, lanterns in the trees, figures made of LED bulbs, and LED chains on bridges

Here's a light bulb elephant in the background : ))

Happy colourful weekend, everyone !
