August 30, 2021 Macro Mondays Theme: Leaf

As I set off for Borde Hill garden yesterday afternoon the sun was shining brightly, but soon after I got there dark clouds started to gather and the wind picked up. With the light disappearing, a slightly dodgy back making it difficult to bend, and a manual focus lens, I mean, what could possibly go wrong? That's why coming home with anything at all was a minor miracle. :)

Taken with a Pentacon Auto 50mm f1.8. lens.

Snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus).

Non-native to the UK, introduced from North America in 1817, the lovely snowberry is now a permanent feature of the British autumn landscape.

Greater tussock sedge (Carex paniculata)

Another one from my latest visit to Sussex Prairie Garden. I wish I could tell you what this flower is, but I'm afraid I don't know. It's very delicate and pretty, though.

There were four hanging out on the beach where I was. Although this picture shows one running away they weren't very shy. They came close to me several times and stood around a lot (for a Plover).

I have a vase of dried Straw Flowers and today was the day I could use them.

Happy Macro Mondays

I wish Flikr would just stop with all these changes. Go back to the original.

This is one of the 1,700,000 Olive trees on Zakynthos, Greece.....

Thanks for visiting.

During a brief cloudy spell, in Norfolk. Not much of it in focus, but, at least the eye is. Not a true macro image, taken with the Nikon 300mm F4 PF + 1.4 TC. ISO 1000 , no noise reduction added in camera or post processing.

Day 25 - October 2024: A month in 31 pictures

You meet the strangest characters in the woods.

Lensbaby Sol 45

Having a pond in the garden has been the best decision ever. I've been amazed just how quickly life comes to even a small amount of water. I feel as if I have my own private nature reserve! This tiny, beautiful creature is a Blue-tailed damselfly (a female, I think). Not easy to capture with a heavy 135mm lens. :)

Photographed on a Monday afternoon wander with Kiyoshi-san and NJ. Space Lab, East Pender Street, Chinatown, Vancouver. October 5, 2015.

Isetta Cafe Bistro, Marine Drive, West Vancouver. June 17, 2022.

I had a play in the garden yesterday with this dahlia again, this time with the Lensbaby Sol 45 (hence the dreadful title but I couldn't think of another) Macro filter and Omni gold concave reflective.

Photographed while wandering with Kiyoshi-san. Sangenjaya, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. May 18, 2017.

It rained and rained for the entire Onomichi visit on this Japanese adventure. (So no neko photos for me!) But at least I got to meet one of my favourite Flickr friends there. Thanks for meeting, K-san! I always enjoy your photos and comments on Flickr and it was so much fun to meet for sanpo and snacks. Onomochi, Hiroshima-ken, Japan. November 25, 2015.

LARGE View On Black

Just no brainer for Thursday eve:-) the rest of them are here

My contribution to the Swedish group Photo Sunday (Fotosöndag) on the theme depth.

Macro Mondays is a weekly theme-based challenge group. This weeks mission? Sound. The subject had to be a man-made item that creates sound. I chose a child's whistle.

While I was shooting, I kept thinking about the poor parents who would have to listen to the horrid sound that these whistles produce! lol Measurement of the subject is 3/4" width and 3/4"length.

Happy Macro Monday! HMM!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments. I do appreciate hearing from you! Have a terrific day and week ahead!

This one here was taken with my backup camera (Canon EOS-M - the one with which I started to take pictures back in 2014). The attached pancake lens (EF-M 22/2) produces a very beautiful bokeh.

This shot was taken on top of the Victoria Street in Edinburgh, Scotland.

As forest was fading into night this leaf was still nicely lit, hiding on the messy forest floor. I don't mind some messy scenes, no gardeners there. :)
