Crazy Tuesday - theme of August 6, 2019: Yellow Colour

I would have loved to be a bit more crazy (and up-to-date), but I was struggling with summer flu last week ...

I spottetd these yellow beauties (strawflowers [Xerochrysum bracteatum] - 'Strawburst Yellow', I think) on a windy summer day in July on the Island Mainau (Lake Constance) ... go visit this lovely place when you happen to be in the south west of Germany - you won't regret it !!

HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday everyone !! :D

für die Gruppe Crazy Tuesday - Thema: die Farbe Gelb

Last night at sunset. Quiet and lovely, I thought.

Hope you agree.

The tiny gold button is surrounded by tiny silver buttons (that happen to look like Christmas decorations, which I thought was appropriate given the month) and a thimble to the left. I love sewing accessories although I do not sew myself!

For Macro Mondays "Buttons and Bows" theme. HMM!

For Crazy Tuesday theme: Shallow depth of field. HCT everyone!

Exposing for the light.

This calendula officinalis still bloomed outdoors in an area protected from wind. Now, of course, with two days of of freezing temperatures, I doubt we could find it from our walk several days ago.

Something to salute autumn's beauty on the first day of November.

Bit shallow depth of field because I wore my new climbing helmet for the walk. Must avoid further concussions...and the brim and camera did not agree.

Had in mind "Looking Close on Friday"

Theme: Orange

Macro Monday - Damage

These are some well used brushes from my craft stash. I've used them to spread glue and not washed them quickly enough so they are now used just for that purpose. I tied them together and placed them on a reflective placemat. HMM

There's plenty in the garden for all but the Hummingbirds always fight over Crocosmia.

Do you know these confusing drawings in the children's books? In which so many things can be seen that the eyes always jump back and forth? To be able to recognize a little more, maybe to be able to see the future a little more clearly, I tried nuts and bolts as a telescope – didn't really work ;-) But I had fun with this self-portrait in my garden ...

Winter as it is. It remains to be seen whether there will be snow this winter ... The fence here on the edge of our village is just waiting. He has nothing else to do – the animals have migrated from pasture to winter quarters ;-)

Day 69/365:

Definitely Dreaming - Hands

My little star helping me out today. Hands aren't in focus but focus isn't everything, right?

Day 139/365:

This self seeded allium popped its pretty little head up in our lavender bed...what a pleasant surprise. Can you tell it's summer here? So many flowers appearing in my feed ;)

Photographed while exploring with Roger. Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. November 17, 2016.

I’ve often seen ladybugs land and pull the tips of their flight wings up under their protective coverings. Finally caught this one at the other end of the process, deploying its flight wings. How they can be flexible enough to fold lengthwise and rigid enough to fly still confounds me.

Asian Lady Beetle, Harmonia axyridis on coneflower, in the New Hanover County Arboretum, Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tech Note: This was a 10-image focus bracket, in which the ladybug wandered around out of focus, paused at frame 8, deployed in frame 9 as the focus slice arrived, and flew toward the camera, out of the focus plane in frame 10. I dropped three non-essential images for the focus stack, and edited out the stationary ladybug in frame 8 to avoid competition with the key action in frame 9. Cloned out a damaged petal in the final stack, and adjusted the curves.

Happy Sliders Sunday!

...in Port Townsend, WA. Water Street, Port Townsend, WA. July 28, 2016.

Day 216/365:

The Sweet 35 is (was) not my favourite of the Lensbaby lenses. Today I realised why. I was trying to use it for images that I thought it should be used for instead of sticking to my style or thinking outside the box. So here we have a double exposure. First exposure is of the berberis bush and the second is of the roses...both in my garden. A bit of faffing and a texture added and I'm quite pleased. May start to use the Sweet 35 a bit more now.

This hummingbird say here on this railing outside of my window for over half an hour. Unfortunately I had to shoot through my window which has a screen. I did my best to hide it but under the circumstances I think it came out well! This is really the only photo I've captured of a hummingbird. They are one of my favorite birds as well.

Now I'm kind of wondering...would this be better in black & white?

For MacroMondays#Triangle

It was easier for me to make than to find them in the house.

Taken with Super Takumar 2/55 manual focus, f 2.0 and extended tube 21mm.

Have a great week ahead and thank you for visiting.

Die Quadratur des Kreises. Da ist ein Loch in der Welt.

But only a very small hole. At least here in my tiny piece of wood and in my small macro world. Otherwise, unfortunately, it looks just different in the big wide world. We need something like squaring the circle as soon as possible, right?

///

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ingredients: square piece of wood (cuboid, 0.43 inches) with a hole as a circle (I found it in the garage a time ago and added it to my collection to my Macro Mondays box – for the little things that you can always use sometimes...) birch bark as a background, glass box as spacer for a bright hole, daylight.

HELLO

Today's theme for the Macro Mondays group is STITCH.

This is a section of stitching on my walking boots.

Thanks for visiting.

HMM.......

I love books. I've read so many that it's almost impossible to pick just one favourite, but for today I've chosen a novel I recently read and absolutely loved, called "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr. It's an achingly beautiful historical tale set in France and Germany during WWII, and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2015.
