Thanks, Noel!

The forecast for yesterday afternoon said there would be a 'moderate' breeze. In flower photography terms, a 'moderate' breeze is a howling gale! I still enjoyed my visit to Sussex Prairie Garden, though. :)

October 2023: A month in 31 pictures

We still have our grandson with us so getting a photo isn't easy. I held this cyclamen in front of some organza then added some textures. It's rather pink but I like pink and his Lordship approved ;)

Another shot of my cafe au lait dahlia, this time from a different angle and using an Omni quilted iridescent film.

HMM to you all :)

This is another of my new dahlias this year. It's called Night Silence and is another favourite for photography.

My garden is currently a soggy mess after the recent storms and heavy rain, so I struggled to find anything I wanted to bring into my house! In the end I gave in and visited a local florist, where I found a spray of tiny roses and this is one of them. It's barely ¾" across and I love the colour. I look forward to the day I can photograph flowers where they belong ... outdoors. :)

Photographed on an awesome day of Kyoto exploration with Charlie-san, Fukuda-san, Fumi-san, Maeda-san, Miki-san, sonnar-san, Take-san, and Teruhide-san. Zenkyoan, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. May 28, 2017.

The weather was beautiful when I took this shot a few days ago at Borde Hill. Today it's grey, wet and uninspiring!

Happy Macro Mondays

I found this perfume bottle in a local charity shop on Friday and instantly fell in love with it. OK, I admit it wasn't the only thing I bought. My collection of bits and pieces continues to grow. The wonderful thing is that if I ever tire of it I can just give it back to the charity shop so that they can sell it again for someone else to enjoy. I think this particular one may stay with me for a while, though. It's such a fabulous colour.

Canon EOS R6 with Laowa 100mm f2.8

A double exposure of a scabious flower in my garden. I'd been so focused on using my Lensbabies for my 100 x challenge that I forgot how much I love my macro lens.

Willow View Farm, Abbotsford, BC. September 11, 2021.

First trip to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with the Canon. Tulips are in bloom! Tulipa 'Menton' if you are wondering. (I only know because I took a picture of the placard.)

I was finally inspired to saddle up my Sony work horse with the Takumar 55mm f 1.8 to see if I could lasso in some bokeh. The dry conditions in the state of New Mexico make it harder to come up with plentiful highlight glitter, so I took my spritz bottle and helped it along a little. I shot hand held because it is easier than trying to wrestle a tripod into the bush

Those leaves look like they are getting ready to prick those bubbles. In reality they are a drab gray color, but when the low, late afternoon winter sun hits them, they come alive again.

SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8

Photographed at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Additional texture was added in Photoshop.

Blue False Indigo (Baptisia australis), in the meadow mist, just before sunset.

Every now and again I feel the need to prove that I do actually go outdoors and breathe fresh air. This was taken in my garden while trying out my 'new' Pentacon Auto 50mm f1.8 lens. I've already discovered it's fun. :)

Continuing with my obsession with timepieces...an old wristwatch which I haven't worn for many years, but it's pretty in its sparkly glitteriness. It's marcasite - no precious stones here!
