This agapanthus was in my flower delivery a couple of weeks ago...couldn't let it go before taking a photo. I used a couple of my own textures and a f-fair bit of f-faffing. HSS
Title from My Generation by The Who. I often start singing the song when photographing fading flowers.

Ingredients: small vase (from the 1960s, handed over to me by my mother), early blooming flowers (boxwood, grape hyacinth, primrose, french lavendel), Easter eggs (painted with opaque white), wicker basket (ideal for the Easter egg hunt)

Over the years, the more I have learned, planted and tended, the more my intrigue and love for Banksia has grown.
All 173 species bar one, are uniquely Australian. The genus is a member of the Proteaceae family and was first collected at Sydney in 1770 by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander. Fossils found have shown that these incredible plants have been on earth for around 59 million years.
I grow several species and right now that it is autumn, I am thrilled daily to see the first inflorescences on my Banksia ericifolia, planted just last year, the flower heads of which can grow to 30cm in length. This species is endemic to this area here on the east coast and loved by our honeyeater birds.
Here we have a superior view/perspective, down on to the top of the inflorescence.
This may look like a delicate beauty - but it is in fact rather like touching a wire brush. These plants, (even their inflorescences), are like old dinosaurs. The task I set myself was to try and present a delicate and soft image of one for a change.

Flowering Quince (Chaenomeles) in the last rays of the sun. Protected by all the snow we had this past Winter our flowering quince is lush and beautiful this Spring.
lovely cut-leaf mallows - seen on a walk around the neighbourhood in a natural meadow along a tram (streetcar) line
It was very windy yesterday evening, so I am glad I could 'freeze' the blossoms with a fast shutterspeed
The blossoms and seeds of the cut-leaf mallow are edible - you can colour / decorate salad with them for example :)
Happy Monday and have a pleasant week ahead !!

... and long-ago times. I imagined walking in an old and abandoned palace garden on a tropical island :-)
While walking in our neighbourhood park, I took a photo with an open aperture for a shallow depth of field to create a dreamy impression and added a grungy filter to make it more mysterious.
Happy slider Sunday ... HSS!
Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday
Played around with my camera with a closeup lens in front. Just photographed what was in front of me on my desk :)

Crazy Tuesday - Thema am 13.07.2021: Aus der Reihe tanzen (Etwas / Jemand ist anders)
A popular garden flower that's just blooming now.
Thank you for your visits and comments, they're very much appreciated. Have a great day and weekend!
Day 333/365:
I managed to get my favourite perfume at a very good price in the Black Friday sale. I also received this miniature gift set with it. So, another low key macro since my camera and macro lens were still set up from yesterday and I was a bit short on time after having our grandson for the last few days. He has gone home now and we will miss him terribly, he's great fun and really good company although extremely tiring! ;)
I added a couple of textures (my own).

Anything goes 2021 - Cosy at home
I crocheted some mug cosies as gifts for Christmas and kept this one for myself.
I hope you all had a very happy Christmas. We managed to have a lovely time in spite of one son and daughter-in-law unable to join us due to Covid. They are feeling a lot better and out of isolation now. Our youngest son and family were with us on Christmas day and he has since tested positive so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we don't go down with it. I'm afraid this is life now :(

Day 52/365:
Macro Monday - Two
So many choices for this theme. I was going to use tiny bottles but then thought of these tiny vintage mustard spoons filled with gold stars in the silver spoon and siver in the gold spoon. I called it two scoops (rather than spoons) as a nod to the 'Two soups' sketch with Julie Waters. You may only know this if you are of a certain age and live in the UK. HMM

Anything goes for 2021 - White on white
I've done similar to this in the past but took this and a few other photos earlier before we were called out to collect our grandson from preschool. He then wanted to go for a walk. Of course no self respecting doting grandparent could possibly refuse. It did mean I ran out of time to get another shot. HMM

A fragile poppy flower being held on by the tiny thorns on the stalk on the left, expressing their symbiotic relationship. It was very windy and the flower petals were fluttering a lot.
Such a lovely colour to this low growing, spreading variety of a succulent plant with parentage within the Sedum genus. It presents as a beautiful mat of bright lime-green foliage resembling moss. The leaves are tender and soft.
It also produces masses of bright yellow flowers in spring.
Here, I chose to focus on one area with heavy depth of field.
This is Sedum var. Goldilocks, growing to 10 cm in height and a spread of around 45 cm in diameter.

We were out with Tilly and her owners today and Tilly very kindly modelled for me as I was getting desperate for my photo for the challenge. I had to remove the distracting background and I then added a texture which I thought complimented Tilly's colouring better.
Another tulip from my visit to Wrest Park. This is the photo I used for the previous abstract image.
I added a couple of my own textures.

As much as possible, I'll try to upload 2 photos each day from now on. :-) One good thing about having a Pro account, I'm not limited to 200 photos showing in my stream hehehe. With at least 12 hours interval of course.
Have a great day everyone!
